Lexi's pre-trip report for Dream Factory wish trip! June 18-24, 2009

Hi Sammie-girl...does your ds like Cars or Nemo?

Lynn

He really loves both of them but if I had to choose him a fav. I would probably pick Nemo. He watches that movie more. Thanks

I woke at 3:50 this morning to what I thought was my ds crying in his sleep. After further inspection I realized he was laughing and I mean really laughing and he was still sound asleep.:rotfl2: He must have been dreaming about Disney ;).

So I couldn't get back to sleep so what else is there to do that early but work on the computer and figure out more about our trip.

I know the only thing we have to do at AK is the safari and the Everest ride. (probably the coaster a few times because that is my dd's fav. ride there.)

Only a few things at Epcot (the ball, wish room (you guys have me curious), and the soarin'.

1. My kids love love love MK so I am thinking AK and then over to MK one day
2. Epcot and back to MK another day
3. HS one day (if we get done early we will enjoy GKTW)
4. Couple of hours at Sea World and then IOA.
5. Universal (especially characters will probably take full day but if not back to GKTW)

Our first day we arrive is on a Thursday and our plane lands at 10:45 so an afternoon at GKTW and the Christmas party. (will I get to go to this or will I be in orientation?):sad1:

Our last day is on a Wednesday and our plane leaves at 7:30 so most of a day at GKTW.

Any suggestions for what days we go to which parks?
I am thinking avoiding MK on Sat and Sun and maybe breaking them up on Fri and Tue. What do you think:confused:

I have to share today's breakfast menu with you:goodvibes

My dd had the best idea yesterday. She loves the hidden mickeys and thought if I made her a big Mickey pancake and a bunch of smaller ones she would have a hidden Mickey breakfast.:thumbsup2. Love this idea and can't wait to see how it turns out. I hope I can make the hidden ones be small enough.

I usually try and do the MK on weekdays also! I get the feeling it is less crowded but no idea why I think that!

I was going to keep the Big Give a secrete from the kids until their first package arrived. After some thinking I realized they love to get the mail(take turns going to the mailbox) and when they actually see something is for them they may totally freak and rip it right open before I have time to get my camera or do any talking.

So I sat them down this morning and explained to them what was going to be happening. My dd was asking so many questions I could hardly keep up. (Do they know me?, Who are they? I AM REALLY GOING TO BE GETTING MAIL? :rotfl2:) the last was really the first and loudest question.

I set some rules for them number 1 being that I MUST have my camera before they even peak at anything.

My ds is a little confused but he is also confused by the whole wish trip itself. He loves Disney and I think that is all he can see right now.

My dd can't believe she is actually going to get some mail and keeps asking about it. (:scared: I may not survive all the questions LOL.)

Anyway, another big Thank You ;)I only wish I would have thought to record the moment I told them. I really had no clue my dd would be that happy over it. I thought it wouldn't really sink in until her first package came. Boy, was I wrong.

And the pancakes turned out really well this morning.

That pancake idea sounds wonderful.

And two days at MK is a good plan if your kids love MK, I agree that MK just feels like it would be more crowed on a Sat/Sun.

I can't wait to see the any pics from the big give, very good rules on the no peeking :goodvibes

We have opened the pool today, officially. I don't know if I will get in because the water is a little bit chilly for me (I don't like to be cold:laughing:)

I have thought up a disney dessert to go with it. I will post some pics later this evening.

That's awesome that you got the Big Give! I had no idea what that was...bummer, i missed out on it.

Sounds like you've been having alot of fun lately with cooking! That makes one of us! LOL (I hate cooking)

I saw that you were planning to spend just a couple of hours at Sea World. We made the mistake of walking around the whole park without even experiencing hardly anything. :( So if you plan on a short visit...try not to get caught up in everything around you, otherwise you'll find that you spent the whole day there like we did. Feeding the dolphins was amazing and a don't miss.! :)

The wish lounge at MK wasn't nothing extravagant. Just a room with furniture, pillows, tv and small fridge with complimentary water, juice. It's in a nice location! The same building as the first aid, so we actually went there a couple of times for tylenol for Piper. The wish lounges at Epcot were awesome! Especially the Siemans one. That's a DON"T MISS.

Thanks for the advice. We decided to feed the dolphins, just look at the whales and manatees and pet the sting rays. Living so close to the Omaha Zoo and going there quite often we decided on not spending too much time there. Thanks for the warning because I love animals and would be one to get caught up in the moment. I will have to keep reminding myself to move it. haha.

I am not a very creative cook but can do breakfast and desserts alot better than the meals. I am more of a casserol, crock pot type gal.:thumbsup2 My kids have enjoyed it and so it is worth it. I am posting some picks of my dessert I made today. This is about it for my creativity though.

This is my two kids holding my most creative dessert ever! I made vanilla pudding and added blue food coloring. I then crushed up some cookies for the sand and added some cake topper fish etc for the water. My dd had made that *Ariel* at our local pottery shop so I had to put that on there because it is her trip and all. I had purchased a little ariel at our dollar tree but thought her creation was more meaningful.

Please don't look to close at the messy house or the broken drawer. They are both work in progresses and my house always seems to need something done to it.

What a cute picture of the family! And so creative! I LOVE it! I bet the kids are really enjoying all the little fun stuff you have been doing.

I love it when people point out messy houses and broken things. I never even noticed and thought let me go back and look for it. I had to look hard to see the broken drawer and I don't see any mess!

Aw what a really cool looking dessert, I never would have thought about doing something like that. :goodvibes

How cool! It is so nice to see a family enjoying things Disney style!

I remember reading where you all could not get a meal with the princeses, and you had asked about meeting Snow White, and I don;t know if someone had already mentioned this, but she can be found a lot of times by the Snow White Scary Adventures ride. Also, ask at city hall if she will be around during the day, be sure to tell them that it is your dd's Wish Trip and she really wants to meet Snow White.

I have a couple things to post about. First of all thank you for the info on Barney and Snow White. After much consideration we have decided to take a chance on meeting Barney at Universal (everyone says how wonderful they are so we are really hoping for this). I made a res. for breakfast with Snow White on the day after we arrive. It is for 8:00 am and the only time they had open our whole trip. Bad news is that they couldn't confirm that Snow White would be there. We are really hoping as this is the only reason for the breakfast and it cost over 110.00 dollars. UGGGG! I never would have dreamed of spending that much money on a meal but especially eggs and bacon. I REALLY hope Snow White is there to at least make me feel better about spending the money.

***this is not about our disney trip so skip if not interested in stuff not Disney******

For those who have been following my story you know the trouble we are having with the Catholic school raising our payments around 3000 a year. This school is also very known for clicks and since my dd has been diagnosed she has been a complete outsider with one girl in particular making fun of her, laughing and the girls mom encourages it. This girls mom also works at the school and is involved in every activity (YES I mean everything even when it doesn't involve her daughter). The girls mom I will call Abby is my ds's preschool assistant. They have had 3 gatherings so far this summer and have left my daughter out of all of them (the daughter says because she is so different:mad:) We have been praying about what to do and today have decided to put her into public school.
Problems being:
1. my dd already feels different and will have to start all over with a new class.
2. she doesn't want to leave her school and says it is o.k. she only has 1 friend.
3. lots more little reasons but those are the main 2.

Soooooo what I am asking is for some very serious praying for my dd and ds (he will be going to public now as well).
I am so worried about this and haven't been sleeping to good because I know I have to do what is right for my children even when they don't want to do it or understand why I am doing it. (I am afraid the lonliness will eventually have some mental or emotional effect on my dd.)I gotta take a break for a minute I am crying so hard I can hardly see the screen.

:grouphug: Hang in there! :grouphug: Maybe the change of schools is meant to be. Kids are much more resilient than we give them credit for. She will make new friends easily. I had four new girls in my daughter's class this year. They all joined her Brownie troop and were easily accepted. One little girl is a brittle diabetic like your daughter and due to previous training I knew how to deal with her sugar levels. I treated her just like everyone else and she fit right in. She had to have slightly different snacks once or twice, but she was ok with it. I even let her go on our troop campout and we had no problems! I will send some more prayers your way. It will work out. God has a plan for everything! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

O.K. I am back and the breakdown is over:goodvibes
I talked with the principal of the new school a bit ago. She was very nice and even talked with my dd about changing schools. Whatever she said really made a difference and now my dd is very excited to go to the new school. We are meeting the teachers tomorrow and touring the school. (It is technically summer but they invited us to do this anyway.) I really feel good and at peace with my decision so hopefully all goes well.

I will try to keep my posts more disney oriented from now on but had to share this because so many of you *get* what I am going through because you have your own special needs children.......Thank you all who have listened:hug:

Thank you!!!!!!!! I really feel at peace with this decision now. My point exactly is that diabetes isn't as bad as what other kids go through so I really don't understand all of the being left out and stuff......I will have to add that at one fundraiser I was volunteering at this Abby had told everyone how mean she was in high school and she just knew her daughter would be like that also. That should have told me something right there. I would never be proud to admit that I was mean and training my child to be mean. Some people really shouldn't be parents and maybe someday she will have to deal with something life changing like we have, (I wouldn't wish it on anyone just that sometimes people like that will never learn or be understanding until it happens to them)...:sad2:

Thanks again and how is your planning coming????? I need to take a peek at your PTR.

I have hit a minor wall with my PTR. Are you still going to be out of town this weekend during the Dream Factory's Fishing for Dreams event in KC? I would love to meet you and your daughter! We will be there on Saturday. :wizard:

It sounds like your daughter will be much better off at the new school.

My son has attended catholic schools since he started. (He will be a sophomore in HS next year) We have been luck to be in a class that was relatively small, and the boys were not "clickish" at all. (the girls wree slightly, but not too bad) Our grade level has been surrounded by clickish groups (bith the level above my son's and below...both girls and boys) Sometimes the break from them is a blessing. (We have seveal friends in those classes) Also, being a public school, they may have more resources available for your daughter when she has glucose issues. So hang in there...it will work out fine...your daughter will love the new school (especially if you do too!)
