Our new appliances come next week in Thursday. I am so excited. We got to save a good chunk of change on them through a friend of mine that works in construction. Can't wait to see them in the kitchen all in the right place.

AMITY, before I ordered anything at Home Depot, I did some bidding on 10% off Home Depot coupons on ebay. For a couple of bucks, you can save HUNDREDS. Just read the coupon fine print. Some have expiration dates, some don't. Some are for carry-out & some don't say. I won an auction that had 2 coupons in it. I used one on the Silestone order & another on the faucet special order.

I had gotten even luckier & placed the Silestone order during a 10% off promo the store was running. So I actually got 20% off.

We were going to build a new house about three years ago, and this was one of the choices I had picked out for our kitchen counters. It's very pretty!

I remember standing in my kitchen just staring at mine. I didn't have countertops, or doors on my cabinets, but those appliances sure started pulling it all together.

Can your cabinet guy install them? Really, we've hung cabinets before. If we can do it, you can too. (I'm serious.) Its all the trim work that I didn't want to mess with. With the basement, our carpenter charged us x amount per cabinet and then a set amount for all the trim work we had.

I'm pretty sure my husband can set the cabinets, especially since there will be no uppers, but I think I'm going to leave the molding up to the contractor to install.

I'm amazed that they came in under $3. When we were quoted the bathroom we did go with cherry with a glaze. Perhaps thats why the price was higher for effectively the same amount of cabinets.

Cherry was around $40 more per linear foot. Except for American Woodmark; their prices were much lower than Kraftmaid or Thomasville. Makes me wonder about the quality though. (I posted this before reading the rest of your response! Now I see why!)

Are you going to pattern it after the first bathroom picture (with the roll up door) or the second one with the glass doors and the trim above the mirrors?

I don't want the roll up door. I think it would be cool to store things in, and to have an electrical outlet hidden inside of it, but it's just not practical. We have no linen closet, so we really need to use that middle section to store towels.

The one I have in mind, has two double doors, with shelves inside, and one drawer on the bottom. It will look like an armoire once it's on top of the lower cabinet. I want to do the molding at the top, and maybe an onlay.

I love the look of the glass cabinets, and in my kitchen they work. But in my bathroom... well, you'd just have to see how my husband folds towels. You'd understand. You want those puppies behind solid doors.

The only question I have now is does Home Depot's Kraftmaid standard size the same as Lowe's? Years ago when we did our kitchen (2001), there was a difference. You had to upgrade your Kraftmaid sides at Lowes to get what was standard at Home Depot. I don't know if this holds true now.

I'm not sure. Only one side will show on the bathroom though. One side will be up against the wall. It's food for thought though.

That's my long-winded .02. Its simply our experiences with the lines...and your experience may be different.

You helped immensely. I know Lennar uses Woodmark, and I know enough about production builders to know that they will cut corners to make a bigger profit margin when given the chance. I'm not surprised to hear that about them.

It's looking more and more like Kraftmaid, and even more so after reading your post. I think it'll give us the most bang for our buck, considering that we aren't planning on staying in this house for the long haul.

The bathroom is just too small I think for the other vanity with all the trimwork. As long as this one has a nice granite top I think it would look good. DH is one of those guys that likes clean lines and no foo foo.

I think I will save the fight for a bigger battle. (Like the basement)

Thats a beautiful piece of granite. If your room is in the blues family and you don't mind that committment to color, then go for it! So many granite pieces are simply stunning in the blues and greens. To me, many look like fine art pieces but due to their strong coloring, they need just the right spot. Looks like this one found a home!

Wow! There's another one that I've never seen or heard of! It reminds me of turquoise! Or abalone, even!

I can see that making a very dramatic statement on cherry-stained cabinets!

The vanity is for a hallway bathroom. The master bath needs redoing also. It is not much bigger than the hall bath. Our house is just 1400 sq ft. It is our starter home we built 20 years ago. Since we didn't end up having kids and the dog has his own bedroom (he does have to share with our office) we are just fixing this one up.

I think it would be perfect for a secondary bathroom! It's very pretty, and like you mentioned, it has very clean lines.

I think I'm one of the few people who actually wishes her master bathroom was smaller. The room is too large, but also too long, which makes it a pain to configure a remodel.

No storage closets? Where do you put your vacumn, your swifter mop, a broom, basic stuff like that? No place to put coats? You poor woman!!

Our bathroom has a rather long vanity as well. I think somewhere around 130 inches in length. Our closet is accessed through the bedroom and runs alongside the bathroom and is just as long as the bathroom, but narrow, narrow, narrow. We have things hanging on both sides and it feels claustrophobic in there. Oh to have the wall moved just a foot back. Or even 6 inches would make a tremendous difference.
