Let's try a "best tip or idea in one place" thread

- Bring wire hangers to hang your clothes

- Pack your clothes that you don't want to iron on hangers and in dry cleaning bags for your suitbag - you won't have nearly as many wrinkles

- If you have a veranda, bring about 15' of closeline and closepins. there are places to tie off the closeline to hang wet items - especially useful after Castaway Key so you wont need to pack wet items

- Pack your small item clothes (underwear, socks, kids clothes, etc.) in ziplock bags, much easier to stay organized especially with a full stateroom

- Plug-in Glade/Wizard oil based deoderizer for the bathroom - used mine in the shaver plug on the hair dryer

- Treat several t-shirts with RIT Sunguard - prevents a bad sunburn (our kids didn't tan through their shirts)

- Take a large bag for excursions

- Bring a small memo pad to plan your day - what activities at what times (makes it easier if you have to plan between multiple Navigators - we had kids in 3 different age brackets plus the adult Navigators to contend with)

- Bring an envelop to keep your Navigators in and organized

- If you're dong Disney excursions sign up online before your cruise

- Bring your own movie candy (we love Skittles)

- Hit the pool as soon as you get your ressies done - Our kids love being the FIRST in the pool and slide

- Bring dishsoap - we washed lots of items in the sink and hung to dry (especially stains). We also used it to wash snorkel gear in the bathtub

- They quit serving drinks (except at the bar on the Family Beach) on Castaway Key early (when the food outlets close). Make sure you have enough liquids to last the rest of the day

- You won't have to rent floats if you are willing to wait until after Noon - by then enough are laying around and floating "free" in the lagoon for your use (we rented one, then had an extra drift by - could not locate the owner)

- Snorkle early (snorkle first thing) at CC - the bottom gets stirred up bad

- Disney's snorkel vests leak badly through the valve - you may want to consider bring your own if you need to rely on these for bouyancy

- No floats in the snorkle area (bad policy) would help prevent the bottom from getting so torn up

- Order anything you want off the menu's, your servers will be happy to mix and match menu items

- When you see the Shutter's staff, drag them over to photograph your kids rather that wait from them to ask (you will have a lot more pictures to choose from later)

- At Shuttlers, stack the pictures you are considering purchasing together each day so you you don't have to search all the displays repreatedly

- Don't show up just-in-time for movies - the Buena Vista Theatre is small and if your party is large, you may not be able to sit together

- Bring several large-mouth plastic bottles (that will fit into your collapsible cooler) for excursions, or for keeping drinks in your stateroom beverage cooler. We kept them full of ice/water from the drink station and made our own ice tea & lemonaid (sugar free).

- Buy a couple of "dry boxes" from eBay. We spent $1.25 on each of ours, and kept our KTTY cards, credit cards, cash (change too) and receipts safe and dry even on snorkeling and diving excursions. You could keep your smokes dry if you are a smoker... Disney sells these for about $7, but you can also get them from Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach before your cruise or from other sources.

These are GREAT! We leave Saturday and I need to hit Walmart now! OMG, we are going to have SO much to bring on board! Wow! I am going to do the following:

Get a travel iron, beach bag, underwater camera for the stringrays, dryer sheets, dish soap, colapseable hamper, $2 bills for tips, bring my hairdryer, and extra hangers. Already bought tons of Ziplocs! THANKS!

What else might the "dry boxes" be called on e-bay? I looked on e-bay, and what came up when I searched for "dry boxes" would certainly not work for cruising! I would like to purchase 3 more of these, but don't know just what they are called.

Dont worry about the dry boxes one bit. I was very concerned before my Feb. cruise and ordered them from herrington. But they are for sale in abundance on the cruise ship, and it makes a great souvineer!!

Take more shoes than you think you will need. I didn't take my Keds because I packed my walking shoes (for the mile walk) then I wished I had my Keds for a change from sandals when my feet were tired.

When you have one more "wear" out of your socks, underwear, t-shirts, P.J's etc., and you are about to throw them out - DON'T!!! I pack them away and wear them one more time on the cruise and then throw them out. It saves a lot of room for souvieners.

My favorite one is take your audio connecting cable, you know the one that connects your digital camera to your TV, and view your pictures each night. This allows you to delete any that didn't turn out or are duplicated and free up space for the next day.

Also, (I read this one on here somewhere before) save your pocket change!! I've saved enough to cover all of our tips for our Western cruise and still have a year to go! Hope to save enough to cover several shore excursions as well! It's really addictive!

Spend the extra 50 cents on the last night to dry all your swimsuits and wet t-shirts so you don't have to pack wet clothes. If you forgot to dry them, use the leftover bags from Shutters to put your wet clothes in.

In my day bag, I'll usually pack aspirin and motion sickness pills in ziploc baggies. Sometimes, I'll take a damp washcloth and put it in a ziploc and bring it along as well...you never know when dirty faces need washing! :hyper:
