Nice job!! Congratulations on making it to the finish line! Don't you feel fantastic?? :yay:

I even cooked dinner last night. (spaghetti and meat sauce.) It was on the stove, and I had to do the dishes in the wash sink in the basement, but it was a home cooked meal. The storms were to bad to cook or eat outside.

DH is going to get all the extra junk out of the great room and we are going to have a dance in your socks party tonight before we fill it back up with stuff.

Congratulations on your first meal in your new kitchen. I remember when my sister-in-law was remodeling. They had to do their dishes in the tub!

Enjoy your sock hop!! party:

Miss Jasmine: Your bath looks beautiful. Now on to the next project.:rotfl2:

Today I was looking at duvet covers, shams, pillows, etc. for our bedroom and paint samples for the dining room. :rotfl: Also I got a raincheck from World Market for a new computer desk (bought the chair). Once you start I don't think it ever ends. Today we also switched out a corner shelving unit for a new shelving unit with a light in the great room next to the piano.

I'm trying to redo my bedroom too. I'm tempted to wait until after the bathroom is done though.

At the rate we're going, I should have a new duvet in 2010.

I have got some more smilies for everyone's use.

These are for when you can't believe the price quotes:

I'm sure this one will come in quite handy after I get the revised quote from my contractor next week.

AMITY, the quartz (cambria) is slightly different. We used welshpool black in the kitchen and parkgate in the bathroom.

Though the slab we used for our bath does seem darker.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! It is difficult to get good pics of the bathroom because of all the angles.

I'd go for the new decking. I think if you didn't, you'll always be able to tell what was new and what was replaced. At least it'll all age the same way now.

We decided to go with a whole new deck too. We were also quoted a much cheaper price for replacing just the stuff that was in dire disrepair (thanks to the astroturf the PO had put on the old deck) but most of it is in badenough shape that in a few years we would have to redo it all anyway. We just decided to suck it up and get it done all new.

Miss Jasmine WOW! Can I just say that you bathroom looks absolutely lovely. I love the wall color too.

My kitchen granite always looks black in photos.

I love both of those!

Yeah, that's my problem with photos too. :rolleyes1

OK, I'm beginning to think I've had enough of this remodel and we've barely begun. I mentioned earlier about compromises and things never being exactly what I wanted and I'm disappointed in just replacing a light fixture.

My old ceiling fan/lighting in the kitchen looked something like this:

So I wanted a nice new fan with more light. I found this one and it looks great and I went from 2 lights in a globe to 4 direct lights. I thought this looks perfect.

It looks great hanging on the ceiling. But I only have half as much light in the room as before!!! The light before with half as many bulbs and behind a globe was an ok amount of light but half as much for twice as many bulbs is killing me.

The lights for this fixture have a smaller threading on them so it looks like it takes a non standard bulb and they're very frosted. I'm hoping to get some clear bulbs in this size and I may even go up to 60 watts instead of the 40 max it says. I hate doing that but it's either that or take this one out and get a different one.

We also replaced the dining room fan/light. Of course that ones dimmer also but it's only about 80% of the previous light instead of 50%.

We're running into the same thing. We need to replace all these outdated fixtures in the house, yet they throw off so much light. It has been a chore to find something more up-to-date, yet adequate in it's overall light. I truly understand!
