I'm trying to enjoy this report. I have to ask. Why do you push your daughter to go on rides she doesn't enjoy? I see your wife not going on certain things. Shouldn't you set the example by going on things you don't like yourselves too? I almost cried when I read the Splash Mtn. segment, That's not fun at all. I understand that fear of being pushed onto something you are totally afraid of. Not cool. Sorry, but I just don't understand.
I feel as though I need to post a reply on Terry n Toni's behalf. 1st let me say they are wonderful parents when I met with them at HS Toni never pushed Tailor to do anything she didnt like nor Alec when it came time for TOT. She sat out patiently with them and then with Tailor for Rockn Roller Coaster and at that point she had never even ever rode that herself. I think if you truly read through the post about Splash Mountain she never pushed her to go on a ride she didnt like, she simply asked her to give it a try and maybe you are misinterpreting her just being humerous when she talks about taking the "Walk of shame" Just after that she states Tailor had loved going on Big Thunder Mountain previously but this time around wasnt having it. So she sat out with Tailor again. Now personally myself and I'm sure a lot of other parents out there have bribed their kids, coaxed them into getting on a ride they are "freaked out" by only because you know once they try it they will love it and if they didnt they dont have to go again. I saw this personally by a mom when we were going on TOT and sure enough her son loved the ride.
They never forced her onto a ride she didnt want to ride, I think maybe you read this wrong...
We get there and start walking through the queue and she all of the sudden realizes that she doesn't want to do this... I try and talk her into it and reason with her to just give it another chance... She starts crying and I end up carrying her for most of the way... We get up to where we get into the boat, and she full on freaks out and grabs ahold of a post and won't let go... The CM says he has to send the boat, which had Terry and Alec in it, and they are so wrapped up in their own conversation they don't notice that Tailor and I are not on the boat... Tailor and I do the walk of shame up the stairs and over the boat tunnel thing and down the other stairs and out of the ride... Tailor starts freaking out again thinking she was going to be in trouble for not riding... I had to calm her down and tell her although I wish you would have tried it, we were not going to let it ruin our trip... I didn't gt to ride Splash at all this trip...
I took her to the little play thing right outside Splash and waited for Terry and Alec...
Then this is my second part to point out no forcing to go on a ride existed...
From there we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad... Tailor loved this ride last year and rode it at least 6 times... This year she decided she hated it and I never got to ride it again either... Do you see a pettern forming here at all???
Keep up the GREAT Trip Report Toni & Terry!
