the time has finally come when my friend can call MS to find out if we can switch our reservation at OKW. We're going November 30-December 5. She can call May 1st to check for our first day, correct? Instead of her calling MS every day, she's going to call on the 1st to see what availability looks like for our time frame, then call back on the 5th to, hopefully, change over to BCV, BWV or VWL. Now, what if, on the 1st, availability doesn't look good...does she call on the 5th and check again, then put us on a wait list? We can be wait listed at more than one resort, right? Considering we're going at a very popular time for DVCers, what do you guys think my chances are of getting a one bedroom at either BCV, BWV or VWL? Thanks!:D

Correct. The 7 month window is from the day of check out. Since the first night's stay is November 30, you'd be "checking out" on December 1. May 1 is the first day you can call for November 30 if you are using non-home resort points.

Instead of her calling MS every day, she's going to call on the 1st to see what availability looks like for our time frame, then call back on the 5th to, hopefully, change over to BCV, BWV or VWL.
Sounds like a good plan!

If availability doesn't look good, my advice is to ask your friend to call each day so as to get on the waitlist as soon as possible for each day.

You can waitlist at more than one resort. If your friend has sufficient points to keep the OKW reservation until something comes through at one of the others, you are in good shape. In that case, you/she could ask MS which of the resorts looks "the best" as far as availability goes. I'd pick that resort (or my most desired resort) and waitlist for the days there individually. I'd waitlist the other resorts for the entire time (less chance of that coming through than waitlisting for each day separately, though). When you get what you want, the OKW reservation can be cancelled.

If your friend does not have enough points to keep the OKW back up (has to cancel an OKW day to book a day at the other resort), you will either have to plan on staying at OKW (and forget about staying at one of the others) or accept that you may have to move between OKW and the other resort (maybe more than once) if all the days don't come through on the waitlist.

I'm assuming that you will need to use the waitlist for at least some of your days. But maybe you will be lucky - you just never know until you call!

Considering we're going at a very popular time for DVCers, what do you guys think my chances are of getting a one bedroom at either BCV, BWV or VWL? Thanks!:D
Unknown! Believe there are already waitlists for your dates at BWV and VWL. Perhaps some of those people are hoping to switch at 7 months, too. Best wishes and good luck. Hope you end up where you want to be!

Well, she called MS this morning. BCV is not available, but availability at BWV looks good, for our dates. She was told to call back on Monday morning to change over the reservation. Keep your fingers crossed for us...either that BCV will open up or BWV still will have a one bedroom! Thanks to all who helped me through this process! :D

Even though I know you will enjoy OKW, I hope everything works out for you at BWV. It's my home resort and the location is just awsome! Wishing you the very best of luck!
