In anticipation of a weekend of keeping our slides open (although at least this time we aren’t required to keep them open the entire time--we just have to try), I thought it might be fun to share some memories from our weekends keeping our Everest rides open. I know we all got a bit stir crazy being stuck in our rooms for hours and hours, and many funny stories came out of that weekend.

So, here are some of my stories:

Sometime during the weekend, I realized that if I sat in just the right spot next to Aengus, I could hit him in the face, and boy did I enjoy doing that. It sure broke up the monotony. I also hit a few other team members, but Aengus was the most fun to hit. He can’t be a true lava boy with all of the marks on his face from the beatings ;)

Aengus had a little friend stalking him throughout the weekend. It always seemed she was standing outside of our team area begging to come in, and she was particularly fond of my game of hitting Aengus. She did manage to get into the team area at one point by following Aengus into our teleporter lobby.

Probably the funniest moment that entire weekend came near the end of the competition Sunday night. It was me, Redbaybound, Aengus, Lifeof, and I think DesertCat and Cazalet may have been there as well. We were all watching the Olympic Closing Ceremonies, and chatting about it when we were watching. All of the sudden, their was a little presentation by Canada, as they are hosting the next Olympic games. They showed these people running with big white blocks, and we all just started laughing, because they looked like Ice Cube chairs, which we had all so desperately worked to win that month. It was just about the funniest thing that happened that weekend.

The other thing that was pretty funny was going into the Great Movie Ride, and racing against friends. I would always make sure I got a head start ;) Jellyrolls likes to win you know.

The best thing that came out of that weekend was the strengthening of friendships with my team members who I spent many hours manning the room with--Aengus, Cazalet, Redbaybound, DesertCat, Lifeof (although he doesn't count, as we were already great friends), and Dooza (who spent many hours manning the room with us, even though she was not on our team).

LOL! I remember Canada and the ice block chairs. I was falling off my chair laughing! And poor Aengus, I kept wishing there was virtual Excederin for him.
I made great friends that weekend too.

Our team was great, in that someone would ride a great Everest ride and come back and tell us, and then we all went (one at a time usually) to check out that ride too. That way we rode lots of rides without leaving our room unmanned.

I kept getting dc in those everest rides though and seldom got all the way through a single ride. I never did get all the way through the Yeti Path from the Zeta girls. I did manage to race all the way through the great movie ride. That was proably my favorite of the competition!

I hope the rides are a little shorter this year. Bigger doesn't mean better.

Next to ours, of course ;)

I agree with the shorter rides. I know we can have up to 30 rooms, but I think 20 is a much better number.

Did anyone count the hours.. like being in a holding cell after a night of partying?

"eat more hours dudes"
"even more hours dudes"
"fix more hours dudes"..

We were set on ONLY building magic kingdom attractions before this competition, but we've kept our Everest and have made it part of the main park. So basically, I'm glad this competition pretty much forced us to expand, even if we saw squat.

ahhhh those were the days, OMG we are going to do that again?!?! what are we thinking???? LOL

Do we have to call vmk on-star this time to send a staff out there? rof;

Ah yes. The good old days. I remember Jellyrolls chasing me around
so that she could hit me the way she hit Aengus. :)

But mostly she'd send me messages like "Boogies" while we were bored.
And I do remember seeing members from other teams visit, and like
Cazalet, our team members took turns riding other teams' rides.
(I really loved the ice rink at the end of your ride.)

I remember being too stubborn to leave because I wanted to wait and
see when a judge would arrive. Turns out we had been judged next to
last on the last day, and we felt paranoid during the final hours.
We thought, "What if they forgot about judging us?"

And we had lots of visitors who would hang around, too. Many kids
were asking to be on our team, not knowing they can't just join us
during the event. "Can I work here?" was something I'm sure a lot of
teams saw in their Base Camps!

But we did have our own cute little Yeti, disivyco. I think she added
something fun to the Base Camp experience. Every time I'd see her
"Gr Roar!", I'd giggle.

OMG!! We all went tent crazy.

At one point we were standing at the edge of the tent staring out into the jungle calling for them!! Low and Behold, in the distance, what did we see? Green ears! Hiding in the grass, suddenly the faint sound of laughing was heard. They were laughing at us, And having pizza! Yes, we could smell it!!

We had no choice, we had to send out a search party. Finally a member of our team located BABS! And we discovered why they were laughing! It seems they forgot to put us on their list!! Even though we had been accepted. BABS managed to locate us and rode our ride.

Did I mention that four emails to VMK staff later and we still DO NOT have the pin all the teams were promised!!

OH SUCH GREAT FUN!

Yes, I am doing it again. (I told you we went tent crazy)!!!

I had fun that weekend- my family was all out of town so I was "home alone" and spent the entire weekend on my computer and most of it in our lobby.

The Zetas were all wearing our cheatoes pants and short keys ruled- we had a full dialog and everyone had bits and pieces of it stored and we'd all shout it out

but then things like warning that the riders should hope the yeti eats the person in front of them- and asking that people not feed the yeti but feel free to feed the hippos

I think the end was when we were just giddy from being in that white blur of a room for soooo long and TigressJewel's soldiers and tiki and lumiere started hitting on me- that was just too much lol.

Briar and I were both determined not to leave the room- we wanted to be there when we were judged- and I think we both dc before the judge left our base camp lol- and all of us in a mild panic as the time was running out and we hadn't been judged yet.

We did have our fair share of serenaders too- those kids hanging around making up songs about our ride lol... the ones who got very upset about not being able to join our team and the ones like disivyco who just fit right in and spent almost as many hours in our camp as the members did.

Towards the end we all realized that we had no idea what the prize was if there is one at all and I decided it was a yeti pin and declared us winners because I had one in my inventory... and other teams would stop by to visit (jellyrolls really helped to break the monotony at times :) ) and we would let them know that they already won too lol...

I had a great time- despite the exuastion and stress of late judging- I got to know some great people- and before we were even judged our team all announced that they'd do it again in an instant... and hey we are- and I suppose in another 3-4 months we can do a post of our memories from the slide competition...

Aengus, I've asked myself this question a thousand times since reforming Team Boogies.

Briar, I send out Boogies messages even when I'm NOT bored. I spent quite a bit of time in your room (and the room of the team with Berrygirl, Sea, Out, and Alien) under my mules. My mule was even invited to sit in the inner sanctum of the Cheetos team base camp (and I didn't even have to put on cheeto pants).

Don't expect much entertainment from DisIvyCo in your shallow end this time, Briar. She is now a very important part of Team Boogies.

I'll be sure to break out a mule and harrass the other teams in their base camps again this time around :)

And I vow to continue to hit Aengus because it's fun :)

lets be different this time!!! lets hit someone else?!?!?! what do you say? :)

LOL! I remember your mule hanging out in our base camp. I was telling
people I was wearing "Cheat toes pants" - because I rolled in "cheat toes".

And yes, VirtuallyMe broke out a mule to do "dc duty" to keep our ride
open in case we crashed. She and I were Short Keys Goddesses, and
many of the other girls (and our Zeta Boy Bezoar) also seemed to favor
the short keys, too. :) She and TigressJewel and I were base camp
judge junkies. LOL!

And....it was in base camp that I shared my idea for the Duck Duck Boats
game before I put it together. :)

Next time I visit the Boogies camp, I hope you won't hit me. ;)

All I remember was hanging out in my friend's ride rooms because my team leader forgot me on the ride registration. :/
