I am fighting something and my dr. is not in today--so I thought until tomorrow I'd ask 58000 of my closest friends what they think--maybe some of you are in medicine, or at least stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Couldn't hurt!
Anyhoo, last week I had some coughing, still have a little. Friday night I was absolutely miserable with a headache--mostly centered directly behind my left eye, which I was tempted to just pluck out. The headache subsided but never went away all weekend.
Yesterday I was bent over to fix part of my Christmas village and I got a huge pain in my left cheek. I still have it to a lesser extent, and it is tender to the touch. Also my jaw on that side (only that side) hurts, and so far it's the best diet aid ever, but I'll be at Chef Mickey's in 8 days and I want to get my money's worth.:p
In summation, the whole left side of my face hurts. So doctors, does this sound like a sinus infection to you?

I vote for sinus infection. Are you going to see the doctor?

Sounds like a sinus infection to me too. I have been know to describe the pain as feeling like someone is standing on my face. When I have had them the pressure did increase when I bent down. Get some antibiotics and you'll be fine for you trip.

Hope you are feeling well very soon.

Yup, sounds like a sinus infection. If you tap on your cheekbone, just under your eye, do you feel a painful pressure? I'm betting you do.

Get to a DR. as soon as you can. The quicker you start the antibiotics, the sooner you'll start feeling better.

We really don't want you to be too sick or exhausted to enjoy your vacation!

Yep, sounds like a sinus infection to me, too. Not to get gross, but do you have a lot of non-clear drainage down the back of your throat or when you blow your nose? That's always the kicker for me. I also tend to run a low-grade fever (99-100) with a sinus infection.

If the doctor gives you an antibiotic, ask for the Z-pack. (I think it's actually called Zithromax). You take 2 pills the first day and one pill each of the next 4 days. I'm a chronic sinus sufferer, and it's the only thing that works for me. I usually take Tylenol Sinus for the headache and something like Sudafed as a decongestant. All three together usually do the trick. If you are flying, you really want to get this cleared up before you get on the plane.

Good luck!! And don't forget, being in the heat and humidity in Florida is the best thing you can give your sinus infection!

is present!

Get on Antibiotics ASAP!

Yep, definitely sounds like a sinus infection.

Another vote for a sinus infection. I had one last year for Christmas. Great present from Santa! :( Definitely ask for the Z-pack. It's expensive but worth it! I had an infection once before a trip to WDW and having the Z was great, it's only a once/day dose. Good luck!

Sounds like a sinus infection (of which I'm a regular receipient;)), but I once bounced between my dr. & dentist & ended up needing a root canal on an upper tooth (the pain was similar).

I know it's a drag, but the sooner you get thee to a dr., the sooner you'll know & feel better!

Best of luck.

Take a good antihistimine/decongenstant or just an antihistimine too! If I were a medical person (but I'm not) I would recommend something like Tavist or Tavist-D. This would be in addition to the antibiotics that the doctor will recommend tomorrow.

And don't forget the painkillers - ask your Dr. how many Advils (or generic ibuprofen) they recommend that you should take.

Speaking from experience, the # of advil recommended on the label is 1-2, unless your physician says something different.

As you well know, sinus pain is not fun.

Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like one to me also. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Sounds like a good antibiotic will get you on your feet again and ready for that trip in no time.

Thanks guys! It sounded like one to my dr. as well and he called in a prescription. It isn't the Z-pack. I am allergic to penecillin so I don't know if I can even take that. It is tetracycline, 3 a day for 10 days, stay out of sun (almost forgot to pack sunblock) and they are pretty darn big pills. But I'll do anything at this point--I love that description that it feels like someone is standing on my face, that is just it! DH just made me laugh about something and it hurts to smile!
Now I'll be all better by WDW time 12/29!

Robin- here's one idea that can ease the pressure and pain. It works for me, anyway.

I get a thick washcloth and get it wet with the hottest water I can stand. Then I fold it and lay it across my face. The gentle heat seems to ease the pressure, and breathing the warm steam is comforting, too.

I hope you'll be feeling better fast!
