As Rosie already mentioned, she and Carol were heading left when we entered the park while Pat and I planned to head right, try to ride SM standby before using our FP+ for a second ride, and trying to do some other rides/attractions before meeting back up with them for lunch. We got inside rather quickly and made our way in the direction of Tomorrowland. We were stopped momentarily by CMs at the entrance to Tomorrowland so they could walk everyone towards the typical destination
Space. I was very happy about that because we were close to the CMs and we would be able to ride Standby like we hoped without much of a wait, in plenty of time before our FP+ window opened.
****Spoiler Alert****
For those of you who think Disney can do no wrong, you might want to skip this next little bit of my update
..I was NOT a happy camper!
After a very short wait, the CMs began the controlled procession through Tomorrowland towards Space Mountain. As we walked we filled in available space and got closer to the CMs to prepare for entry into the ride queue. There were the usual few people who peeled off into the line for Buzz, and even a few who turned left into Stitch!

But it was obvious where most of the crowd that headed into Tomorrowland was going. As we finally arrive at the entrance to SM one of the CMs, who had lead the procession all the way there, turns around and stops everyone to announce
The ride is currently down and we dont have a time estimate when it will be back up. WHAT?

You obviously knew this the whole time you were holding us at the entrance to Tomorrowland, and the whole time you were walking us slowly towards the ride, because nobody stopped you and gave you any type of update about this fact! Why did you not inform everyone of this when you were holding the crowd at the entrance to Tomorrowland, because obviously you already knew??????

To me this is just a crazy way to do things, and extremely disrespectful to your paying guests! We could have opted to head off and try to find Rosie and Carol to spend some of that time together. But NO, you thought it made sense to waste a large group of peoples time for absolutely no good reason!
Okay, RANT OVER!
So with SM out of the picture we headed for the next logical choice, Buzz! When we got done defeating Zurg (one of us more than the other) I quickly ran back over to see if SM had reopened. I didnt have to get very close to know that it hadnt, so I headed back and we used the FP kiosk outside of Buzz to change out our SM FP+ for something else. Since we knew we would be heading to the other side of the park to use our FP+ for BTMRR, we swapped SM for HM so we could do that on the way to BTMRR. Then we took a quick ride on the People Mover. When we saw the lights on inside SM, we knew we had made the right choice in not waiting around in hopes it would re-open soon.
Since we had a little time, we had already planned to go by 7DMT and check it out, with the hopes that we might luck into a soft opening and get to ride it before the official opening date. On the way we spotted a PPP and decided to get a shot with the castle in the background. We asked the PPP if they could do a magic shot picture and they told us we were in luck, so after instructing us what to do, the final product turned out to be
..
After our stop for PP we headed up the right side of the castle towards New Fantasyland. There were CMs guarding the entrance to 7DMT, and while we stood there we heard multiple announcements concerning testing of the ride, which dulled the hope we might luck into a soft opening. While we waited, of course it was a great time to get some pictures. Here is a section of the track near the entrance.
And after a wait, we got a chance to see the mine train on the track.
We saw multiple tests, and the ride stopping just around the corner from the picture above, heard messages where the ride had failed, and even saw one ride with three or four engineers riding in the train during the test. All of this however told us it wasnt yet ready to take on any passengers, so we headed off to enjoy more of the park.
We used our newly acquired FP+ for Haunted Mansion (sorry, but I almost never get a decent ride photo in there) and then headed on to use our FP+ for BTMRR.
From there we caught the train around to StoryBook Circus so we could meet Rosie and Carol for our Lunch FP+ at BoG. As we walked that way we saw the standby wait for Little Mermaid was short and decided we had enough time to sneak that one in before heading to lunch. Rosie and Carol were waiting for us when we arrived and we walked over to check in.
Coming up, our lunch at BoG, and more of our MK park day
..apart and together!
But first, a couple more PP pictures you might enjoy.
Rosie and Carol getting Goofy again.
Not sure what was going on here, but Carol seems to really be enjoying Rosie with her Hot Donaldo?
Hopefully Rosie doesn't mind me sharing some of her PP pictures. I'm guessing she hasn't had a chance to load them to PB yet, and I just thought it would be good to include a couple here while we are covering that part of the trip.
