We will be there early Sept. staying off site at CpGV.

I thought one day we might want to try Cici's for the buffet. And my DH thought about it, but then wanted to go to Papa John's.

We LOVE Papa John's. It's not just the pizza, but the garlic butter to dip the crust in. YummmYY!!

But I told him I had to get opinions from some of my friends first. ;) :p

We do not have a Papa John's near us, so we get it at times like this when we are on vacation.

Any place better?? What do you think??:sunny:

Does the Papa Johns there have sitdown service?? All the ones around here are delivery/takeout only.

Personally, I like Pizza Hut. There's only one on 192 that has the buffet, though. It's near the HI Nikki Bird. I went to the one at Old Town. The pizza was good, but it had no buffet or salad bar. I was shocked about the salad bar!!!

I've heard the Giordianos (sp) down the street has pretty good pizza, too.

Thanks.

We like Pizza Hut, too. But we can get that anytime. Kind of wanted something different.

And we wouldn't be wanting to eat there. DH said that we would pick it up on the way back from a park to the condo.

I was wondering about Giodiorno's (or whatever  ). That might be a possibility.

Anyone have opinions on Pizzaria Uno, or that place in Crossroads (can't remember the name right now). :sunny:

Well...when we moved to Vegas from NJ 8 years ago, the pizza here was TERRIBLE!!! We now have two independently owned pizza places that are good enough to be served to this Joisey Girl! Chinese was also an issue, but we have PF Chang's out here, and they are frighteningly good!!!!

When we are in Orlando, we order in from Flipper's pizza. They are in the phone book, and will deliver to hotels. They are cheap and deliver on time. It's pretty good pizza, and the meatball and eggplant parms were good and filling!

The east coast is a great place for pizza(especially NY & NJ), and not to have any good places would be rotten!

Flipper's ....... I think I read about that on here before. Thanks.

I have to agree with you!:p I had to go to Texas for awhile a few years back and my friend took me out for pizza, well I just looked at him and said this is pizza??? eeewww this is not pizza!! I dont know where you are from in jersey but carmens pizza in neptune is the best!! I rarely eat from pizza hut or dominoes. For me it is just not pizza unless it comes from a real pizza parlour!:D

I agree, NJ pizza is better. And BTW, there is a PF Changs right near my house!

We don't do chains like Dominos or Pizza Hut either.

I like parlor pizza as well, with guys that banter about in Italian with the other guys in the back. (Most of the guys are nice on the eyes as well.)

As a Jersey girl with roots in Brooklyn, NY, I can state unequivocally that the pizza down here stinks. Chain pizza like Papa Johns is pretty terrible but at least it is consistent. Flippers is just NASTY. YUK, GROSS! The best I've found in the area is Subs Plus in the Williamsburg shopping plaza. There is also a Publix there for a quick grocery stop while waiting on your pizza.

Cici's pizza is just a cheap pizza buffet joint. It by no means is garbage but there is definately better tasting pizza out there. Remember, you get what you pay for & Cici's buffet price is only $3.99. Cici's pizza is the type that you eat a few bites, leave the end crust & go get another variety. The buffet is good if you want a variety in the topping & types of pizzas. Now their dessert pizza's are quite good, they also have a salad bar, a pasta dish & cheese breadsticks that we seem to eat more of than pizza. The spinich alfredo or taco seem to have the best flavor. We have eaten at Cicis several times, I think it is a good value for people with teenage kids, expecially teen boys that can eat a ton of pizza & want a variety of pizza types. You can even request a certain pizza if it is not alreay on the buffet, they will bring it to your table when its ready so you can have the first few slices before they put it on the buffet. Cicis is just down the street on Palm Pkwy, less than 1 mile from CPGV

If you want really good tasting pizza rather than something to fill a taste for pizza I would go for Papa Johns since you already know you like it so much & cant get it in your hometown. In addition to the garlic dipping sauce, also ask for the nacho cheese flavor too, we like this one better & always ask to substitute, you can buy extra dipping sauce for like 25 cents each or sometimes they will just give you extra if they are feeling nice. the Papa Johns is next to Winn Dixie grocery store in the same shopping center & does not have a sit down area, only takeout or delivery. You can walk next door to Winn Dixie for drinks, beer etc while you are waiting for your pizza (unless of course you get it delivered). Papa Johns & Winn Dixie is about 1/2 mile from CPGV

oh - forgot to mention, I had the deep dish pizza from pizzaria uno & was not impressed with the taste of the crust. they DO have excellent spaghetti & meatballs tho.

that was FANTASTIC information. DH will be SO pleased! It's SO close................I would imagine the one you are talking about is the one on South Apopka Vineland Road.

Is that the road that on the maps is parrallel to I-4 for a while?? I was wondering is this is the road that is like the back way to Universal.

Thanks so much Melissa!:sunny:

Yes, its the Apopka Vineland Rd location
to get to the shopping center for Winn Dixie & Papa Johns, take a right out the the parking lot for CPGV, at the end of the Rd take a left, just down no more than 1/4-1/2 mile is the side entrance for the shopping center. if you dont already have a winn dixie customer rewards card, signup for one online to have it mailed to you. this will get you some good savings on any snacks/drinks you may want to buy for the condo. http://winndixie.com/frames.asp?page=apply

for the back way to Seaworld & Universal, take a right out of CPGV parking lot, take another right at the stop sign. At the next stop sign will be Palm Pkwy, take a left, it will automatically become Turkey Lake Rd.

For Seaworld:
A few miles up on Turkey Lake Rd (this is the rd that runs parralel to I4 at times) will be the rd to turn to for Seaworld, it will be clearly marked with a green sign, you would take a right at that light & a few miles up on the left will be Seaworld.

For Universal:
Remain on Turkey Lake Rd, cross over Sandlake Rd, pass a shopping center that has a Big K, go a few more miles down thru another 2 sets of lights, you will then see the sign for Universal to turn to the right this road (3rd set of lights & across the street is a highschool) This road will then take you directly to the parking garage for Universal. Incidentally, just as you cross over sandlake rd, before you get to the shopping center is a 7/11, gas station, this is where I've found the lowest price gas in my driving area & always stop here to fill up & for a Crystal lite sugar free slurpee - Yum!

 ha ha ha I agree with you on this too! Especially when you go to the boardwalk pizza parlours they are usually all very handsom men!!!

Best pizza we've found is at Flippers in Old Town. I'll eat chain pizza if I have to but its a whole different food than the stuff fresh tossed at a good pizza shop.

I think Flippers has more than one location. I've only eaten at the Old Town one so I can't comment on the others but we always get dinner from there one nite.

OK. I am totally overwhelmed right now by the speed and depth of your responses, Melissa. :faint:

I brought my DH over to look at the computer and said, "This is why I frequent these boards. People like this." He couldn't believe all that he was reading.

Thanks again. You're a sweetie!

Okay---my mouth is watering! I MISS boardwalk food of all kinds! I miss the Hot Spot in Wildwood, and sausage and peppers on Seaside, and waffles and ice cream, and corn on the cob that has sat in that butter/water for three days!!!!!!

We don't do pizza chains either if we can avoid it, but we have Papa Murphy's take-and-bake out here that is pretty good, since you bake it yourself.

I was at my fave pizza place the other day, and the owner (from Brooklyn) was on the phone with his bookie. It reminded me of my youth so much I got misty. (Remember: I'm in Vegas! You don't need a bookie with all the casinos around here. LOL!!!!)

You can always tell a true Jersey shore person. Don't forget Mack's pizza, Curly's fries and fudge (Douglas, Steel's, Laura's, or whatever was your favorite). And Kohr Bros. custard.

OK PattiPB Where is your good Pizza Spots in Vegas? The only one we have found here in the last 10yrs is near our house SW Valley called N.Y. Pizza. Just had it tonight in fact.:D At our home away from home near Melbourne Fl is one of the best places in FL. Bizarro's Pizza Huge slices, Thin Crust and Gooey Cheese!

We ate at Giordano's Pizza this last trip(up by the Steak and Shake just down from Winn Dixie LBV) Not a fan of Deep Dish and it didn't win me over. Their appetizer sampler platters are huge and very good. For those of you who are fans of deep dish pizza, this place may just hit the spot.
