Let's Play Games! An August 2016 PTR **TR Link!**

FastPass Day!

No hint today - just some boring, actual PTR stuff ;)

Today was our FastPass Day! Hurray!

Except... I've been doing the evening shift at work this week, and we've been swamped with calls (which is good for business but bad for moral), so last night I got home at 10:30. Got a few things done around the place, got into bed around midnight, didn't fall asleep until past 1 cause that's how I roll. My alarm was set for 6 because I had to try and get a shower in because they cut water pressure for the day (great timing). I ended up snoozing until 6:45 and using the smallest of water trickles to wash up, in case you were wondering

All of this to say, tired. And I feel all your West Coasters. I personally preferred the midnight slot better, too. I think the change was made because they have a crappy a** server and it couldn't hold the demand when everybody got on at the same time, so they made it a time that cuts off a lot of people from going on all at once so it's more drawn out.

Anyway, we got mostly all we wanted. Not saying what, when or where, that wouldn't be part of the game :P

I will say, however, that I am not a fan of the new system. At all.

Some aspects work pretty well. Like, being able to pull up all the times of day for a given FastPass selection is pretty cool. Not being forced to make three FastPasses works well too (well, in Epcot anyway).

The rest, though, is pretty crappy. I was not a fan of having to select everything one at a time, and having to reconfirm my party every time in between.

I also don't like how the system does not recognize what you're already selected, or for what time. If you're gonna give me a conflicting message for picking something from 11:30 to 12:30 because I already have a FastPass from 10:40 to 11:40, then how about you don't give me the 11:30 to 12:30 option?

Oh well. Small grievances.

Overall, it went well. We do have some quick news on the planning front, but I'll be sharing those on Friday.

60 days to go!

I thought the same thing about the FP times - don't show me what co flights.

Then I thought it is good to know what is available if you want to move other things around

Maybe they could color code them or something so easier to tell or separate them so you know "other times available that conflict with current plans" or something

Yeah, that was pointed out to me. I think it's a fair point. Still annoying, but I get the logic.

That would be good. I guess if anything, this is still in early stages of the new system update, so who knows, they might tweak it in the future.

You don't scare me!!!
Well... maybe a little...
Maybe I should.........

Nah. I'll leave it as is

Wait, leave your change request as is, so go ahead with 1900PF, or leave it as is originally was with Boma?

I'm easily confused. Must be the French in me.

Change it to 1900PF. And keep Boma. But take out Coral Reef.
Keep asking me and I'll keep changing them.

Or not.

Hint #7

In regards to Question 15:

I will be counting when we take Ponchos out on water rides (and yes, I have been known to wear it on Splash Mountain)

Don't judge me. I hate wet clothes.

Happy guessing!

Fourteen days to go!

I can't believe we've gotten so close already! It's been a bit of a roller coaster year, too. Initially we were gonna have to wait until Christmas - then, our countdown almost doubled when we cancelled that trip. And now, we're almost there because we decided to brave the crazy heat of August!

We did have a pretty interesting month (hence the lack of updates/hints lately), by taking a quick trip to Michigan.

We had a very important person to meet.

This precious little boy is David Joshua, born on July 5th :) So of course we had to make a quick trip to meet our brand new nephew!

We also got to spend some time with this little princess.

She is already so much bigger than she was in November, it's crazy! She's also a lot more talkative than she was then, and like most kids, says the darnest things.

Now that we've been home a few days though, I figured I needed to do some catching up!

We've got all the little details of our trip pretty much planned and thought out by now, so there's really not much left to do.

We've been doing our usual Disney Movie Countdown, although a little differently - we've been watching a couple of movies every weekend, and we'll watch one every night throughout the last week before leaving.

I usually am taken up by crafty projects around this time, but this year I've decided not to take up making MouseKeeping envelopes. For one thing, I really don't know what I'd make them. For another, we have enough left over from past trips where they were left behind (which, you know, another reason right there).

But I couldn't not do anything still... so I've been working on these instead!

We'll write a thank you message on them, along with the time of the trip and our names, and we plan on handing them out to CMs who help make our trip a little more magical :) (We usually also stop in Guest Services to commend them, but I like giving something a bit personalized as well).

So, that's pretty much what we've been up to while waiting for our departure day to arrive!

And now, for another hint... (because I've gotta be somewhat consistent, right?)

Hint #8!

In regards to Question 6

We will be on property for a total of eight days. One of those days is *planned* to be a no park day. We are only planning to park hop once or twice at the most.

As always, happy guessing ;)

Fourteen days to go!

Two weeks!! That's like.... soon!

Initially we were gonna have to wait until Christmas - then, our countdown almost doubled when we cancelled that trip. And now, we're almost there because we decided to brave the crazy heat of August!

That's my life.... except in the span of about a week!

Cutie!

She's also a lot more talkative than she was then, and like most kids, says the darnest things.

You can't leave that out there like that! Give us an example!

we've been watching a couple of movies every weekend, and we'll watch one every night throughout the last week before leaving.

I don't know where you find the time!

this year I've decided not to take up making MouseKeeping envelopes.

I will.... but they'll be plane with "Mousekeeping" on them. That's it.

We'll write a thank you message on them, along with the time of the trip and our names, and we plan on handing them out to CMs who help make our trip a little more magical :)

You're not the first person I've heard of doing that. And I think it's a really nice gesture.

And now, for another hint... (because I've gotta be somewhat consistent, right?)

Nah... You can shake things up if you want.
It's your PTR after all!

Two weeks!! That's like.... soon!

I know! Technically it's thirteen days til we arrive in Orlando, but since that first night doesn't really count, I'm sticking with fourteen for the time being.

That's my life.... except in the span of about a week!

Crazy!

You can't leave that out there like that! Give us an example!

Well, if you insist :P Let's see...

One of them went a little like this.

(While sitting on the couch, Elsye looks over at the picture frame that has a baby picture of her with her two brothers)
Elsye: That's Boston, Ramsey and baby David!
Me: No honey, that's not baby David, that's you.
Elsye: But baby David's a boy.
Me: He is a boy, but that's not a boy. That's baby you.
Elsye: That's right, I'm not a boy anymore.

(I guess babies are all boys, but you know, she grew out of that)

I don't know where you find the time!

They're pretty short movies ;) But also, I don't sleep much :rotfl:

I will.... but they'll be plane with "Mousekeeping" on them. That's it.

Well, we will probably have envelopes still, cause I find that more obvious than just leaving a few bills laying around. But that's probably the extent of what I'll do as well :P When I say I'm not making envelopes, I mean like...

You're not the first person I've heard of doing that. And I think it's a really nice gesture.

We tried it in October 2013, but ended up not handing out that many. The few we did hand out typically made the CMs seem pretty happy, so I'm hopeful it'll be the same this time around :) And we plan on taking more time to chat with people so maybe that'll help us hand out more.

Nah... You can shake things up if you want.

It's cool, I shook things up by not updating for almost three weeks :P

You take that back!
Vacation starts the second I leave the house!

::yes::

My first foray to Florida (or anywhere, really) as an adult.
I went on a road trip with my best friend.
By the time we got to Florida, he had about a pound worth of change.
Probably something like $8 in change.
Well... who wants to lug that around??

So he dumped it on the dresser in our room and we headed out for the day.
When we got back.... no change!
We thought it had been stolen.

We didn't know about tipping housekeeping.

When I say I'm not making envelopes, I mean like...

Ah. Yeah. That looks like work.
I get enough of that at... well... work.

Interesting.
It's not something I'd do. But I will tell someone if they're doing an extra-good job.

Vacation starts the second I leave the house!

Let me rephrase that

It's really fourteen days until we step foot on property :P

But yes, as far as vacation goes, for me it starts the moment I clock out out of the office Friday night before we leave :thumbsup2

I can imagine that housekeeper's face when coming across all that change, assuming it's the tip, but also like... "Do they hate me?" cause who wants to get tipped in eight dollars worth of change

Ah. Yeah. That looks like work.
I get enough of that at... well... work.

I enjoy it, so to me it's more like a way to pass the time between now and the time I'm leaving :P But yeah, right now I'm not feeling particularly bad over not having to make an extra eight of those

I know! :lmao:

I think you're either gone or about to leave. Happy Vacationing!!

Working on my envelopes as well! It's such a happy thing to do!

So, I went back to look again at her ticker, which only showed half earlier (the top half without the slider/numbers) and now it's all there. I think my cursor issues may be related to just... something. I dunno. I have a VERY busy work week coming up with 30 hours (a lot for me) M- Th so may not be back in time to say bon voyage. :)
