Yeah, this. Disney isn’t playing fiddley foot with the answer here just to be jerks. If they wanted to stay vague, they could have just said “we can’t comment on that yet,” or “we haven’t made a firm decision yet.” I get that there are a lot of direct owners who don’t like that resale owners will be able to book here, or maybe Riv owners who aren’t happy that this new product will have higher resale value than what they bought, but come on…
Think a lot of people also bought direct RIV points to make sure they had access to the tower and are now disappointed that it turns out they didn't need to.

If they rebalance the bungalows back down I would most certainly buy in even if it were down to cabin point levels. I don’t know if they have any incentive to do so, but it’d be nice a perk.
I’m fighting addonitis at the moment but telling myself that I already own 275 at VGF and I can always walk over to Poly for Dole Whip…. I enjoy the resort but as long as the bungalows are $2k/night (or more!) I don’t need to own there.

This is how I fought off buying at VGF despite it being an amazing deal, I don’t need 2 resorts right next to each other, especially at MK which is our #3 of 4 WDW parks 😂

Still going to buy into Poly, but now I’ll strongly consider resale. Also timetable is a lot more loose now that it’s same. I can pick up resale in 5 years and be just fine. We have over 600 points as is, no rush to add on the next.

I may be just hoping here but won't this news be the tide that raises all ships? Yes Poly resale will go up but won't all be affected positively considering this shiny new toy is available to all now? Yes I 'm sure 7 month availability could be difficult but no one is thinking that right now.

Yes, a lot of people who otherwise would've bought direct points will now be buying resale contracts.

I sure hope not. We bought RIV direct because we wanted an Epcot area resort without being restricted to just RIV. Buying RIV for access to Poly tower was never a good idea.

To me, the fact that they are adding it gives makes me wonder if resale restections might be going away. My guess is most RIv and VDH owners don’t care abut whether others have them or not. I certainly don’t.

But, I think having three main resorts (forget AUL )selling with them…assuming CFW gets them….and one without makes the idea worthless and IMO, DVD loose credibility that this is a strategy for them.

Maybe the slower VDH sales are finally enough to make them reconsider them.

What was the estimated number of 1-bedrooms in the Poly Tower?
@aka Charles had a good post some months back.

This brings the my total number to 262, not including floors 9 & 10.

By view:
Standard view - 125
Pool view - 30
Lagoon/Theme Park view - 107

By villa size:
2 Bedroom, dedicated - 6
Duo Studio - 30
1 Bedroom - 88 (including lock-offs)
Studio - 138 (including lock-offs)

The upper two floors could be Grand Villas, with or without a few more studios.
It is hard to tell so far, as the layout is very different from the other floors.
If there are 8 units total on those 2 floors, the grand total would be 270.

Wow I was I wrong. Wow. Nice job to those that picked up Poly resale on the cheap!
I was really hoping to get a deal closed that I was going to use the proceeds from to finally buy in at Poly and it looks like I didn’t make it in time unfortunately. Overall I’m glad it’s the same association, but man the prices are going to hurt if I end up buying there.

I think Disney probably has made the right business decision since they have some of the best dollars and cents people on the team but...I still can't believe they decided to about face and go this way! I would've put good money on them being separate even if it was separate with no restrictions. Really quite shocked!

That's not going to happen becausr it'd effectively lower the number of points they could sell for the tower. Disney would even prefer the bungalows empty over lower sales revenue. When occupied Disney doesn't really care if bungalows are filled with points guests and they prefer cash because breakage.

I think at this point you just have to wait and see how the 7 month game will play out. Will it be as easy as it is to get current Poly studios or will it be like getting BC during high season. That's still a ways away though.

Was about to agree to a VGF contract today but this made me have second thoughts. Now I might want to do a Poly contract but prices are close to parity now....

You’re probably right. We have a big family so I need about 300 points to make buying in worthwhile for us. If I can get 2bdrms or 2 studios easily at the 7 month window then I can just buy Saratoga or something.

They wanted to announce now because they don’t want people to wait through Cabin and continued RIV sales for an answer.

If this answer steers you that way, they don’t want you to be paralyzed with choices waiting to find out.

So they made sure it was asked and answered.

This is how I know it’s not a sleight of hand. The whole purpose of saying it was supposed to be to provide buying clarity.

If it keeps being misinterpreted as them being too cute by half, I expect that they’ll clarify.

That’s exactly why I said they have no incentive to do so lol. If they really cared about the bungalows being rented out, they could’ve redistributed those points to the studios but haven’t done so the whole time. I don’t expect them to but it would’ve been nice.
