"Let's See What We Can See!"- Surviving WDW With Three Under 3! New TR Link 5/7!

What are you doing with your luggage while you are at Disney Springs? I also tried a 3 day cruise first, and that's a great plan.
That’s a great question.

@Mollydolly334 you may wish to rent as car as opposed to using Uber. We’ve done that on the day we left the cruise so that we had a place to leave our luggage while we were at DS.

I am so excited for you! I've been on six cruises, 3 of them without kids- 5 of them Disney! I also take Bonine every night. That's all I need! I start the day before flying, and am good to go! I love your laid-back attitude. Just take it all in, keep the Navigator app pulled up, and do the things you feel like! Try to go to all the nighttime shows- they are SO good! And just enjoy your time together! Oh- I know you said no drink package (assuming maybe you mean the ones tied to dinner) BUT if you or J drink beer, consider the beer mug! It's a good deal- and you get to keep your final mug! I also love asking about drink specials and drink of the day- they are a bit cheaper!!
Thank you so much!!! We truly had an AMAZING time and were able to get so much done despite not having a real "plan." The Navigator app was so helpful and it allowed us to do lots of things that we wouldn't have necessarily sought out (different trivias, the diaper dash, etc.). Oh, and Jake DEFINITELY took advantage of the "drink of the day" ;)
Yay!!! We were on this boat with the kids in 2018 and loved it.

This was our plan with our cruise this past October. If I did well we were going to do an Alaskan one next. I did not do well and cruises are now out of the pictures. Word of advice, do not try the patch. I am still dealing with vision issues from it.

You are doing the right things. I first got seasick when we were on our Disney cruise in 2018. I was fine on the 2 we did before having kids (I blame my seasickness on the kids). All the cast members were great and gave me suggestions. Sour apples help as well as well as drinking ginger ale. I lived on ginger ale that week.

Also, my dad (he was in the Navy) said to look at the horizon. For whatever reason this tricks your brain and stops the seasickness for that time. When we did the boat excursion when you go below deck to watch the fish, the seasickness was really bad. I lasted all of 2 seconds before running to be up top. I spent the whole time up top and didn't even get to see one fish but I saw how they got the fish to the boat. If I looked a the horizon I was fine. If I looked at the land close by I felt sick.

I wouldn't count on hanging at the main pool. They are always very crowded. We opted to go to the Adult Only area. There is like a pool you can sit in (not very deep at all but enough to cool off in) and has like a mushroom fountain. It was never packed with people.

The first cruise we went on we didn't keep our luggage and regretted it. It was horrible. After that we always keep our bags and leave first. It is so much easier. We usually don't eat breakfast on the ship that morning either. We usually drive to the ports so we get out as soon as possible and stop somewhere once away from the traffic.

One of my favorite things to do on this cruise was to sit on the pool deck at night after everything settled for the day and watch the movie they had playing on the big screen. Sometimes the kids hung out with me but other times it was just me. It was just a peaceful way to end the night. I am surprised I didn't just fall asleep for the night in one of the chairs.
Thank you so much for the tips and tricks!!! I read through all of these and kept them in mind the entire cruise!!! I was super lucky and did not experience any difficulties with motion (more to come in the TR). But I truly think that the preventative measures and tips you described helped, so THANK YOU! I wasn't planning on using the patch, but this confirmed by suspicions with it. I have heard that it either works amazingly or makes you super sick, and I wasn't about to take that bargain!!

You were correct in that the main pool was crazy crowded! But the adult pool was very reasonable and where we spent all of our pool time :) We did try the AquaDuck a couple times though!!
Yay!!!! I am so jealous, only because I want to be away right now lol.

This is perfect! So much nicer to have the sea day than a Nassau day. I have been to Nassau more times than I care to count. I don't even get off the boat anymore. Serenity Bay is heaven. I spent an entire day there in a chair with my book. They have chairs you can take a put in the shallow water. It was so nice.

This is the perfect way to break into cruising. We did the same thing with my husband before we booked our Hawaii cruise for our honeymoon. Just enjoy the ship and the amenities. The trivia is super fun and the shows are can't miss!

I have heard green apples are also very good for motin sickness.
We LOVED everything and it was the perfect first cruise. We are already planning our next one!! A Hawaiian cruise sounds AMAZING, was it with DCL??

We did this exact same thing with the chairs in the water at Serenity Bay! It felt HEAVENLY and kept us from getting too warm!!

I am so excited for you! I have already given you some of my tips, but I did forget one thing - some people have success with alcohol wipes and nausea. So I carry a few of those in individually wrapped squares just in case it hits me.

I second the late-night movie watching! Even if you don't stay for the whole thing, being up there at night is just so relaxing.

We love second dining. The servers have more time, and we are late eaters. Plus, fewer small kids!

They change up soft serve flavors, so don't skip out on those! I am not sure if they will serve them, but ask about the Mickey Churro waffles on your Castaway Day. They are not on the buffet other days and not on every ship, but if you can get them, you will not regret the wait!

Also, if they do the Jack-Jack's Diaper Dash, go see it! We LOVE watching the babies race!

I hope you love it. With DCL, there are so many things to do that it can feel overwhelming. Just know that it will probably be your first of many!
I'm lucky I didn't need them, but thanks for the tip on the alcohol wipes!! Your tips were SO helpful and we so appreciated them; it made things seem SO much less overwhelming and really contributed to us making the most of things! SO THANK YOU!!!!!! Treasure next??? Hehe!
So exciting! Enjoy!
Thank you so much!! We had an incredible time!
DCL is so fun! definitely hang out in the adults only areas. The shows are fantastic. We loved having late dinner. Enjoy!
We had such an amazing time, thank you so much!!!
Oh wow!!! SOOOOOOOOO excited to hear about your cruise! I think you already have things planned out so well! We took our first cruise 11 years ago and have been on 5 others since. (We now sail RCL as we're priced out of Disney but, would run back to DCL if we could!! It truly is the BEST!)

Southwest currently makes doing these switches so easy. Hoping the pendulum swings back after the changes they've announced and they find something in the middle. After 20 years of dedicated SW travel we may need to start looking elsewhere. :(

A 3 night sailing is the perfect way to give sailing a try and you have a great itinerary! We love the Fantasy!!!

That's a great location!

❤️❤️❤️

One night at each - perfect!

For your first cruise, I think it's great not to try to do too much in the way of specialty items! You'll have more than enough to do with the included options!

Disney does it well!!

We did this the last time we sailed Disney and it was awesome! Woke up bright and early - excited much??? - had our luggage picked up, ate in the restaurant and then wandered around the 3 All Star resorts as it was our first time there. We loved it! We met for the cruise around 9:30 I believe and were whisked away to the port!

SO MUCH FUN!!!!

And, if you want, there's a cool opportunity to stand on deck 11, starboard as the ship leaves Port Canaveral and wave at family and friends at home as you sail away!! Port Canaveral webcam is a service offered by Fish Lips restaurant and if you're waving they'll zoom right in on you!

This was my daughter and I in 2023. :)

Once we tried late dining we never turned back! It allows us a more leisurely afternoon, we grab and snack while getting ready or, enjoy a show. We love late dining!

So much to do! Trivia is such fun!

It's a great one!

We did simple white t-shirts with VVVVVVV cut along the bottom edge, tied with a red sash and black pants. Add that to the Pirate bandana you'll be given and it's a simple Pirate costume if you're looking for something to quickly throw together.

⛱️ 👙🌞🕶️💛

Honestly if I had months and months to plan I think I'd book pretty much what you have planned! Well done!!

Excited to hear all about this adventure - if you care to share it with us.

Have the very best time!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for all of the tips and tricks!!!! I loved reading through these before we left :) I'm so excited to write a TR for this trip- I have so much to say and so many opinions, haha!! :) But overall, it really was the perfect first cruise. We had such an amazing time and are already planning our next one!!

Ugh, we are so sad about Southwest too. :( The free checked bag was a game-changer for chronic over-packer me!!
Awesome! Have a great cruise. So fun to enjoy a Disney ship for a few nights.

And love the beach. We have rented bikes, and also taken the shuttle to the adult part at Castaway. We prefer the adult part, as much more quiet.

I take motion sickness drugs, and okay with cruising. I find the best place is the highest deck, in the middle of the ship if I am feeling queasy. Luckily, the rest of my family does not get seasickness.

I had been looking at a short Disney cruise since last month, and the other day, got a great rate for a balcony on the Wish in June. Last time I was on that ship, when my kids were little, and was a DH and I one. This time, it’s my adult daughter and me. We are excited. Our last cruise, a week one, was cancelled due to that virus, and we haven’t been back to cruising in years now. Last one we did take, was a Carnival one, week long from Tampa. Looking forward to be back at PC.
Thank you so much!!! :) I'm so happy to report that I didn't feel ANY seasickness (I'll touch more on that in my TR)! It was a perfect first cruise and I'm so excited to share!!
YAY!! This is the perfect itinerary to get your feet wet with cruising. I hope you love it!! I will second most of the suggestions people have already given, and also add that if you DO end up loving it--book a placeholder before you get off the ship! It's $250, then you have two years to book and sail on a future cruise, where you will also receive a 10% discount. If you end up not being able to use it, you get your money back, so there's no obligation and no $ loss, which is also great.

I'm at 29 days til Mom and I head to WDW for a couple days then sail on the Wish over Memorial Day weekend. Your plans to just relax and enjoy everything DCL has to offer is exactly what we're doing this time around, too. No excursions, just one martini tasting, and it will be just the best!!

I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
We ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! I'm so excited to share all about it in my TR :) You are SO CLOSE to your trip, ahhhhh!! Sad we can't meet up but I'm sending you all the pixie dust and I hope you have an amazing cruise!!!!
Yes! When I had surgery last year and felt sick when waking up they were very quick to put an alcohol swab in my oxygen mask. It stopped the feel of being sick really quickly. Like almost instantly. I asked the doctor at my follow up about this and she said they don't know why it works but they use it for women that are in labor too.
That is so interesting!!! I'm lucky that I didn't have to use it, but I had a couple just in case. I looked it up and I heard that the smell makes you breathe slower so you're not hyperventilating and working yourself up.
Congrats on your cruise! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I feel like last minute, spur of the moment trips end up being some of the most memorable. :goodvibes
Thank you so much!!!! :) That definitely turned out to be true, it was the best "happy accident" trip!!
I hope it works out for us all to meet up. My schedule is till open for Saturday the 24th.

How exciting that your just days away from a Disney Cruise!

I think a 3 night cruise would be great for getting your feet wet. I hope I'm brave enough to try it someday. Motion sickness is my enemy. It sounds like you're well prepared. I wanted to second the alcohol wipes. It suppose to trick your brain away from the sickness. I'm planning to bring them on our trip in May. I'm worried about several rides in Epic.
YES! I will chat with Caroline and we can definitely set up a time to meet up! Excited to meet you!! :)

Bonine was great for me; I wonder if you can try this for Epic?? I'm planning on taking it before our US parks as well and I think it'll really help!!
I love this! It didn't take him long to convert! :goodvibes

Yay! Sounds like a perfect first cruise to see how you'll like it! Castaway Cay is just perfect 🥰

Perfect deck and location! It's easy to get up to the pool deck and Cabanas from there :thumbsup2

Sounds like you have it all figured out! Just relax and have fun! Definitely try to fit in some Trivia, it's one of our favorite activities on the ship!
So happy to see you back on the DIS, Kelly!!!! I miss you and it's so bittersweet to see all of the flashbacks come up from our Epic trip 6 years ago (can you believe??) :)

We LOVED being on Deck 9, you are so right that it is the perfect location!! We loved being able to take the stairs when the elevator got crowded.

Excited to share my thoughts in my TR!!!

So, we tried to book a car last-minute because of these recommendations, but everything was booked of course (that's what we get for trying so last-minute)! We ended up just Ubering to DS and rolling our luggage while there. Our suitcases were very small and light so it was a total non-issue. But it would have been more convenient to rent a car- next time for sure!!

Thank you so much for the tips and tricks!!! I read through all of these and kept them in mind the entire cruise!!! I was super lucky and did not experience any difficulties with motion (more to come in the TR). But I truly think that the preventative measures and tips you described helped, so THANK YOU! That is great. I can't wait to hear all about it. I wish more would have helped me. I love cruising and had so many trips planned (I really wanted to do an Alaskan one) but they are just not in the plans now.
Bonine was great for me; I wonder if you can try this for Epic?? I'm planning on taking it before our US parks as well and I think it'll really help!!
I used Bonine on my last Disney Trip and it helped a ton. I didn't feel sick at all the whole trip. I didn't push the boundaries either. I didn't do Soar'n, Flight of Passage or the tea cups and I am not a big coaster person especially if I can't see the track to make a decision. But even Toy Story Mania and Dinosaur can make me feel off enough and the Bonine helped with that a lot.
