Let's see what this family does flying solo - the POST trip report!

I would love to do a DISmeet iwth you...too bad we go at different times of year. (: I think we'd have a blast meeting you and your family. Maybe one of these years we will switch from September to May.

We'll eventually need to switch to the Summer since we'll have a tougher time getting Dylan out of school when he reaches Middle School. For now, we just have to force him to keep his grades up so no one gives us a hassle!

No it can't be over! Really enjoyed the TR. Glad to know I'm not alone as a dad who loves WDW.

I would suggest the end of August for Summer trips ... Many folks are back in school so the parks are alot less crowded, plus it's value season (and usually Free Dining) so it can help to save boatloads. (plus its when we usually go)

The only downfall is the heat ... but there's enough to do during mid day to stay cool (shows, eating, shopping et al)

Enjoyed your trip report more than any other I've read on the DIS...and I lurk a lot! -You are an excellent writer and photographer, and have a beautiful family. Thanks too for the favorites lists. I really hate to see your report come to a close!
So...when will you start your pre-trip report??? popcorn::

Since we did decide on restaurants, I guess I could start my PTR now...

Nah, it'll probably be closer to when we start booking, so late this year. In
lieu of another report, I promise to start

I know several other dads who love WDW as much as me, but I agree that it is more the exception than the rule. My favorite question to answer is, "don't you ever want to vacation somewhere else?"

My response: "Why?"

:)

Could you please come talk to my DH?! He needs to be brainwashed......

I don't know, with those glasses, he looks pretty brainwashed to me :)

I was always somewhat into Disney (Kristin and I saw Lion King at least 6 times in the theater when we were dating), but never like I was when we got to WDW for the first time. Our first day in the Magic Kingdom, I asked Kristin, "why have we never been here together until now, and why didn't we honeymoon here?" I fell in love with WDW almost instantly. Either it's in you, or it's not. I think it's tough to persuade people in either direction.

I'm so sad the TR is over! The trip was planned so well (as I said before, I still envy Kristin's idea to laminate the intineraries) and the TR really brought it all to life for us readers.
Plus, I think you're my big brother in disguise, what with Iron Maiden and the reference to Randy and Ozzy. He painted an awesome copy of the Tribute album cover on the wall of his HS art room in 1989 and it stayed up for a good 10 years. Then it was unceremoniously painted over by some kids who had no idea what it was...but I digress.
Can't wait for next year's PTR and TR. I've passed this along to the tiny group manning our sad, little PTR, so you guys will for sure be getting some more hits.
Til next year!

Well, I'm going to be watching for that pre-trippie of yours, you can count on it!

My coworkers no longer ask me "Why?"...Now, it's "Why ask why?" :)

My DH loves WDW too...I've done my job well. He's *almost* as addicted as me. My next challenge? Getting him on the DIS boards instead of just listening to me tell him about everything!

A really, really fantastic trip report! Thank you so much for sharing with us. The pic of Dylan's reaction to the second crowning of the Queen is priceless!!!

Just finished reading the report our first evening back home, which was apropos, I guess. Funny to think you've been back for two months, though. :rolleyes1

Not that I should talk. We never finished our first trip report, and our second one took 6 months to finish. We'll see how this one goes...

I am enrolled in Virgin Health Miles through work, a program that allows me to attain a certain number of virgins when I get to heaven that is proportionate to the number of steps I take while here on Earth. Either that, or I can get gift certificates and cash rewards for exercising. I didn't exactly read all of the fine print, so the terms and conditions are a bit sketchy to me.
It was with this one post I knew I would love this TR and I owed Mek a world of gratitude for linking your TR in her's. If you do not mind - I would l ove to give you more advertising and I will link ity on mine as well.
The fact you are willing to make fun of your kids, are a Viking fan and like Disney...well that means we are a backwoods 3rd cousin from Uncle Cletus in relation.;)

LOL - that was probably the first of what would become many "I wonder if the people on the DIS will be offended by this...aw, I'll post it anyway" posts that bascially became the norm for my TR. Glad to see that I overestimated the puritanical nature of the posters here :)

Link away! I'll add your TR to my "list of TRs to read now that I'm not up until 1:00 AM every night posting mine".

Thanks!

Nilla and DisneyDawn. A DIS match made in heaven!!!!!!!!

You are hilarious! I am visiting WDW this November to celebrate my 40th birthday (albeit a couple of months early) with a small gathering of 7 friends and family members. Reading your TR has given me that bit of Disney "fix" to tide me over until our vacation AND I have also learned many new things/hints from your postings. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this. I know it is an enormous commitment to do so, but it is greatly appreciated.

I must tell you I laughed out loud last night when you shared the pics and commentary about how Minnie was trying to eat Emily at Chef Mickey's - hilarious. I also chuckled in learning your plan to drink your way around the world - by splitting it over 2 days, because you are not delusional and know your limits! I have never been to EPCOT during the Flower & Garden show, but this will be my 4th time visiting during the Food & Wine festival and it is no less magical at EPCOT. The gardens are still beautiful, the temeprature is lovely and the extra-festive atmosphere of the free-flowing booze is sublime. In reading your TR I feel fairly confident in saying that you and Kristen would enjoy EPCOT very much during this time of year as well. Give it a try sometime, with or without the kids! Thanks again for your terrific postings and pics. ;)

I was just browsing the trip reports today at work and came across yours... I just read through pretty quick here today (since I have to also pretend im busy working)...but I have to say that you are hilarious. Doesnt hurt that you guys have a beautiful family and looks like you had great plans for the trip :goodvibes I was hooked at "jons pukeful spot" (though not very nice for me to laugh at your misfortune) but i of course I kept thinking "poohs playful spot" playground.

Im glad I came across your report, very funny and entertaining!!

Sly and Shannon,

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I had fun writing it, and it helped to get me through the post-trip depression :)

I laugh about the pukeful spot now, too. Hopefully it was a once-and-done, though!

HI,
I thought of you when Mr. Favre decided to not play this year. Or at least lie about not playing until the sweat box in Mankato is over.;)

I am on page 7. I have read every word which means I still have a long way to go but plan on having time to get it done in the next few days. I have been gone almost 100% of the time since I last posted and wanted to make sure you did not feel like a jilted TR lovah. (Your beautiful wife can jilt ya! I have my own jiltathon and cannot handle any more on my plate thank you. :lmao:)

Anyway - I will post the link tom. on my last page of my current TR. Then will be starting the newest one from our trip 2 weeks ago before I have to write one for October.

Since I might get writers block and or hand cramps - maybe you can write some for me.

How much do ya charge per smart@ss line? :confused3 :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

I know this will make you happy (just as it has made my youngest son very happy) if it is true (as posted on the Chicago Tribune website just now):

Favre reportedly set to confirm return to Vikings

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Yes, #4 is back for another go! Of course, the rest of the team is hurt, but I can't give up hope just yet :sad1:

I'm still planning on reading other TRs as soon as I get over this 2 month hangover from writing mine. I promise!

We've missed you around here. I'll be going "home" in just 17 days and hope to see you around the boards more often.

And we (well at least my youngest son and I) are thrilled that #4 is back.
