Let's speculate... again... The next DVC(s)?

What resort will DVC announce within the next 1-2 years, if any???

  • CR (Contemporary Resort) Looonng time rumor.

  • STOL (old airstip east of MK parking) New rumor.

  • AKL

  • EP (Eagle Pines) Will this be Re-announced?

  • Other WDW location (Poly, GF, POP, etc.)

  • DL

  • Hawaii - 'think BIG'?

  • Other off-site (Colorado, St. Thomas, etc.)

  • None - not going to happen so soon, SSR sell out first

As a newer person on these boards, I find this convo fascinating!! I follow the logic that SSR has to be mainly sold out for another DVC to be announced, however, do we know, or is there anyway to find our what percentarge of SSR is sold?

Um...DVC POP???? Is that a typo?

That might not be as strange as it sounds.

FWIW, (might wanna keep your tin foil Mouse Ears nearby)

About six months ago, a well regarded poster on the RADP who works for WDI, posted this: DVC has agreements with all the Resorts (except the Poly, no room) for DVC additions. Tentative locations have been selected. For example, at the GF, DVC would supposedly be located on the parking lot side of the Monorail.
Ok, ears off!!

My choice is AKL, because from what I've heard preliminary sitework (utilities, etc) are already in place. Near the pool, behind the bus stops. :scratchin

I had seen that post a while back too. I don't frequent RADP but had heard of his post and tracked it down. Verrry interesting stuff. I had forgotten that Poly was off the list.

For the newbies on the board (me!), what/where is Eagle Pines?

Also, what lessons did they learn at HHI and VB??

As far as the second question... The selling of HH and VB are slightly before my time but they were considered a disappointment. They did not sell very fast and Disney had to give major incentives to sell the remaining points. In the case of VB a large portion of the resort on the other side of the road was not built and some of the land sold. Many then concluded that DVC could not sell outside WDW. However, Dean a very insightful DISer, has commented these two resorts failed for a different but similiar reason. In VB's case they chose a good location (on the beach) for the resort but not in a popular destination. With the reverse true about HH; they chose popular destination (HHI) but a less desirable location.

Here's one not on the list. Found this on Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_World_Resort#On-Site_Disney_Resorts
(yes, I know, less reliable than gossip from a bus driver)

"Coming Soon: The Tipton Hotel Based on the Hotel from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody[citation needed]
This hotel will be the newest of its kind, with Disney's newest Monorail Mark VIII going right next to it and also the newest of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts as well. It has been rumored that the new river that will lead into the hotel will give the hotel a nice water theme and have the possibility of Disney's newest water park to be built adjacent. More information to come as it is released!" :rotfl2:

Since it mentions monorails, new river, and a water park, ths implies the Stolport. The water park could be a revamped River Country. pirate:
I find this scarry(and proably bogus), YMMV.
*edit* Wiki must have figured it out, the article has already been removed

This is not bogus, from an Eyes and Ears article covering a town hall meeting at the Contemporary in late June:
"Bob gave highlights from the week’s board of directors meeting, including the election of a new chairman, John Pepper, and explained that future plans for the Company include the growth of Disney Cruise Line, Disney
Vacation Club :thumbsup2 and possibly the planning of a new theme park."

"Bob" would be Bob Iger, and of course there were no details.

I still think the next DVC resort will be at Disneyland. It'll give all those Californians a "home" to use thier membership. They have been hard selling DVC for a over a year at Disneyland. Plus It would be nice for the established DVC members on the east coast a chance to visit another Disney Park, effieceintly with thier points.

I also think that the next Disney World resort will be Contemporay, but only after SSR reaches 85% to 90% sold out.
