Let's talk menopause!

Thanks 1rockinmamato2!

It will be good to get some blood work done and discuss it with my Dr.

I am going to try the vitamin E, since my Dr. is pretty booked up right now. She can't see me until October:eek: , but I will get some answers.

I am just in back from my GYN. They did the bloodwork on me and I am indeed premenopausal....duh!!!

He gave me three choices on how to start out. Choice 1-very low dose of estrogen Choice 2- NuvoRing Choice 3- Low dose of BC pills.

Choice 2 & 3 can cause me problems with my blood pressure which I do not want to do so I selected choice 1.

He gave me a sample 1 month supply of Premarin 0.3mg and a prescription for a year. He told me to try it and to allow a couple of weeks to start seeing changes. He told me that I should see a good improvement in the mood swings, etc.

He also told me that if I was not getting the results I needed that to check with my GP (who monitors my blood presure) and talk to her about a low dose anti-depressant.

This has been one of those "cry at the drop of a hat" days. I almost lost it at the Dr's office and it took a lot of deep breathing to keep from boo hoo crying.

I sure hope this helps.

I have every symptom of perimenopause except the hot flashes and night sweats and I am only 35.:scared1: I am so glad I came to this thread. I thought I was going crazy or worse. Got to make an appointment with my gynecologist to begin evaluation.:thumbsup2

My symptoms are:

Chin hairs and hair loss
Joint pain everyday. Neck and shoulder stiffness and pain.
Severe insomnia
Heavy Periods that last longer than normal and are closer together
Mood swings and depression
Anxiety and panic episodes (never had those)
Tension headaches everyday. (never got headaches before)
Mental foginess (forgetfulness)
Fatigue
Dry eyes etc.
Loss of labido
Craving for sweets
Urinary issues and othe embarrassing new problems.
Breast pain. I'll get this really sharp pain in one of my breast and then it will stop.
vague nausea and sudden bouts of gas and diarrhea

Join the club!!!

See your Dr to be sure. They did a small few drops of blood on me this morning.

We need some kind of little "Menopause Icon"

ANY IDEAS?????????????

I agree with you mum4jenn!

We need an icon and a medal!:grouphug:

I am 41 and perimenopausal since the birth of our last child. What works the best for hot flashes that is non prescription?

My kids said I should go to work at an ice cream factory...in the freezer. The only problem is I might melt the ice cream. Or eat it in a hormonal sweet attack.

Seriously, I have no clue. If you figure it out let the rest of us know. I have fans all over the house. I have ceiling fans and floor fans and little individual fans. They are my friends and in the summer especially I use them everywhere I go in the house.

Hot flash! I had two at work today. For once, I was glad they tend to freeze us with the air conditioning. I have a fans in the house......:furious: :furious: :furious: <the closest smilie to a menopause experience.

Those are great!! I can relate to ALL of them.

Can we vote and get them added to the selection we already have???? How do we go about doing something like this?

We can talk about menopause all you'd like but I'll probably forget the entire conversation. I'll be too busy plucking chin hairs and fighting sleep deprivation
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

boy can I relate to this....

I am so happy I found this thread. Now I don't feel so alone.

For a while I was taking vitamin E at night and that definitely helped the night sweats. It was a great relief for a few months. then they came back.

I started using some over the counter medicine which stopped the hot flashes within 1 week but my ob-gyn advised against it. Mostly because both my sisters and mom had breast cancer.:

So now here I sit and while I am typing this I feel the surge come within me and it is starting. Summer is the worst.:

Love the comments about sheets off; sheets on and the plucking of the hairs from the chin:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Feel good not to be alone.

Maybe we should save all those plucked hairs for a year....have a general location meeting for all us "Special" woman..and we can have a bonfire:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

what do you think????:cheer2: :cheer2:

Or maybe we can braid all the chin hairs together and donate to lock of love!:rotfl2:

It's a JOKE!!

As I said in an earlier post, I am soooo glad I am not alone. I am glad my symptoms are all related to menopause! (If there is anything good in it!)

The Estroven worked for me for awhile, but now I think the hot flashes are too strong to be controlled. I am going to get some vitamin E and see how that works.

You are right minijeanie, the summers are really bad. I keep the air conditioning on and a ceiling fan, and a small fan in the bedroom! :sad2:

Ugh. I killed the menopause thread. How depressing.:sad2:

Anyhoo, new development. My Best friend has been in and out of the hospital with all kinds of weird symptoms but nothing seems to be wrong with her (that the doctors can find anyway though they test and test). I talked to her today and confessed some of the problems I had been experiencing and thought that she might want to have her gynecologist look into pre-menopause. Turns out her mother said the same thing to her very recently. Apparantly, early menopause runs in her family. She is 34 years old. We may be going through the same thing and so early! I've heard about women who are close having there cycles together but premenopause!?!?:scared1:

Her symptoms are:
Hot flashes accompanied by pounding heart/palpatations
Panic/anxiety attacks
chest pains
new recurrent sinus infections
tingling and numbness in extremities
bouts of nausea and intestinal distress
fatigue
weight gain in hips and thighs
depression with disturbing thoughts
her cycle has become erratic
absent mindedness and forgetfulness
internal shaking
loss of labido

Wow, I've also been waking up with the tingling/numbness in my arms and hands. Another wonderful symptom.

Maybe my "new allergies" are related too!?

I have a stuffy, then runny nose every morning, just thought I needed to dust more!
