So are you a person that likes to bag your own groceries?

I know it's a pretty silly question but it probably says a lot about someones personality.

I really like bagging my own because I like to keep similar items grouped together to make unpacking easier and I like to fill up the bags so I don't have too many to carry in. Today I got in the shortest line at the store and was not very happy about having someone bag. This person is very nice and completely competent so I didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying I'd do it myself.

No, I never bag my groceries if I can help it. I figure I'm helping to keep someone employed;)

So what does that say about me?

My husband used to bag all the time, now he lets the cashier do. I want him to start doing it again, as I hate how they bag.

I have never bagged my own groceries. I'm afraid I'll do something wrong and get yelled at by the cashier.

As Socrates would say... Bagging my own gives me a better ratio of light bags! Or was that Einstein? I also like the cold items together.

Freud would say, you hate your mothers control issues and are fighting an inner struggle to throw rotten eggs at her by bagging your own. Be honest now, and you will feel better.

If nobody's there to bag, I'll do it, just so I don't have to wait for the cashier to finish ringing everything up and then bag everything. Otherwise, I just let the baggers do it. :)

I am that person where I finally get to the counter, and the bagger walks away.

I have these 2 kids and a heaping cart and I would love some help w/ the bagging. But I inevitably end up bagging my own. And I am a big time stuffer. I will pack 'em in as full as I can so I have to make less trips. :teeth:

Once in a blue moon, when the bagger wasn't able to run from me, I thank him very nicely for bagging for me hoping he remembers me for the next time. :)

I like having my groceries sacked for me. Our grocery store is one where they bag your groceries and than carry them out to you car, too. We also have a full-service meat department. It is a basic neighborhood grocery store. My mom shopped there since I was little. I know no different. Of course, now my DH works there, so I'm a bit partial to their ways!

Greatest thing ever! I like having control over all things in my life, including my grocery bags. :rotfl: I'm also of the mindset that if you want something done right, you should do it yourself. :)

I like to bag my own stuff but won't force the issue if someone is down there doing it. I ALWAYS tell them that I want my bread in paper though. ::yes::

ummmm  That you're a very caring person of course :teeth: .

What it says about me is that I like to be in control but don't like to be assertive about it. I think that boils down to passive aggressive  .

I bag if I have a short amount or go to Shoppers. Otherwise, hey can bag..it is easier with kids to have the cashiers do it.

I'll only bag myself if the bagger is a 15 year old kid who looks like he'd put my bottled water on top of my bread . . .

Either way is fine with me. It's been awhile since I had a bagger who did a bad job, most of them do it well. :)

Edited to add: At most of the stores around here, the cashier bags as they ring it up, so there really isn't a choice anyway.

I prefer to do it myself. If there is a bagger there, I will help do it and they usually thank me for helping.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the person that won't bag their own and there is no bagger. They stand there while the checker is ringing the items and then they watch as the checker bags their stuff. That really gets me. Unless you are disabled, old or physically unable to bag your groceries, there is no excuse for it. Gee, can you tell this bothers me? lol

I usually eat my fill while walking through the store, thus no need to bag

OK, I'll admit it. I like to bag my own groceries, too.:D

I always bag my own groceries...it is just easier then waiting for them to call a bagger. I also like to put certain items in a bag together and usually a bagger with just throw everything in all at once...I hate that.

Deb, do you ever shop at Fareway? That's the store my husband works at. And, I agree with you. I cringe at the thought of the young kids sacking the groceries if they aren't well trained. When I am the manager of the store, oops.. Did I say ME. I meant DH. :) When DH is managing his own store, I will constantly be watching that. That's the last impression the customers are left with is that carryout.

I'm obsessive about bagging my own.

Too many times have I had eggs break, bread get crushed, household cleaners mixed in with food etc... when I don't bag my own. I thought they trained grocery baggers which items could go together and which could not but maybe not...

My BF bags his own too when he goes.
