Hey Girls:

Sandy: Hummmm how about them Rockies:cool1: My Ds was filling me in this morning over breakfast.

Just got back from the Ortho - Knee......................All those good thoughts and prayers worked! Thanks Girls:cool1:
This is the Ortho’s quote “Well, I have never seen anything like this before”
He has no torn ligaments, no major damage – what he does have is a huge contusion – he said it is one of the biggest knee contusions he has seen that did not involve other major damage.

He took a really really big needle and pulled some fluid/blood out of it – took out about ½ shot glass full. Said there was a bunch more but it is too thick and that he needs to heat/ice it and massage it to help his body absorb it. He also is plugging him into 4-6 weeks of P/T 3 times a week to help loosen up the knee. Told him to get on a stationary bike and get it moving.

He is out for this week and we will just have to wait and see where he is at for play for next week. The Dr. was going to call Coach and work out a plan. If nothing else, he should be back for Sr. Night at the end of October with no issues.

Thats it - I gotta run...............Hope all is well in your necks of the world
Glad to hear that it doesn't require surgery!! :yay:

Yay Rockies!!!!!!!!! I was so nervous last night and afraid that I would "jinx" them if I watched, so DH watched the game while I watched Dancing With The Stars in another room. I would go in periodically for updates, never staying for long. Went in and saw that wonderful bottom of the 13th inning. We were down by 2 runs and I was pretty sure we weren't going to pull this one out - fortunately I was wrong.

Well, tonight is what we call S.W.A.G. It's a high school tradition here. The letters stand for "Senior Women are Great". They kidnap the senior boys around 3:00 or 4:00 this morning, take them to one of the girls' houses (they usually do this in groups of 10), put themed costumes on them, make them breakfast, and then escort them to school. It's one of our Homecoming traditions. So it will be interesting to hear what DS has to say about all this, as well as seeing him in costume!!

Must get back to work too. Bye!!!

Well, I'm glad it's nothing long term, but it sounds bad enough! I'm glad he'll make Senior night but sorry that he's got to deal with all the P/T in the meantime.

You are too funny:lmao:
I know the feeling - when football is over ask me the thing that I was afraid to voice all season...

How fun! This is the kind of thing that our school lacks.....being only 6/7 years old there are not many "traditions"
How do they kidnap?
I can't wait to hear what his costume was;)

BTW, I told you that Tigger was having to take antibiotics. He was still sneezing when he finished the first bottle of antibiotics, so I started him on amoxicillin (what my DD always called the bubble gum medicine).

Now when I let him out of his crate every morning, I go get the bottle out of the fridge. When he sees it, he runs and jumps on the couch (which is where I sit to give him his medicine) and waits for me. I fill up the dropper, and he opens his mouth for it. When it's empty, he licks everything he can get off the sides of the syringe. I've never had an animal take his/her medicine this well. I think I'm in love! :cat:

Horseshowmom:
Everything ok in your world?
How is Dh's hearing?
Is DD doing okay?

Just checking.............Sandy and I are busy trying not to jinx various professional and amatuer sports:lmao:

They "kidnap" by calling us parents and letting us know who's coming and when. Often the boys spend the night together so the girls don't have to go to 10 separate homes to collect them. So we leave the front door unlocked and they "sneak" in and go up to DS's bedroom and wake him up, have him collect the bare essentials, backpack for school, etc., and then off they go.

The costumes vary - when DD was a senior they did a "Men in Black" theme. The girls were the agents (like Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Rip Torn). They wore white shirts, skinny black ties, black suits and sunglasses. They dressed the boys as aliens, complete with yellow tights, yellow shirts with some sort of design the girls made, yellow shorts, antennae on their heads, and yellow makeup. Oh, and they colored the boys' hair green. They looked great.

DS is in a little bit of a quandry because he's being fought over by 3 groups of girls who all want to "swag" him. Don't know who's going to win out as of yet.

The nice part is that they swag EVERY senior boy - no one gets left out. If you don't want to get swagged, you can opt out by going to the school's activities director.

I'll be sure to get some pictures, although I'm not so sure DS will be too anxious for me to share - especially if he's wearing tights!!! :lmao:

Shhh!!!! If you TALK about it, that's a bad thing?!?! Don't you understand "jinxing" at all? :rotfl:

That is quite the cat!!! Glad he's getting better. What a personality. Tundra loves peanut butter, so we hide pills in that. She'll lick her nose off trying to get it all.

Walking out door - real quick - had to respond

That is some cat.....suck up comes to mind....giving our cats and kids for that matter any type of meds usually involves a large towel, 2 people and leather gloves (the kind you use to handle hawks):lmao:

Tigger missed the Aloof class at Kitty training school! Actually, he is so grateful that you take care of him that he is willing to swill down the "pink stuff" either that or he just has a sweet tooth!

Glad he is getting better:goodvibes

Good Morning!

Well???????????????? What was this years costume
Were there tights involved?
Pictures!!!!!

The SWAG thing sounds like a great deal of fun - your poor DS:rolleyes1 , 3 groups who want him:rotfl2: I think your DS and my DS would get along really well!

So, DS's friends are trying to hide the Sr. Page (yearbook) information from Me. I asked DS yesterday if it really was that big of a deal (if they really don't want it I won't do it) and he says "No, I have no issue, they just know what pictures you have!" Yep, I have some good ones taken over the years:laughing: There are moo-moo's and wigs to mention just a few accessories and those are not the ones from our Halloween parties!

Yesterday DS helped me take the remaining scarecrow supplies into DD's classroom so we could finish the project. DS goes walking in the door and my DD says "Hi Brother" several of the boys in her class said "He's so tall" or "He's so big" they were in awe, it was so funny:lmao: . My DS turns and addresses the boys "You just remember how big I am when you are in high school with my Sister." He was using his very serious life guard tone and face - they were quivering!

The scarecrow came out great! They are all so proud, he goes on display today and will be auctioned off at the Harvest Festival on Saturday!

I received some details on DD's new teacher from the VP yesteday. Class change is Monday. New teacher is a "veteran" teacher from California with 10+ years experience there and then has been teaching here for the past 3 years. She was able to come to our school and teach on a better track. All sounds good, we will just have to wait and see, sounds like the gamble may pay off. My DD is excited, so that is a big plus!

Well, I must get back to work - you all have a great day!

I have no pictures. Heck, I don't even know what he is dressed like as of yet. DS spent the night at a friend's house with another boy so the girls only had to go to one house to pick up all 3 of them. I texted him at about 6:30 a.m. this morning, asking "So what are you dressed as?". He texted back, "I don't even know, but it's scary looking." So of course I demanded that he take photos (sent a disposable camera with him; he'd better not lose it!!) Will let you know as soon as I do!!! I do think our sons would get along well.

The new teacher sounds very promising. I'm happy about the amount of experience that she has. It's a very good thing that your DD is so excited. I think what your DS said to the boys in your DD's class was great!!

You HAVE to do that senior page in the yearbook - some of these kids may talk a good game about not wanting you to, but years from now (probably even sooner), they'll be really glad that you did. It will get a lot of attention from their friends at school, that's for sure!!

Talked to DD yesterday afternoon - after being stressed out for much of the first semester, she is going to quit her job as the hostess at the restaurant. The job itself was not stressful at all, but with her class schedule and school workload, it was just too much. She gives notice today. I think she'll be much happier for it.

Well, will let you know what's going on as soon as I hear it. Could be a good story.

My MIL and sister in law are coming in tomorrow afternoon and staying until Monday morning. Should be a nice visit. They get to see DS play lacrosse, see him all gussied up for homecoming, and we're going to Boulder to show then where DD lives and around the CU campus.

Have a great day all!! :woohoo:

The SWAG thing sounds neat! I'm glad they make sure everybody is included. The pictures should be great for the school annual!

May I tell you a little story about DD. As we've discussed before, she's in pharmacy school with a 4.0 GPA (sounds pretty intelligent, huh? :rolleyes1 ). DD bought student season tickets to the football games. She sold them to other students who were going to the games (she doesn't go) BUT saved the one for the Homecoming game (decided she'd go this year).

Would you believe she saved the wrong one? :sad2: :rotfl2:

She saved a ticket for a game in November. Homecoming is THIS weekend. Now I know they vote for Homecoming Queen and Maids, etc. You'd think she would have noticed the stuff going on leading up to Homecoming, now wouldn't you?

She wound up having to buy a ticket at a much higher price than she sold hers for!

Sounds exactly like something one of my children would do!! :lmao:

It sounds like things may finally start looking up now. Keep us posted!

Full time student and PT job can be quite a juggle. Sounds like she made the right decision, those grades are the most important

:rolleyes1 :lmao: And she admits this! My DS is always amazed at the silly stuff his Dad does that he doesn't even realize is silly or that he willngly admits too like it is something that everyone does!:rotfl2: I hate to break it to you, but I think she might be one of "those" I am married to a "those". "Those" types are very smart. Mine is an engineer who can fix or build anything. Yet he loses the kids, and more keys and wallets than I want to think about. He drives right by our driveway (yep, I have been in the car when he has done it) has worn different shoes to work- same color, different style, could not figure out why he was not hearing my calls on his cell phone (duh, check the volume!) Has bought tickets to the wrong movie, showed up at the company picnic on the wrong day and the list goes on and on...................Common sense is not one of his character traits:rolleyes1

Here is one of the better "those" story:
I had DD in the middle of the night at the local hospital. DH drove home at something like 4 in the morning. One of my Dept. Managers called the house at 7 to ask me something. DH answers the phone (phone woke him up), she asks for me and he says "hold on" (she tells me later she can hear him wandering around calling my name) he comes back onto the line and says "I can't find her, can she call you back" She asks him if DS is there, He says "DS isn't here either, I wonder where they went? I'll have her call when she gets home"
The Manager (personal friend) says to DH "Ummm. did you have a baby last night?" DH says, "I don't know" my friend says "Is she at the hospital?" DH:idea: "oh yeah we did have the baby!", she asks him what we had and that about did him in,:rolleyes1 then he says "where is DS?" (He was staying with a friend) she reassured him all was well, told him to go back to bed and wrote all the details down to put into DD's baby book, then called me and we have laughed over it ever since.

Your DD is very busy, very focused and possibly a blond;) :lmao: ;)

Okay, I have the full S.W.A.G. "scoop" now.

DS's group did the movie "The Corpse Bride" (Tim Burton) as their theme. They dressed the guys as the "brides". :rotfl:

DS came home with PINK TIGHTS, white shorts, a white tank top with pink corsetting, and a black lace garter on his leg. He said that he had a veil and white face makeup on earlier with black "stitch" marks - sorta like Bride of Frankenstein, I think - heck, I've never even seen this movie!

He said that the girls dressed as the grooms, in black suits and ties.

Of course, I snapped a few shots. He did take some pictures on his disposable camera, but it is at someone else's house. I could really kill this kid, sometimes . . . Anyhow, we'll eventually see him in full regalia and I'll try and convince DS to let me post one.

DS is taking a shower now. The first thing he said was that the tights were driving him crazy and making the hair on his legs itch. Welcome to the club, son. The second thing he said was that he was FREEZING as he walked around school today. Who wouldn't be in that getup?!?!!

He is off to try and do some homework and get ready for an early night to bed as he got NO SLEEP at all last night. Kids!!!!

Thanks for the kind words about DD leaving her job and about my inlaws coming to visit.

Melissa, your stories about your DH crack me up. He truly is one of "those", and Horseshowmom, you just may have one of "those" as a daughter!!!

This just in . . . Rockies win!!!!

Rockies - 4
Phillies - 2
