I have been racking my brain trying to come up with some good gifts for this year. I better get started now or I will never get done. I do general crafts, crochet, knit, sew. I can do scrapbooking stuff but, usually only do it on the computer.
Anyone have any ideas? Especially for men, they are always difficult. I would prefer not to knit much as I hate knitting on a deadline.

So far the only things I can think of are:

For adults
basket with baking stuff and sewn aprons
altered clipboards either as picture frames or chalboard ones
coffee cup warmer (knit)

For kids
art basket with lots of different types of craft supplies

A lot of years in the past we have done a DVD in a basket or something with candy and popcorn for the couples. Last year I sewed felt food for my nieces.

TIA

The men I know LOVED the felted clogs I've knitted for them.:goodvibes

I'm making the Fleece no sew blankets for a few people this year. They are easy and you can buy the fleece to match each personality.

I have seen those, they look very cool. I don't know if I am up for it, maybe for Dh.

I thought about this too. There are some really cute fleece prints out there.

Last year we did clear ornaments with strips of rolled up scrapbook paper inside. they were really cute.

I make scrapbook calendars every year for us and the grandparents. It is a bunch of work but I know they enjoy them.

I would love more ideas though, I am not sure what else to do this year.

JoAnn's has an AMAZING sale Thanksgiving weekend! Either Friday or Saturday, 6:00 am - 9:00 am, I've gotten solids for $1.99/yard and prints for $2.99-4.99. This is the only "early bird" shopping I do all year, and it is definitely worth it!

And if the blankets seem overwhelming, I made scarf & hat sets for nieces & nephews one year -- each set only took about half a yard.

For baking, I've made "cookie in a jar" sets for various couples/families and then baked a batch the day before distributing -- by including some already baked cookies, they know what they will be able to make and will be less likely to just "save" the jar of ingredients. (One of the most popular was a white chocolate & dried cranberry cookie -- quite yummy and it looks festive.)

For something a little different, dipped pretzels (in chocolate or candy melts) sprinkled with holiday sprinkles look festive tied up in a cellophane bag, and can be combined with other sweet/savory treats for a family to enjoy along with a movie or board game.

Have fun! :santa:

I thought of this earlier and then forgot it, lol. Do you just print it out and have it bound at kinkos or someplace?

 I just bumped the other thread we had about this!!

Cool thank you! I guess I should have searched a little harder. :thumbsup2

Felted clogs? I've never thought of that as an idea... i just might need to look for a pattern for that. Thanks for the idea!

I take a LOT of pictures. So for the last several years I do a Calender for my family. Generally I use a picture(s) from that month the year before. So Jan 07 had pics from Jan 06. So I will probably do that for one idea.

We are also going to have a MIX party with the moms from our playgroup. We are picking 2 or 3 different mix recipes. Then eacher person will make at least 3 of each. We are going to use them for neighbors, teacher, co-workers, etc....etc. I think we are doing a dip mix, alphabet soup, and a cookie or brownie one. Sort of a way to socialize and enjoy each others company, plus make some nice gifts.

Last year I did cocoa mixes and tied a small bag of marshamallows to the jar. It was really good too!

Na that would be way to easy LOL I have to do things the hard way.

I make each page the same but I make 3 originals and 2 color copies.
I also make the calendar part myself and then take it to Staples and have them bind it
I also make the front cover.

You can then take these apart at the end of the year and put them into a book and keep them to look back on.

I'm joining in here ;)

I'm always looking for ideas on what to make people, rather than just buy junk. I'm super crafty but it's pretty late right now so I'll be back tomorrow with ideas.

Wow that is awesome! I usually do my stuff all digital but, I like the paper stuff better. My yarn habit takes all my money :rotfl: My step mom has a room full of scrapbook stuff, it is craft heaven. :cloud9:

Thanks! Now I just have to figure out what I am making. I do know I want some Colts fleece for Dh and Ds pants.

Thanks for starting this thread! Money is going to be pretty tight this year fo rme, so these ideas are fantastic!! Keep them coming!

The new sew blankets are a great idea. I never thought of those for people before. Do you just buy fleece and hem the edges, or is there more (or even less)to it? How many yards makes a decent blanket for an adult do you think? There are tons of sports team prints out there and I have a few people in mind to make these for.

You basically cut the 4 corners then cut the edges in 1" increments and tie knots thats it if you do a search for no sew fleece blankets there are some great instructions for it. Or you can go to joann's and they sell a kit with both pieces of fleece and tell you how to cut it.

Good luck!!

I thought of something :)

i scrapbook and make cards and have TONS of paper/rubber stamps, etc so I'm going to make stationery sets for my children's teachers. I'm thinking a set of 10 notecards with envelopes would be nice.

I as a teacher would alway enjoy this as many times we need a card for something and I don't have time to make it.
