Let's get the Halloween details already!

For everyone who has sailed in September, how was your weather?
As far as temperatures, it has been lovely and warm. If it's hurricane season you're worried about, we've always been lucky but bad weather is possible. It's always been worth the slight risk for us.

At the end of January last year they releases the information about the Halloween festivities on board for the fall. Here we are at the end of February and we have yet to hear about this year's Halloween activities. Arg.

There have been two years of Halloween activity cruises, it was the same stuff both years (as far as I could tell, being onboard the Dream both years). But maybe it's just the dates you want?

What I really dislike (from pictures from this past October) though is the fact that they put all of the jack-o-lanterns in the large port holes on Deck 3. I don't like that they obstruct the view out of those lovely port holes.

Yes, so much yes.

We have yet to participate in the special (frenzied, frenetic, just doesn't seem like much fun) activities, and we have to leave all the candy they leave in the room behind because it's candy my family cannot have, we go because of timing (and my birthday) not because of Halloween....but the ONE THING we cannot avoid is those jack-o-lantern stickers. Stickers! People talk about the gorgeous ships, etc, and then they put window-clings in the portholes. Ugh.

I live in Miami, very used to Hurricane season ;) more so wondering how much it rained. Last year we spent a week at Disney in September and it rained a lot. We just got off the Wonder in February and never again. Too windy and too chilly, we didn't even get to dock at Castaway.

To each their own. There are things I don't enjoy on the ship, i.e. Christmas in November, so I just avoid it and let others enjoy it. There are other cruise lines and other vacations if the things I dislike outweigh the things I enjoy. Anyway I hope we here more details soon but I think I'll stick to checking the DCL site instead of this thread lol.

Our cruise on the Wonder is from Sept 27-Oct 1. Didn't occur to me until I read this thread that there might even be some Halloween stuff on board??

This was our timeframe in 2014 and it was the Halloween on the High Seas theme.
You could definitely search the forum to see the kinds of activities they had on the ships - I know lots of people on the cruises after us were full of questions!

Yes, it's just the dates that I am waiting on. Since I'm on the Sept. 7th cruise, we might be on the first Halloween cruise. Just kind of want to know!

I've seen the porthole stickers and I could live without them, although I doubt that they will bother me. I could see how others would be irritated with them. Who wants to see jack o' lantern stickers when the ocean is outside? Luckily, we have a verandah so I can get my fill of ocean views there!

This is our family's first cruise and just curious about the fish extenders and how that all works? and where do people get their extenders?

You will need to go to the forum on here for cruise meets. Find your cruise and sign up. They are a gift exchange and you can find Fe's on Etsy or make your own.

I booked my cruise for Sept 6th 2015, and was told by the CM that it was the first one of the Halloween season.
I did change my cruise to Sept 19th, this way after I want to do the F&W Fest at Disney

My 7 year old wants to be Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter for Halloween. She is very into the books right now, and I was wondering if anyone thought we'd be frowned upon for sporting a universal studios character on our October 31st western Caribbean sailing?

Not at all! We saw all sorts of non-Disney costumes onboard. I sailed 3 Halloween sailings last year and there was quite the variety of costumes. Plenty of CMs are also Harry Potter fans. I'm quite sure they'd appreciate something different, as well. ;)

I don't think anyone would begrudge a kid for dressing up as their favorite character for Halloween! It is supposed to be a Halloween party, not a "dress like Disney" party. Go for it! :woohoo:

We're not going Disney for our Halloween costumes at all. Probably nobody will know who we are, but I'm going to be Princess Zelda, my DH will be Link and my daughter is going to be Navi the blue fairy. :)

Great, thanks everyone! She will be very excited! My son wants to be Wayne Gretzky, so that doesn't fit the Disney theme either...rebels lol

Hi! We are booked for the Oct 4th Magic sailing this year (our first non-summer Disney cruise) and are excited about the Halloween decorations. Can anyone from past years tell me what type of "activities" they add? Is there still a pirate night (ours is a 5 night)? Just wondering how much room I need for costumes! LOL

I haven't sailed on a Halloween cruise yet, but here is the link to the details that DCL provides: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/holiday-cruises/halloween/?int_cmp=INS-intDCLtoDCL-halloweendream I also know that there is still a pirate night! Even on the shorter 3 and 4 day cruises. There may be a Halloween personal navigator from last year somewhere on the internet if you Google it. That might have more details on the activities you might expect this year!

Your daughter is required to shout, "Hey! Listen!" every 30 seconds or so to annoy your DH and stay in character. ;)

My daughter Hermoine on our OCT '14 Halloween on the High Seas. She would dress as Hermoine every day if she could.

No worries at all and nobody will frown on that. Make sure you take here to Universal before or after, it is incredible.

Honestly, we love Halloween and wish there was more of it on the boat. Other than the Atrium and a few of the events they had there, if you blinked there was no Halloween theming.
