Letting teenagers go it alone?

We're going in 26 days! :cool1: Anyhow, we are two families going together. The older girls are 17, 14, 13 and 11. If they stayed together as a group, do you think it's safe to let them go do their thing and say, maybe meet us back for dinner? My girls(14 and 11) have already been there so they know their way around pretty well.

What do you think?

My girls are similar age - 9, 12, 14 and they did it. It is knowing how to find you or find help that is the key - if you think they can find help if something happens than you are golden.

From 5th grade on, I was allowed to roam Disney on my own with a friend. We would even hop back and forth from Epcot to MK. I am 35 now - so that tells you how long it was and times have changed, but I would let my kids do it if they were that age.

Yeah my girls know their way around the parks just fine :)

Excellent, thanks!

When I was younger my then DBF and I were allowed to roam free in the world. We were 15 and 17 at the time. We rode the busses and park-hopped. Even did a water park and EMH! This was before cell phones too. A couple times we were incharge of his brother who was 11 at the time. We were fine. Oh, and we had our room keys and were able to charge things. NOT a good idea!!
As long as you trust your children and they know the rules and "lay of the land".

Which was the worst part, being able to charge things.......or having the room key? haha

OH, I'll make sure I lay that down with them too! I didn't think about them being able to charge things to their room. Oy!

Yeah they all get along very well :)

One of the things I was concerned with was if there are any policies about the teens running around without their parents or anything. Also just the general safety of it all. In the dining plan area I also asked about them getting their own counter service meals ;)

If there was a rule like that, Disneyland would be empty :rotfl:
