Let the Prom Drama CONTINUE . . . . . . . .

Still keeping an eye on it - I may just cave and call the vet. I'll check the website with the drugs I can come up with and then decide. Thanks so much.

If you need more sites to check, try doing what I did. I just googled antibiotic dosage rat and found that site. There might be others that would work better.

:headache: 'm so sorry that you are having so much trauma with your job and will keep my fingers crossed that it all works out. I think you are handling it the best way possible, hang in there

I'm doing my best. Sometimes I'm fine, and at other times I realize that the stress is worse than I realize. I've got two fever blisters right now, and that's something that I seem to develop when I'm under a great deal of stress.

In this mornings paper: Weekend Forecast, Lots of wind and possible snow! Of course, it's Prom! :headache:

Oh, wind will go great with all those prom hairdos. I hope they gave a great time, and the weather doesn't get too bad.

I'm outta here soon, I promised DD lunch and an afternoon at the candle making place.

Candlemaking? Cool! :thumbsup2

We have two more regular season lacrosse games, next Thursday and Saturday. We SHOULD beat these teams rather handily, but as you know, if you're not prepared, the opposite can happen.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I hope everything goes well. Good luck! :thumbsup2

It was always the "piece of cake" games where we got our butts kicked - we came home from more than 1 game hanging our heads in embarrassment. Nothing is for sure when it comes to kids and sports which is why they are so much fun!

Ouch! Relax over the weekend and don't dwell on Monday, you have done everything you can do and your ducks are all lined up. Go sit on the porch and relax. Get a massage or a pedicure.....chill you need it to be in top form

There is a place here where you pick a metal mold and then using a putty knife you break up chunks of colored wax and place them in the mold. When done, they pour clear wax over the whole thing. DD really likes it and it is a relatively inexpensive treat. Personally I like to go to the pottery painting place but it is spendy and DD whips thru projects while I could spend 3 hours on a single plate.

Have a good weekend

That sounds really neat! I think DD and I would like that too. We would also like the pottery place too (nothing like either of those around here - not even in the larger areas).

Update for today's meeting: I got a phone call at 8:17 a.m. I was pretty sure who it was when the phone rang. I checked the caller ID, and I was right. The receptionist was calling to tell me that the Supt. was not going to be in today because he was sick and would need to reschedule for tomorrow. Surprise, surprise... :rolleyes1

The most annoying thing is that DH is one of the individuals asked to serve on his advisory board. The first luncheon is tomorrow. Whether or not DH decided to participate was going to depend on today's meeting. Now, we won't meet until afterwards.

Is Nibbles still making progress?

Maybe he'll re-schedule for tomorrow morning, thinking you can't possibly make it. Won't he be surprised when you *do* show up? If your administrators are on board, you could give them a heads-up abotu the latest development - that you might have to leave on a moment's notice.

If the Super-Meeting is scheduled for later in the day, I have an idea....Your DH can sit there at his lunch-thing and not say a word. If he is asked for his opinion, he could say something along the lines of "I have to recuse myself from giving my thoughts on this particular matter as Mr. [insert appropriate language here] is involved in a personnel matter with my spouse."

Heheheheheheh. *That* would probably get the tongues wagging...and your DH really didn't say anything negative at all :rolleyes1 ...

agnes!

That's pretty good actually! :rotfl2: The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. so it will be after the luncheon.

I'm thinking this is all a ploy, typical weasel behavior! I like Agne's idea!

Is Nibbles still making progress?
Yes and no - her eye is doing better, the lump is not however, this morning I noticed the eye is draining clear fluid so maybe the lump is draining. I called the vet on Friday afternoon and asked if they would give me an oral antibiotic to see what it would do. They wanted me to bring her in on Saturday "could be a cist or a tumor or an absesce (sp?) that needs to be lanced" says the vet tech on the phone. The calculator in my brain is humming along and not liking where it is going. Plus, Saturday was a very busy day and priorities were set. There truly was no extra time to take the rat to the vet, plus I am still reluctant to drop big bucks on a rat. Yeah, I know responsible pet ownership etc. It's a rat! I don't know what else to say;)

I need to look up the antibiotics I have but things went all to heck yesterday. Prom was great, kids looked great etc. etc..... actually DS's girlfriends hair looked amazing! I'll get back to you all with the details.

We lost a member of our High School Booster family on Saturday night.:sad1: One of our Dad's had a suspected heart attack and didn't survive. Mom & Dad had just had dinner with their son who is a Jr. and his GF, the kids then headed to Prom and Mom & Dad were headed home. They stopped at the store and Mom ran in for something, when she came back Dad was having trouble breathing and 911 was called. I don't really know the details from there other than the son was pulled from Prom, I am not sure if the older DD is local or away at school. My phone rang all day yesterday and I didn't get back to the computer until this morning and I left the med's at home.:headache: Say a prayer, God will know who you are praying for.

Keep us posted on the meeting, this is getting good!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. The family must be devastated. It's so sad for it to have happened while the son was at prom. I have said a prayer. I really feel for them.

I'm glad that otherwise prom went well. I know it's sad knowing that it's his senior prom.

You know, I totally understand about Nibbles. I know how it can be. As somebody who has a much larger than normal menagerie, I have to weigh my trips to the vet carefully. DH is pretty patient, but I try not to push the issue. The fact that she is improving is encouraging. I totally understand the preference not to spend a lot of money if you can help it.

You know, I "know" the "best" route is to have the rat seen by the vet, but it would be nice if they would just let you try the antibiotic first. It's not like it's going to hurt her in the long run (millions of children have taken antibiotics that they probably could have done without and managed to survive). If it helps any, DD says that antibiotics is one of those things that you could probably give a little too much and still be okay (just not massive amounts too much). I probably have some in the fridge right now, but Idoubt it would make the trip to Nevada very well. (Well, I just got up and checked, and oddly enough, I don't have any right now - which is very unusual.)

I will keep you updated. I heard later today that he has a stomach virus (so somebody may have gotten to him after all! ;)).

Interesting side note: I was told this morning that he is NOT living in this county (which would cost him his position if it could be proven). He owned a house in the neighboring county. Remember, his MIL signed her house over to him, and he supposedly moved in there the day that he registered to run. Sadly, in our state, there is no previous residency requirement (just have to live there when you register and from then on). I was told that he's living in his house in that county (of course, proving it is another story). I know that his kids are still going to school in that county. Believe me, there are lots of things running through my mind at this point. :rolleyes1

Thank you, I did learn a few more details at last nights booster meeting. Evidently he had not been feeling well and last week made an appt. to see his Dr. the appt. would have been today:sad2: One of our Booster members who is really close said that the coroner confirmed it was a massive heart attach. He was in his late 40's.

I'm glad that otherwise prom went well. I know it's sad knowing that it's his senior prom.
That hit me the hardest. His "last" formal event. My BFF was boohooing much more than I was, I was actually really excited for them, they looked soooo good.

My BFF and I were discussing this. It is like you have to evaluate the level of the pet when thinking about what options you have. I am sure Nibbles and Izzy are both home working on their campaigns to increase there pet value in our house:lmao:

Yeah, I was a little irked, what could it hurt, its a rat for goodness sakes.

Thanks for the tip, tell your DD I appreciate it. We have a former neighbor who is a pharmacist and several years ago when DS had his tonsils out I called my neighbor and asked him how much and how often I could safely give DS pain med's to avoid the ups and downs, I wanted even and steady pain relief for the kid. I asked him as my neighbor not my pharmacist and he recalculated the dosage and the dosing instructions which kept DS much more level in his pain management.

I will keep you updated. I heard later today that he has a stomach virus (so somebody may have gotten to him after all! ;)).
You never know, weasel is making more enemies than friends and somewhere I read that the majority of folks who think they have the stomach flu actually have some sort of food poisoning.

Here is what you need: Large hat and sunglasses, good camera with big zoom lens, unmarked car and a couple of friends to take shifts. You could catch him. This guy seems so arrogant, he believes he is above question. Don't question him, get the evidence and then put him on the spot, best if you catch him in an outright lie!

Is is 4 yet??????

What did DH do about the Advisory Board?

The problem is that his house is at the top of a steep hill. You can't see anything from the road but the top of the roof (no cars, no yard, nothing - which may be why he's willing to risk it).

You would have to be able to photograph him for an extended period of time leaving in the morning and staying overnight (because he could always say he was checking on his house). As far as his children go, I'm guessing he would say that he was just waiting for the school year to end so he didn't have to uproot them in the middle of a school year.

I am mulling over options. I really would like to find a way for him to be put out of office.

DH did go to the advisory board luncheon. It started at 11:30 (although the reminder that was sent out yesterday didn't have a time on it anywhere, so he had to ask the secretary), and I haven't heard back from him yet. Apparently, he's going to keep them there for awhile.

I talked to a teacher this morning who is very frustrated because he keeps pulling the SpEd teacher (who is assigned to her room to assist SpEd students) out to go help him do things. Like this teacher said, shouldn't he be more interested in helping the kids than himself. :confused3

About 3 more hours until meeting time. I'll let you know how it goes...

Good evening, ladies! Sorry to keep you in suspense, but, as I've said before, my home internet connection leaves a great deal to be desired.

The meeting went better than I anticipated. Quite honestly, I was expecting him to be unpleasant. Instead, he tried flattery (sorry, but I'm too old to fall for that gambit :rotfl2: ).

There were several rationales that he tried to use (concerning why he couldn't help decreasing my salary):

For example, the salary for the other job included a supplement for that woman to help the new person transition into her former job next year (the job he tried to put her out of) - to which I replied that he didn't honestly expect me to believe that the salary would be lowered the next year, did he? Alas, he was forced to admit that no, that wouldn't have happened. :rolleyes1 ). Also, I told him that I would be happy to take a supplement to assist the individual who will be taking over my duties (my job may be eliminated but somebody still has to do the work).

He also attempted to explain that he wanted to make sure every possible penny went to the students - whoops, I'm afraid that the additional amount I wanted (to maintain my current salary) actually comes out to less than he had requested to pay the Memphis woman just for mileage to drive to work each day (before he was informed that he couldn't do that).

I also asked him if he honestly thought that a $10,000 decrease in pay could be considered a "lateral" transfer (which is all he can do without my having a right to request a board hearing). He agreed that it would be difficult to support that point with any real authority.

Basically, to make a long story short (I know, too late :rotfl2: ), he was forced to agree with every point I made.:teacher: He finally said that he felt that he should be able to give me what I asked for (which means that I will continue to the library AND retain control of some of my current responsibilities AND my salary will continue to be figured in the way that it always has been - which will make it more than the salary for the Spec. Pops. job at the Vo-Tech that was discussed in the board meeting). That would be my preference overall.

Until I see my contract, I will be cautiously optimistic. :upsidedow

Sounds like it went (cautiously, now...) as well as could be expected. Thanks for the update.

agnes!

Oh Please - does he not know what the cost of the busses alone were for his town meeting:lmao:

Yeah! I agree wait for the contract but WHEW!

Girls my DD and I are playing hookie - actually she is off track and I arranged to take the day off. We are headed to the paint your own pottery place for the afternoon - I'll catch up tomorrow when I am at work and have some free time:rotfl2:

Good morning ladies!

It's FRIDAY:banana:

I was here yesterday but got busy. Then late in the day we had a series of earthquakes:scared: I grew up in California. Earthquakes scare the crap out of me, my knees shake, my hands shake and my adrenalin gets going. Anyway we had a small one last week and then yesterday we had a pretty decent one 4.2.
Now, nothing like some of the big ones I experienced in California but DD was home alone and had never felt one. I called her immediately and she was a little shaky but was ok and told me to stay at work, I told to call at any time if she wanted me to come home, otherwise I would be there in about an hour. Then not 10 minutes after the first one we got another one 4.1. I was shutting down my computer and grabbing my keys when my phone rings, it was DD "MOM, YOU CAN COME HOME NOW!" I was outta here. DS & DH did not feel it, they were at the opposite ends of town from us and we live close to the epicenters. They were also both moving around which can make a difference.

DD and I had a great time at the pottery place. She painted a penguin piggy bank that she named Frederick and I painted a new fruit bowl for the kitchen counter. I painted red, brown and tan stripes on it and finished it off with a black rim which matches my kitchen. We pick up the finished pieces next week after they have been glazed and fired. I personally find the painting to be a cheap form of therapy. There is something very soothing about it and DD is finally old enough to work on a project, take her time and be patient. We were there almost 4 hours. Great afternoon.

BTW: Prom was good although the kids all said the DJ was awful. DS and GF looked great! Her hair was a head full of barrel curls on top of a small subtle french twist with that smooth look on the front and bang area. She looked so good! Then my BFF got ahold of her and did her makeup and topped her off with diamond earrings and CZ bling in a choker, bracelet and ring. We added some glitter gel to her shoulders and chest. We could tell she was floating on a cloud. In walks DS in solid black (of course) with a fuschia tie. I took a ton of pictures, then they headed to her Dad's house for more pictures and then they headed to Olive Garden for dinner and then to Prom and of course as I predicted - It was snowing! Not a lot and little accumulation, but snow none the less, this after 60-80 mph winds all day. I drove GF from my garage to BFF's garage (which is right next door) to keep her hair out of the wind.

Sheila: Any contract yet? Or will it just take time?
What did your DH decide to do about the advisory panel?

Sandy: I know you are super busy, hope you have a great weekend and catch up when you can. How goes the Lacrosse? Doesn't tomorrows game determine state playoff positions? Good luck:cheer2:
How are Marla(?) and Nemo doing?

Agnes: How is DD doing?

Well ladies, that is about it here. I am going to the memorial service for our friend this afternoon. DS is going with me and DH is not sure he can swing it. We are headed to N. California tomorrow for the annual Earth Day party at a friends. I have my huge bowl ready to make my famous chinese chicken salad and all the folding chairs are in the van. The weather is supposed to be beautiful and in the 70's :yay: I found the sunscreen and bug spray, the cooler is loaded with non-alcoholic drinks for the kids and DH. We will finally get to meet GF's Mother and step father because as it turns out we share the host of the Earthday party as a friend in common. GF's Mother lives in that neck of the woods, we are about an hour away.

Have a great weekend

Thanks, Melissa, for the well wishes. :goodvibes

Work continues to be nuts - I am hoping that next week will be better.

Fishies are fine. We added two blue tangs on Sunday (think Dorie fish from Finding Nemo) and they have been the most interesting thus far. But I think if we add an anemone for the clownfish, they'll be happier.

Kids are fine. DS has been stressed; he's had the most homework over the past three days than he's had in a month (or maybe he hasn't DONE his homework like he should have been doing over that period of time!! ;) ). Both kids are working on finding summer jobs, so that's another thing to worry about . . .

Glad to hear that prom went well. It sounds like everyone looked very nice. I smiled when you talked about driving DS's girlfriend next door to keep her hair out of the wind. You are RESOURCEFUL!!!!

Yes, the lacrosse game tomorrow pretty much decides if they make it to playoffs. Fingers crossed that it's a victory!!

Found out my MIL and SIL are coming out for DS's graduation. Looking forward to having them here. Both are nice people, in small doses. :) They found some really good rates on Frontier, so will be flying out the day before and back the day after. All in all, a decent amount of time to be here and no one gets sick of each other.

I hope everyone is well and has a great weekend!!!!!

DS was cramming yesterday to get his Sr. Project paper finished - at this point in the game we should be thankful they have not developed full blown cases of Senioritis! I'm hoping the weather stays cold until June 4th! :lmao: last day of school.
Will DD be coming home or staying near school for the summer?

Check - all appendages crossed:cheer2: :cheer2:

Oh, true that - the family are like fish theory!
I was speaking with my BIL last night, he and his wife will be flying up from San Diego (they just moved there from New Hampshire) and are coming in on Fri, graduation is Sat they leave Sun. My Brother and his wife are doing the same thing, both couples are staying at hotels. This works for me.

So, BIL asked how long Dad was staying, I said 2 weeks.......there was dead silence.......then he says "2 weeks???" "OMG, what are you going to do for 2 weeks?" then he says "Oh dear, you know they will find something to clean, have you thought of taking a little trip?" at which point I was :lmao: So I told him about the road trip and he wants to know if we are taking at least 2 cars.:rotfl2: My FIL's reputation is alive and well - God help me:rolleyes:

What are you doing for Graduation? Do you have a big shing-ding or a small gathering?

Something small - like a nice dinner out. We are definitely not into big flashy parties. DD did a joint barbecue with 4 other girls, but I don't think guys are that organized! At least DS hasn't mentioned anything of the sort as of yet - leave it to him to spring it on me at the last minute!!
