I'm on a mission. The New Year is as good a time as any to start. I'm tired of looking at, dusting off and picking up junk. I want to be more organized. I want to look for something and know where it is. I want that pink wool shoulder padded blazer out of my closet....let's face it...it was ugly when it was in style and that was at least a decade ago.

So if you lose your kids in piles of toys; if you have boxes in the basement that you have no idea what's inside them ; or if you really need a glass of wine but can't find a bottle opener in your 10 kitchen gadget drawers...this post is for you.

Your first challenge (really mine, but I like to have support. Who doesn't?) is to find 50 things (big or little) to give or throw away (or sell) in the next three weeks. Before you get rid of it, try to take a picture (of the pile, not each thing LOL) and post it here.

We can't get organized until we clear some of the junk out of our lives, right? So who's ready to get organized with me?

50? Man you are tough.:lmao:

I already have a huge garage sale wall in the basement and a entire closet of clothes to get rid of (they are washed and hung up and ready to go). We have put off having a garage sale for 2 yrs. I told DH we are having one in the spring and if we don't I am going to throw away or donate.

However I can find 50 additional item to get rid of no problem. I want to tackle my kitchen stuff right now. That is going to be tough. I love my kitchen stuff but some of it has to GO.

SOOOO, I will try it. We want to finish our basement and we need to get rid of stuff. It is just too much.

I'm in, but I might be starting with the clutter on my desk. One of my goals is to develop routines & just get my to-do list piles organized on some type of computer routine. :goodvibes

Also, January is going to be really busy month for me, so I might not really get involved till that's over. But 2011 is my year!

And if I disappear from this thread, someone needs to come hunt me down, drag me back, and make me get it done!!! ROFL

Oh you are good. Do papers count?;)

Gosh yes I need all the help I can get! I am in!

To make this REALLY easy on you, look online for the Lupis Society or similar pick up deals where they come to YOU for your junk :lmao:. You can schedule a pick up right on their website, stick the stuff on your front stoop with a "Lupis" sign and they do everything else :thumbsup2.

I'm not picky! You can count 50 lego pieces if that's what works for you. Please take a picture though if that's what you do.;)

Oh my gosh! Peole responded! Yay! I had a vision of posting and then just cricket noises. That's always a little embarrassing.

So the challenge is on. I can't wait to see the funniest junk. Hopefully more people will join us.:goodvibes

I sooo need help! The make 3 piles trick never works for me though. I end up with piles all over of things that need to be saved and put away and bags to donate. (the garbage is out right away!). I need a new system!

So when you want to start your organizing, where do you begin?? When I want to clean my house I start with making the kitchen sink clean but it usually already is. That is easy then I have no clue what to do next! (I have 2 kids with messy rooms!! one is 3 and the other is 10 yrs old).

Oh and don't forget to get your charitable deduction tax forms for the junk...I mean lovely items.... that you donate.

I'm in and starting tonight. We're off tomorrow and I'm hoping to get something done then too!

We're going to start simple....just get rid of 50 things. Then we will move on to the next challenge. You can skip challenges that you don't need or don't work for you. If you lose steam when it comes to actually taking it to the Goodwill, we will support you and coax/PROD you on. Baby steps. Remember the saying "Slow and steady wins the race?" That doesn't really work for track events, but it's great for this.

Only 50?:rolleyes1

Sounds like a good idea! I needed some motivation! :thumbsup2

I am in, I am in, I am so in on this.

We started the other day. Cleaned out our storage room, cleaned out two closets and finally put up the wire shelving I wanted. Now I have a desk and all the stuff from the closets to go through. I am so ready to take this on.

Throw out a deck of cards and you'd be two ahead of the goal. ;)

Well, I would not go that far.:lmao:

However I did put 5 decks of cards from my desk drawer here up to a drawer where we organize it.

I am cleaning off my desk right now. Fun times.
