Let's Talk Bras....

I'm a 34D and while I'm not having trouble finding bras, I'd like to find some that really really last. A long time ago (when I was a 34B, sigh) I bought French bras by DIM. They cost $140 almost 20 years ago but the bras lasted for TWO YEARS.

Of course, now I've had my DD, my shape has changed, and I can't find those bras anymore....

I'm thinking about trying IPEX by Victoria's Secret, do they hold up well? I always machine-wash (using a bra bag) and hang dry.

I would think them hanging super low would cause back pain and whatnot though.
I don't mean to hijack this thread...

No back pain. I don't hunch over. There's no weight being carried anywhere but the front, no redistribution to shoulders and back. I'm not huge people, and I don't hang super low. I don't pass the pencil test but I can't tuck the girls into my britches either. LOL. Maybe because I tend to be more wide than out, I have issues and I was suffering pain from lymphatic fluid being stuck. Now I'm flowing free and the pain is gone.

Carry on with the original discussion. I was just offering another viewpoint...like I said, I don't mean to hijack the thread with this discussion. Not that I mind answering questions. PM me if you are curious because you are tempted to get it a try...

Geez. I have $20 bras on their second year and they are like new (machine washed...no bra bag) and hung dry.

Just ordered 3 new bras yesterday from Just My Size. Ready for this one....

I'm a 44 J. Sad but true. The bras that I'm currently wearing are a 44 II but I'm spilling over the front and someone told me to go up a cup size. Here's the link to the ones that I ordered. I like the fact that they have a back supporter (not that I like wearing it, but it does hold them up better)

36DD here and I like the Cacique from Lane Bryant. You don't have to be a larger woman to buy there. I am a size 6 but I have a discount store here called Gabriel Bros. that often has them for 5 bucks or less, that's how I found them at first or I would have never thought to buy from Lane Bryant. I wait for a good coupon and a sale and get them pretty reasonably priced.

I too found a Cacique at Gabriel bro. and was shocked to find the bras came from Lane Bryant. They have some very comfortable, flirty bras, that I am now brand loyal. I actually got on Lane Bryant mailing list from just buying a few bras and they now send my $15/$15 checks about 4 times a year that I use toward just bras. Their sizes start at 36c.

I'm a 36D and I wear the camisoles at Wal Mart or Target. The Sweet Nothings everyday control hold me in place.

I love love Cacique!!!

I took my 14yo to Victoria's Secret for a fitting. Lets just say the ones she was wearing were NOT doing the job. She is very quiet and shy so I told the lady to just DO IT...and don't let her get away with saying the first one fits so she can get out of it, make sure it fits her! She ended up with a $40 bra and a $20 sports bra for PE..but at least now we know what size she wears! (36DD). She sure didn't get them from me LOL

oooh! Tell me the brand!

See quote below. :)
Kohls actually has a LOT of bras. So you could also go and just try on a bunch. And they are so cheap that you can buy a couple and figure out which work best.

I used to wear VS Body by Victoria but the price was just getting to be ridiculous.

I went to Kohls and bought a few different bras. When I found one I liked, I went back and purchased more. They are about half the price of the ones at VS. The brand is called Barely There.

Here's a link. (Hopefully it works.)

I don't wear a larger size though so I'm not sure how it works for ladies with bigger bust sizes.

They say hand wash but I'm too lazy for that. I just was them on delicate and hang them to dry. Some I've had for over a year now and they are still in new condition. Can't say the same for some of the VS bras I've purchased in the past.

Thanks for all the reviews on your favorite Bra that keep the girls in place.

You all have given me a lot of brands to look into.

Of course, getting measured again and finding a brand that works for me is probably key to having a Bra that gives me what I need.

I knew I could count on this board for Support!:lmao:

The balconette bra is actually the style of bra. The brand is Cacique from Lane Bryant. I forgot to add that to my prior post.

DD to D myself. Recently decided to use this:

Now I honestly use them or go braless. I'm much more comfortable. Was having aches and pains prior to this. Now, for the first time in years, I have been pain free.:thumbsup2

Not for everyone... Sometimes I just pop them in to go into public, them I pop them out as soon as I hit my car and head home.:rotfl: Cracks my DH up.;)

I'm glad that they work for your needs, but I've gotta tell you; several of the women in those photos look distinctly droopy to me.

Essentially those are nip shields that prevent chafing, and if that's all you need, then that's great, but if you need actual support, I don't think it looks like they accomplish it.

Me, I mostly wear Olga's. I like the way the straps are positioned on the back.

I'm oddly sized. Small around, but my cup runneth over. :rolleyes1 I'm a 34F (that is in UK sizes) I swear by Freya balconettes. They are unlined and offer great support. They are NOT budget friendly, though. They run about $60-$75 each. They have great matching panties. (I have to have sets)

They also have an ebay site where you can get them cheaper.

Bali girl here.

I used to purchase at Kohls but found that I can get better prices and free shipping when buying them directly.

I have a couple of these. I really like them. Very comfortable.

I'm a no frills girl when it comes to bras. Some of my favorites are sports bras. I like coverage and support. I don't like lace, padding, demi-cups, bows, or crazy colors.

Shopping for bras is about as much fun as swim suit shopping. It takes forever to find ones I like! I'm amazed at how many bras look like breast plates. I mean these things could stand on their own! So many funky shapes and styles. Finding a good one (to me) is like finding a needle in a haystack!
