Two weeks from now will there be a hurricane?

I have to say watching Floridians buying lumber again made me tired last night. I can't imagine what those families are feeling. I hope the season is over already and not just because of my vacation. Hope Jeanne is low tempered, like a Jean I know.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, BUT.....

We currently have three storms churning in hurricane alley right now...Karl, Lisa and Matthew. The weird thing is that most of these storms seem to be named for members of my family (Charley - Dad & Bro, Frances - Uncle, Karl - nephew, Lisa - sister, Matthew - nephew). Is my family trying to tell me something??

Also, everyone who is traveling in the next two months (and I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH), MUST arrive with the expectation that something will happen while they are here. The hurricane season lasts until 11/30 and we have had storms hit around Thanksgiving. Given how this season is shaping up, I have no reason to fell that we won't get hit a few more times before they close the books on this season. I put together some suggestions for visitors who are here during hurricanes (all of this is linked from the DIS home page, www.wdwinfo.com).

thanks Pete - I'll take that as a warning
Im hoping though that MILs house destruction from Frances is all we'll be dealing with
I'll be glad to finally be "home"! I'll hangout in the WL lobby if necessary

Let's see...next on the list of hurricane names for this year are:

Atlantic Names 2004
Nicole
Otto
Paula
Richard
Shary
Tomas
Virginie
Walter

...any more relatives of yours named in there..? If not then maybe we're in the clear for the rest of the season  :p ;)

Try visiting Intellicast.com. This site gives you a list of all active tropical cyclones in both the atlantic and pacific. It also gives projected paths and stats. Right now, both Lisa and Karl are not predicted to make land fall in the US. I have not seen any info on Matthew. When did that one form and where is it?

Hope this helps. Praying for everyong in FL, especially my family in Vero Beach and my friends in P'Cola.

Matthew has come and gone from our weather reports. I think it merged with Lisa.
Anyways, this is the first time in 2 months that there isn't a hurricane headed towards Florida.
We're keeping our fingers crossed!
(There was a no-name storm in December a while back that was pretty bad too. But after the official hurricane season ended.)

Finally good news for Florida!
Now us East coasters have to deal with a cold winter and maybe snow. I don't know what is worse the cold months or hurricane threats? We were considering moving to a warmer climate.

What's worse? Hurricane threats! I grew up in the northeast, lived in S Fl for 7 years, and moved back to the northeast. One hurricane (that's all that hit 1990-97) was worse than the 25 years (pre and post FL) of snow storms.
