One thing I can't stand is when people are vague.
For example, my friends will be going to Florida. Where are you staying? I ask. They don't know, they say. When are you leaving? I ask. I have no idea they say.

It's annoying.
People these days just don't care anymore. Kids just go along with the flow, no questions as to what is going on. They don't ask questions, they just don't care.

Their getting a dog.
What kind? They don't know.
How big? They don't know.
When are they getting it? They don't know, and don't seem to care.

Why do people not care?

Teens these days just don't care. They have their boyfriend/girlfriend and their other friends. Thats all that matters. Plus I believe that they think they have to keep their cool. That's my opinion. xD

But...yeaa...I'm one of those teenage girls who cares about their friends, loves to talk about anything...so...since I love to talk and love my friends, I always ask my friends about vaca, like Disney...what was the best ride and why, what was their fave park and why...I mean...I pay attention...lol

It's just impossible to keep a conversation flowing.
I don't ask people in my class about their vacation cos they usually will sound bored as they talked about it.
I mean, it's pretty sad when you won't even ask your parents when you're leaving for Disney or DR.

There is one saying that kindaa fits this thread.

"Watch your back, because nobody is watching it for you."

That's what teens these days kindaa relate to...lol

Like that..
but more like.
'I'm going to be on tv for something on some channel, but I have no idea when.'

People used to plan for the future and make plans for the rest of their life and now people are spur of the moment let the peices fall as they may kind of plans. Look at the divorce, teen pregnancy, bankruptcy rate today. people just don't care and are living for the now! If you asked most older generations about specific events in their life they could go into great detail about it because they cared to take it in and remember. Now most people cant remember simple things from the week before. Maybe we just live in such a fast paced society our brains don't have time to catch up with the rest of us which is why we are vague!

That doesn't relate to this at all. That means dont trust other people because they wont help you if you need help.

People have always been like that. 1930's Great Depression. They all bought on credit and everything fell through. They didnt plan on things like that. Teen pregnancy because now it is more acceptable for women to have sex out of marriage. Divorce is the same way. Its more accepted to have a divorce. Id much rather have many people getting divorced than having 2 people getting married, having abuse and then the kids live crappy lives because the parents hate each other but have to live with each other. Also ask any older person what they did the week before the important event and they will not know. Because its a simple and meaningless thing. If you ask anyone something that meant alot to them they will remmeber it.

I'm not sure if I understand this post.

I believe people are planning for the future more now than they ever have. So much technology has a played a HUGE part in that area. With the internet, blackberries, and cell phones...along with hand held (electronic) agendas, planning is easier and because the world is getting lazy(er), people will plan more.

As generations progress and technology gets more advanced, adults are planning buisness affairs, teens are planning social affairs, and younger kids are planning for play-times. Of course, not everyone uses planning devices and for a lot of people, the thinking of what to do the next day, is naturally common in their thoughts. It's like an automatic thought process.

Teens may not care at a single moment what they are doing and possibly moments after, but that doesn't mean they are not planning for it. For a lot of people, it's instinct to plan. However, I DO believe a lot more teens are planning. Personal agendas are being made "cooler" and more appealing to teens eyes making it more desired.

You said people can't even remember the "simple things" from past events...usually the most memorable events are the major, more complex ones. ;)

What I think the problem here is, is not laziness or ill of planning, but actually the lack of communication skills. I know people love to talk, but I do know a lot of teens, sometimes, try to avoid long talks. Maybe such ambiguity is caused out of the want not to talk about the event, issue or whatever. Most conversations today are held over the internet or the phone. Verbal talk is becomming less and less as technology advances. At least, this is what I think.

The Great Depression is a bit FAR off-topic here. It has little to do with what is happening today and the circumstances then were no where near the same calibur.

Ha, I like you; you just saved me heck of a lot of typing. I could not agree more.

Circumstances and situation maybe be different but it still is valid. People didn't plan that well with paying for things back then.

5+5=10 is still the same type of problem as 10+10=20. They are both addition problems. Circumstances and situation are the numbers but the point im still trying to get accross is the type of problem it is.

oooooo to much cleverness to early in the morning so i will be plain and simle when people are vague they are annoying if they talk vague to you about something they are doing they make it sound like they dont think its cool so why are you bothering to ask?? or if anyone else is there they may sound vague because they dont want the other person to think they are uncool thats what tends to happen in my school

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you on this. People during the Great Depression tried their BEST to plan for what they needed. When things got so bad...and I mean really bad, people didn't think to themselves, "oh let's go buy some candy". They thought, "We need to save this money and we need to get work to build on this money to stay alive". They were not COMPLETELY dumb. They had families and they wanted to surivive...it wasn't some game to them. When we look back at it now (us with our technology and advanced education) some may think they were "supid" with what they decided, but you have to think of it through their eyes. They really really thought what they were doing was good and it was...it was good for what they knew and for what was available to them. They planned what they could. People are people and most people don't want to die.

I don't believe people didn't plan well financially during The Great Depression. I do believe they realized what was happening and so they did plan as BEST as they could.

The Great Depression can't compare to this conversation simply because it is something totally different. You can throw numbers out there to prove a point, but the point is moot because it makes no sense. The Great Depression is not parallel to the situation here on this thread.

this is my opinion on all of this:
i totally agree that teens are way too vague!! it annoys me sooo much when people are like 'don't know' 'urm not sure'-it's like they don't seem to care about life any more! and when u try and make a conversation with someone and it gets sooo awkward because they don't talk much and if they do all they say are one word per sentence! grrr it drives me crazy!! why can't teens today just take an interest in life?
