Let's plan Together! Jan 2009

I am having a tough time trying to figure a good time to go in Jan!

Does anyone know if the marathon brings alot of crowds?

I was going to go the last week of Jan. but changed my mind because of superbowl. I want to aviod MLK weekend, so that leave the begining of Jan when the marathon is.

2. How can I find out if the hotel we want to stay at accepts AAA? Is there a website, or should I just ask?

AAA travel can do all the booking for you... They book the room-only reservation, then apply the discounts/codes that may be available at a later date. They can also bundle the packages for you when they come out. Past vacations have saved us about 10% booking with AAA.

If you just want to check out the resorts and rates before you call, you can go to the AAA website and select the Advanced Search option under Hotels. You can select Disney World Resorts from the list of hotel chains and it will bring up all the available resorts. You can also book from their website if you want to make a room only reservation. If you want to book a package through AAA, you'll have to call.

We will be going in Jan as well, my dates are between the 17-24 or 24-31. I want to go the least croweded time but iwth the super bowl I don't know which to do. We have always gone in september with the free dining however my husband is unable to go then so we are picking another time. I heard january was another slow time and thats what we are hoping for. Can anyone who has been in jan and sept compare the crowds?
TIA

I've never been in Sept. but I have been in mid to late Jan (not MLK weekend) four times since 2003. There are occasionally times when you come across a relatively long line (like 20-30 minutes). But for the majority of the time the wait is 5-10 minutes or less. We have ridden Buzz Lightyear 14 times in a row with no wait (why? - because my DS wanted to :) ) Sometimes you can ride a ride consecutive times without getting off, because there is no one in line waiting to get on. AM EMH is basically deserted. PM EMH is not crowded either. The only exception that I've experienced was the year Soarin' opened we had to wait in line for an hour. That will always be on our "first ride of the morning" list from now on, regardless of the time of year.

Getting ready to book for January:cool1: Going January 3 through 10th. Little nervous about the crowds due to New Year's falling on a Thursday (extended vacations) and the marathon being the next weekend (Jan. 10 &11).

But still can't wait!!!:cheer2:

Subscribing. I'll be waiting for a code!!! We are going in January for the 1/2 Marathon. Not sure how many days yet...

I don't have reservations yet, but I'm planning on Jan 4-13.
Right now I'm planning on a split stay between POFQ and Contemporary. However, considering my plans have changed about a million times since I started planning they will most likely change again between now and then.
Especially if discounts come out, and where I can apply them is limited.

Just booked Jan 12 - 16 at the Contemporary. Probably just me and DD who will turn 5 during the trip.

:cool1:

We are going January 21st through 29th. We have our flights booked. We are holding a family suite at All Star Music. DS (4) and DD (2) first trip to Disney. Can't wait for them to experience the magic of Disney:0)

We are also holding a suite at ASM for Jan16-25. Waiting for the 09 rates to come out is killing me. Keeping my fingers crossed we will get some kind of code during our stay, but the first 3 days is Holiday rate due to MLK so not expecting anything for those days. Any bit will help.

Come on 09 rates!!:cheer2:

Count us in for January 2009! We'll be staying in Windsor Hills from the 17th through the 25th. We'll be celebrating our 10 year anniversary and DD's 7th birthday while we're there and we're also taking my mom! :grouphug: Can't wait!

Hello!

I am hoping to go to DisneyWorld in January 2009 with my two sisters (all adults). I was wondering if anyone has advice on the best time to buy? I won't have the means to purchase anything before late September unless it is just one component. We plan to stay at one of the value resorts and have the dining plan for about 7 or 8 days. Any advice? I have never planned a trip like this before nor ever been to DisneyWorld. Can't wait!

Sadly unless it is a super good deal I will Never go around MLK holiday it was as crowded as high season for a few days!! I am not kidding. All of the hotels were sold out most of last Jan and early 1st Feb. We saw large groups and also their was about 40%-50% families from from Brazil ( it is their summer time I think) I have been to Disney around every season and it was no different then going at Thanksgiving but with out the cool deco. Lines every where with 2 hour waits for rides every rest. was booked and we were lucky that we already did ARDS!! So be aware of this month!;) Free dine was less crowed then Jan!

We were thinking of going down Jan29-Feb.6. Now thinking of Feb 6-Feb 13. We are a family of 10, booking 3 rooms at Pop. What's the best option crowd wise?:confused3 We will have 3 babies and really want to avoid crowds, but can't go late summer.
All suggestions welcome...................
