Let's Talk Remodeling

Bill, are you still happy with your kitchen LCD tv? I'm pretty sure I've decided to return mine while I still can. I've used it for 2 weeks. Too many times I'm unable to see a picture from where I stand / move in the kitchen. You have to be literally in front of it. Sad about it because we wanted a nice slim tv. I just can't justify $300 for a tv I can't see when I have our old tv still sitting on the floor. Nothing wrong with old tv. GREAT picture. Can see from any angle. DH doesn't want to re-hang it under cabinets now that we have (or will have when done) a nice kitchen simply because its white & boxy.

The siltstone guys are here right now installing the counter tops. They look great. I am going to try to get pictures soon. :cool1:

Oh my new senso coffee maker came at the same time. :thumbsup2

Yeah!!!
They came yesterday to move dishwasher back. And to fix a seam that cracked behind the stove within 2 days of install. Turns out the adjoining cabinet was not very tight to the wall & allowed movement.

Can't wait to see pics. What color did you get?

Here it is!

Because every remodel needs a before. This was after it was started, so it didn't always look this bad. There was a half wall between the 2 rooms, we took that down.

More to come......

Why aren't these working??? I clicked on the mountain image, then copy and pasted the properties of the pictures.

Well here are more. If I can figure out how to directly post them I will (I used to be able to) otherwise here is links. They are in a photobucket account. Maybe that is the problem.

DisneyPHd, I almost bought the same hardware! So, of course, I think you have excellent taste. :snooty:

It looks great! You must be thrilled!

Thanks, I love them. I am thrilled. I will be beyond it when I can use the dishwasher and sink. They can hook them up tomorrow, but my FIL is out of town until Monday and he is one that knows how to do it. DH thinks he can, but I don't know if I want him messing with it if he only thinks he can.

I just want to be able to do dishes with out going to the basement laundry sink.

Let's see if I can make it work this way. I loaded them into my dis photo account.

I LOVE ALL OF YOUR CHOICES!!!!!! :goodvibes
Mine telling me about the hardware? Where? Finish? Don't know if its something we are doing yet, but leaves is something I would definitely pick too.

Like the blue paint. Want my blue carpeting to go with it? lol

I got them at Lowe's. They were 2.99 each, they are black (so they match the sink.) It is hard to see the sink, it is so deep and the faucet is not hooked up yet.

I wanted them in pewter, but I couldn't find them.

Lowes is on my list of places to go to look at tile. Its not as close by as Home Depot. I'll be sure to check them out while there to see if they come in any other finishes. Not sure what direction we are heading on that one exactly.

Thanks for the info.
Oh, my sink is very deep too. Stainless steel. Getting used to how deep it is. Not too bad really since I don't wash much by hand. But its nice not to see the dishes in the sink. lol

DisneyPhd - Great pictures. What a difference! Do you just stand there in the room taking it all in? It's beautiful. Congratulations on a job well done.:cool1:

I was just doing that. :rolleyes1 It would be better if the sink was hooked up. My FIL is the one to do things like that and he is out of town. BAD TIMING. Oh well. It should be running by Tuesday afternoon.

I told DH it is kind of like being a week overdue pregnant. You have waited this long and now everything is almost done. Just waiting for the last little bit to make it all come together. Of course the last week is the hardest!

I spent today putting things away. The problem is they are all dirty, and I don't have a sink or dishwasher to give them a good cleaning. So I will have to take things out and run the dish washer like 10 times when we get it all working. I did make lemon bars today. YUMMMY!

Mom was here for the weekend. We got the dining room drapes sewed. The leftover fabric drape fabric we made into covers for the toaster & toaster oven to bring the color into the kitchen. Its a sage green with tone on tone small lattice pattern woven into it. We also cut the wine bottle tapestry fabric for the valances in kitchen/dining room, but she took those home to sew on her marrowing (sewing) machine since it will do a nicer job with the thick fabric. She finished the extra placemats in that fabric too.

At Kohl's, I found 2 wine bottle placques (buy 1 get 1 free) to I bought those for each side of the dining room window. They had alot more wine things, but I don't want a wine / tuscany room. Not what I was going for. I'm not sure how to describe what I'm going for. I have country stuff. We like oak. We added black to the mix. The wine bottle fabric had all the colors (blue, sage, oak, black, gold, burgandy) so it was good start. I think I'm going for just a nice cozy comfy family/friends place around food idea. I'm still looking for more updated accessories but having trouble because I'm not into one of the themes on the market. I have some ideas of things I might make from left over frames we have.

LOL. Here I am decorating in my head already when the rest of the border hasn't even come down. The sage paint hasn't gone up. The backsplash tile isn't picked yet. AND DH is gone off to San Francisco for the week for work. I always decorate first in my head.

I returned the LCD TV to Circuit City with no problems. When they asked what was wrong, I just said I wanted it for kitchen & can't see the picture from different places in kitchen. She knew EXACTLY what I meant & didn't say anymore. I put my old TV sitting on the counter for now. at least I can see it. We'll rehang it after we tile I guess.

Yup, decorating in my head. Thats what gets me into trouble each and every time. Next thing you know, the checkbook has taken another hit. :sad2:

Pictures, please. I'd love to see what you've done with the drapes.

Right now they are just hung from a junk rod & I need to move them out so more light comes in the window. And the wine bottle valances are at my moms......so you'll have to wait on pics. Sorry.

I only hung them so I wouldn't have to iron them again. We still need to finish removing the old border. The drapes will be coming down again. lol

Really, its nothing more than 2 drapery panels we bought at Kmart that i liked & matched & we shortened them. The valances she's making from scratch. Just simple valances.
