Lets See Some Motion Blur

Here's a couple Disney examples:

Kids at Epcot chasing the lights in the conrete. This was a couple of seconds with rear-curtain flash:

About a 4 second handheld exposure in the front cab of the MK monorail with rear-curtain flash:

The next two were taken with my digital P-n-S at The Festival of the Lion King. When the light is too low, turn off the flash and "make art":

And lastly, a non-WDW example. Patrick Carpentier at the Detroit Grand Prix in 2000:

Here is a zoom-during-exposure shot that I took handheld in Times Square many years ago. I was using film, so I couldn't review it and couldn't afford to waste much film hoping to get it right.

Splash Mountain Finale

I thought you meant the final big drop. Has anyone ever tried to take a picture there by focusing on the front of the log so that you got motion blur on the peripheral? If I could pry my hands from the bar and not have to worry about getting the camera wet, I might try it.

Star Trails...

ya know i'm gonna ask...settings please?:lmao: ( i really tried to get that exip thing to work but guess i'm gonna have to reload it or something and my photoshop fiasco has made me swear off softward for a while:lmao: :lmao: ) i tried this the other day without much success( short stubby little smutzes on the photo) although it's much less fun standing outside in 30 degree weather than in FL

How do you get this shot where the car isn't blured but the background is.

Technique called panning. You focus on the moving subject then follow it with your camera keeping the subject in the center of your view finder (or in the case of most PnS cameras, center of the LCD screen). You usually want to use a shutter speed of about 1/60th or so, depending on how fast the subject is moving and how far away from it you are. If the shutter is to fast then the background wont be blurry.

This is one of my favorites because if you don't look at Pluto, you may get woozy, at least for my eyes.

Oooooh...I just got my Gorillapod. For this shot, what did you grasp onto?

There is a metal rail along the sidewalk outside MGM - hooked it onto to that. I like it so far- obviously it is not a full tripod but for something that you can stash in your camera bag or even back pocket I think it works great.
