6:50 a.m.

My DD still laughs when she sees a furniture ad, because she says buying the furniture was just the start! :lmao:

I'm in the waiting room now (trying to work from my laptop and cell phone). DH's procedure had to be done over a 3 day session. It's an outpatient procedure, so we have to go back and forth each day (about 75 minute trip). So far, so good, but they said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to know for sure.

Y'all have a great day!
Best wishes to your DH and to you. I hope that everything turns out okay!!! :goodvibes

Yes, buying the furniture is the FIRST step. :lmao:

Hey girls:

I am slammed trying to make up for all the time I have missed this week, so I am making this short.

Thank you both for the well wishes for my DS:hug: We won't know the results of the MRI until Tuesday morning.

Horseshowmom:
Hope all goes well with DH and so glad to hear he was a candidate for the procedure.

Sandy:
Happy rug shopping - sound like it looks great
By the way I was discussing your DS at dinner last night with the "who was he taking to the dance" story and my DS's response: "That's my boy, right there" we all laughed!

Kids.......................
DS and all his friends have decided to vote cutest couple for DS's best friend - reasoning: "Whoever wins always breaks up" "so we are voting for them to save **** "(DS's best friend) the guys all hate his GF who has been part of the "cirlce" since 2nd grade. I told my friend (the Mom of the best friend) and she asked for a ballot:lmao:

You all have a great day.............

So far, so good. If it continues as it has thus far, he's going to be very happy. In fact, he said he can hear better now than he has for years, and even if this is the best it gets, he'll be happy.

That is GREAT news!!! I'm very happy to hear that. :goodvibes

Didn't find a rug last night - saw several contenders, but then went home and decided we were looking at ones that were too big. So we'll probably hit the store again this weekend.

Dinner out with friends tonight, 2 lacrosse games tomorrow, and home maintenance projects this weekend. Nebraska game is on the radio, so we'll be listening and washing windows at the same time!!

Have a good weekend, all. Melissa, please keep us updated about your DS's knee.

Awww, we need a rug in our den sooo bad, but I just don't ever seem to find what I want. It has to be tough enough to stand up to dogs, cats, and boots that are tromped in and out from the barn (yes, I tell them to leave them in the laundry room, but does anybody ever listen to me? :sad2: ).

Sounds like you'll be busy! I'm sure we'll go out to eat tonight. I'm not sure, but I think DD said BF has to go to a meeting in Jackson this weekend (Friday evening and Saturday) for new Ag teachers and won't be back until tomorrow evening. I guess that probably means that we'll have to feed her tonight. :guilty: :rotfl:

Fortunately, we don't have to deal with muddy boots, but a LOT of dog dander. Those Norwegian Elkhounds shed like no other. I swear that the next dog I own will be of the non-shedding variety.

Seems to me it's been a while since you've seen your DD (I could be wrong about this), so I'm glad that you're going out to dinner tonight. Have a good time!!

Oh, forgot to tell you, the bear came back last night around 10:30 p.m. We were still up watching the Rockies/Dodgers (Go Rockies!!!). Unfortunately for him, there were only a few newpapers in the trash bin, so it wasn't a good night for foraging. Tundra was already in the garage and NOT very happy about the bear invading her territory.

I'm here, I'm here..................I am soooo far behind...............

Ever have one of those weeks? I know we all have but I really didn't have time for one of those weeks this week! :rolleyes1 This morning on top of everthing else DD awoke with a 101 fever and sore throat. She was not feeling so good last night and we knew it was coming, so DH is home with her and headed to the Dr. at 11:45 (strep is going around) - one of those weeks I am very thankful that we have really good health insurance!

It is supposed to snow 3-5 inches in Tahoe and we have the Tahoe game at Tahoe tomorrow - from flip flops to boots in less than a week!

Yep, you guys and your families come up in conversation a lot. I think it is fun and find the insight you both offer to be very valuable. I appreciate knowing I can put something out to you guys and get honest answers. I think this is a unique relationship that I really enjoy. I do hope that some day we can all meet.

Horseshowmom:
So glad to hear that DH can hear better (he may regret admitting his hearing has improved) Have fun at dinner with your DD and I know what you mean about trying to keep things clean. I keep threatening to send DD to live with DS in college and DH can move to the garage if they don't pick up their stuff!
How is Tigger? My little stray is making nice with my cats thru the screen door but still won't come near me. I am trying to come up with a plan to give him a warm place to sleep thru the winter and I keep filling the food dish on the back deck. DH has quit glaring at me and now just rolls his eyes.

Sandy:
Of course Tundra has an abundant amount of hair, she is an abundant amount of dog;) Are there dogs that don't shed? Do they have a cousin that comes in a cat variety? (not the hairless ones, they are creepy, who wants a cat that feels like the fabric on a couch:scared: )
There was an article in the paper yesterday about the bear problem here and that some agency is going to begin providing bear proof garbage cans. That is scary, they can do so much damage and yet are so beautiful and seem so cute!
Sounds like you have a busy weekend - good luck on the LaCrosse & Nebraska game.

The big UNR vs. UNLV rivalry game is this weekend and in this small town with us currently in control of the Fremont Cannon (the most costly trophy in all of college football, currently painted Blue) the atmosphere is buzzing. The Vegas fans are flooding in and everywhere you look you either see UNR Blue or UNLV Red!

Thanks for all the concern, prayers and well wishes for DS's knee. We are in a holding pattern until we meet with the Dr. on Tuesday morning. The MRI was on Wednesday, the results take 3 days and between his surgery/office schedule his nurse got us in at the earliest time slot, well almost, the first was at 8 am and we actually got 8:30;) DS is cranky (very out of character) and just pissy, his knee hurts, he is not playing etc......

Okay, must go back to work - you ladies have a wonderful weekend - be safe and have fun

Sorry that DD is sick. I hope she gets better soon. Good luck with the football game tomorrow. Dress warmly!!!!

Have a good weekend too. I hope the news is good about DS's knee - sorry that he's grouchy - having a teenage son, I can relate.

I too enjoy bouncing ideas off you guys - it's very refreshing to hear your perspective on things. :goodvibes

I understand completely. It's kind of like the next show horse we buy will NOT be predominently white again (well, we're actually NEVER going to buy another show horse :rotfl2: , but IF we were)!

Seems to me it's been a while since you've seen your DD (I could be wrong about this), so I'm glad that you're going out to dinner tonight. Have a good time!!

It's been two weeks, so we're ready for her to come home. She's had a rough, rough week - 3 major tests and a group presentation this morning.

Oh, forgot to tell you, the bear came back last night around 10:30 p.m. We were still up watching the Rockies/Dodgers (Go Rockies!!!). Unfortunately for him, there were only a few newpapers in the trash bin, so it wasn't a good night for foraging. I told DH all about your bear visits. He was impressed! ;) We've got coyotes, but they can't compete with bears. :scared:

This year, we're getting a lot of mileage out of DH's insurance!:rotfl:

Ahhh, snow! How neat! We're lucky to get snow even once a year. We're more likely to get ice (which is NOT fun)!:sad2:

I think we're all pretty similar and pretty different (how's that for being vague?)! :lmao:

How is Tigger? My little stray is making nice with my cats thru the screen door but still won't come near me. I am trying to come up with a plan to give him a warm place to sleep thru the winter and I keep filling the food dish on the back deck. DH has quit glaring at me and now just rolls his eyes.

Tigger seems to be doing better. I had to put him on another round of antibiotics, because he was sneezing some. As soon as his back completely heals (very close now), it will be time for his neutering.

He's such a doll and was aptly named. He BOUNCES all over the place. Last night, DD's cat (who is in heavy mourning since she's been gone two weeks) was dragging himself across the living room (I wouldn't call it a walk, he was too immersed in self pity ;) ), and Tigger zoomed out from behind the couch and jumped on top of his back (all 4 feet hanging). Stormy just sighed and looked at him... :rotfl2:

Sandy:

I don't think poodles shed, but I've never come across a poodle looking cat...:scratchin

I think we're all pretty similar and pretty different (how's that for being vague?)! :lmao:
Sounds like a comment that should have come from Sandy ;) :lmao: Your response should have included some sort of data, an example and a footnote to back it up!:lmao: Mine would have included some sort of statistic!

I don't think poodles shed, but I've never come across a poodle looking cat...
there was this one time when my (former) big black kitty Barney had to have part of his tail shaved, we laughed and referred to it as a poodle tail - he was mortified and would sit on or hide his tail until the fir grew back - who ever says animals don't have feelings has never had feelings for an animal.
Poor Stormy......Our Charlie (former kitty) used to mope and cry and pace the house when DS would be at a friends overnight, the summers when DS would go to camp or on vacation with friends were miserable to Charlie and us who had to deal with him.

I understand completely. It's kind of like the next show horse we buy will NOT be predominently white again (well, we're actually NEVER going to buy another show horse , but IF we were)!
That is what I said when I got rid of the last car that was white! Horse, car...................:rotfl2:

Horseshowmom:
I thought you would find this amusing. DS and several of the boys like to tape their cleats/ankles for games. I have spent a small fortune on medical tape the past few years. The boys just discovered the colored tape that is used for horses for shows......DS and his buddies bought out the 2 local feed stores of all the teal and black that they had. Much cheaper than the medical tape, just not sure if DS needed 20 rolls! Yes, 20 which he so kindly put onto my credit card and then informed me!

Oh yeah, we too have the coyotes.............saw one just the other day at the entrance to our sub division - they scare me. My fat cat Simon would be a Thanksgiving celebration to the coyote community.

Back to work girls - I have a couple of emails from my local girfriends I need to go respond to:laughing: :rotfl:

I've seen dogs who were shaved for the summer who really were embarrassed. It was obvious.

Yes, yes, YES! Every morning (after DH gets up), he lets Stormy into our room, and he gets to sleep with me for about a hour. By sleep, I mean that he cuddles up against my chest, puts his head on the pillow, and his arm up on my neck. DH thinks he's hilarious!

Yesterday afternoon, I was trying to talk to a friend on the phone, and I finally gave up. He was just like a toddler who wanted to be picked up. He kept climbing up into my lap, and when I'd try to put him down, he would try to get both arms around my neck and try to cling to me. :sad2:

It's called vet wrap. You can use it for lots of stuff. I don't think we could have functioned without it. It comes in ALL kinds of colors and designs. We used it on us all the time! ;)

They can order it from www.jeffersequine.com (no shipping charge - at least there didn't used to be, but I haven't ordered lately). Usually, the more rolls you buy, the cheaper the price. You can also try Country Supply (you'll have to google it, I don't remember the web address).

Those were two of the top discount horse supply sites that I used. It sounds like they may have plenty, but if they should need more, you can at least compare prices in the future! ;)

I know, Horseshowmom, it shocks me that Melissa would even THINK about associating with anyone but us!! :confused3 We do have to meet sometime.

We have a pack of about 5 or 6 that were causing a lot of worry around here about 5 or 6 months ago. I can deal with one at a time, but 5 or 6 together can take down ANY dog!!!!

There are certain neighborhoods where you just don't let your cats outside because of the coyotes and foxes. :scared1:

Stormy sounds like one of my children when they REALLY want something!! :lmao:
Or my DH when he WANTS something:lmao:

Poor Stormy, how sad................He does sound really cute, I love cuddly cats  even better than sleeping babies:lmao:

:rotfl2: Ahhh, thanks girls! They may not clean my house but they do come thru with the occassional martini!

Sunday, my friend (referenced above)(DS's best friends Mom) is having me over for Lemon Drop Martinis and her DH's famous ribs. You see, they are having a B-day party for her father in law in a week, her DH loves, loves, loves my Chinese Chicken Salad and her son goes gaga over my macaroni salad. Her DH asked me if I would be so kind as to bring my salads to the party.............I go gaga over her DH's ribs, so I struck a bargain.....salads for his Dad's B-day in exchange for ribs. The negotiations got tense, threats of a hostage situation was in the air but alas.....I'm getting ribs this weekend and he is getting his salads next weekend:rotfl2: My friend and I just love to have an excuse to have a martini day.

Horseshowmom: Thanks for the links on the tape - now if only it could make our running back run like a horse in the wind we would be all set!

DH called, on his way home from the Dr. with DD, she has Strep  looks like the Tahoe game may not be on our agenda tomorrow afterall :sad2: or I may go by myself.

The ribs sound wonderful. Now I'm hungry!!

I'm so sorry about your DD. Poor baby! Well, look on the bright side, at least she had the weekend to rest up!! Hang in there!!

Good Morning, ladies. Happy Monday!!

Busy few days for me - the U.S. Supreme Court is back in session and we get lots of material from them that we have to review over the next two days.

Weekend was fun. Had a great time Friday night with a couple that we'd never socialized with before. They're clients of DH, but got to be good friends. Dinner was wonderful (this place serves fabulous duck) and we went to another place for dessert and coffee. Split a cheesecake slice with chocolate and caramel - heaven!!

DS's team went 1-1 with his lacrosse games Saturday. He played well, but ended up not feeling well after the games (think it was dehydration), so he went home and became couch material for the rest of the night. Thankfully he felt better Sunday.

We went out to dinner with old friends Saturday night; the ones that had kinda argued with each other throughout the previous dinner. Thankfully this wasn't a repeat performance.

Nebraska easily won Saturday, that was WAY more relaxing than previous weekends. DD was at the Colorado-Oklahoma game and was part of the throng that stormed the field when CU beat the #3 Sooners by a last minute field goal!!!! She was very excited.

Melissa - saw that Nevada beat UNLV by a last play touchdown. That's great. Congrats!!

Found a beautiful rug on Sunday for the family room. It is Indian (the country, not made by Native Americans) and is hand-knotted. We love the colors. Now we need to get a chair, and two lamps, and who knows what else to finish the room? Once you get started, it's hard to stop!!

Watched the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks on television yesterday afternoon. Go Rockies - beat the Padres today in the play-in game!! The winner of today's game is the Wild Card winner in the National League.

Horseshowmom and Melissa, I hope that you two had great weekends and that all is well with you. Check in when you can and I'll do the same - the U.S. memos are starting to trickle in, so it's going to be a busy day!!

Pam - we continue to think of you. I hope that you're doing well and that your extended family isn't placing too much stress on you. Drop in anytime.

Good Morning Girls:

Sandy:
Sounds like you had a busy weekend and are headed to a busy week. Hang in there. How exciting for your DD to be at that game! I saw bits of it when I was looking around for the UNR scores and then saw the fans pouring onto the field on the news that night.
I also saw the Nebraska scores and knew all was right in your world! Hope your DS is recooperating. They do dehydrate so easily, I think the altitude and the dryness aggravates it. My Ds also sweats a tremendous amount! (Is your area dry?)I have to keep reminding him, lots and lots of water, little bit of Gatorade not the reverse!

Glad to hear your DS won one of the 2 - our football team lost 20-21 to S. Tahoe, almost no one losses to S. Tahoe! DS said it was disgusting, the whole team didn't have their groove on, the coaches were calling the same plays over and over and over etc......it was a long, quiet ride home!
DS Said the field and the hills that surround the field (it sits in a canyon) still had all the trees, but the top of the rim of the canyon that surrounds the school was burned. :sad2:

Nice to hear Saturday's dinner was a better experience than the last time and Friday nights dinner sounds just wonderful, duck, dessert..........yum!

Sounds like the "new" room is coming along nicely! Next it will be the accessories to pull it all together, I am not the best decorator and it always takes forever to make it right.

We re-did all the family room furniture 2 years ago. We spent hours and hours lounging around Lazy Boy when we finally settled on what we wanted. The sales staff left us alone, I didn't want to get it home and find we were all uncomfortable. (We had already returned a complete set we bought at Macy's since we didn't find it comfortable afterall) This was the biggest/spendiest furniture purchase since we were married. You know, there is always the pieces you pick up here and there, but we re-did the sofa, love seat, recliners, rugs, tables etc......Now we are all comfy and love it!

Friday night I made the 65 sub sandwiches for the team lunch, along with the 20#'s of roasted red potatos for the team breakfast. DH actually did these, he figured out to turn the apple corer/slicer upside down and shove the taters thru it. He had taters sliced in no time:thumbsup2 I added the onion soup mix and we just let them bake all night. I added 60 sausage patties before we went to bed and just let it all cook. Got up at 4, turned the oven up and then delivered it all to the school at 8, served the boys and came home for a nap.

We opted to not go to Tahoe on Saturday. This is only the 3rd time in 4 years we haven't made it to a game. When I got home Friday night it was snowing..............DD had a fever of 103 and felt awful............. We decided that taking her out was not an option and couldn't pawn her off on someone else since she was technically still contagious! I really didn't want to go up there, freeze my hinny off and see DS stand on the sidelines! So DD and I layed around, we ate oatmeal raising cookie dough:goodvibes , watched Princess Diaries for the umpteenth time and then I bought Pretty in Pink which we watched also. Didn't remember the story line, oops :rolleyes1 it was a little more grown up than I remembered (it's been 21 years) so I had a lot of explaining to do.

Hit Qdoba on Saturday night for dinner(whoo hoo, we really know how to live it up:rotfl2: ) DS got home and all of us watched Lethal Weapon 2 (DD loves James Bond so we decided to introduce her to the "Boys") there was more cookie dough involved (the latest fundraiser was delivered) this time it was the chocolate chunk and I actually baked it.

Sunday, slept in, made my salad, & headed to my friends for dinner and drinks. It was great!

My Boys are big Red Sox Fans so of course all is good in our house and tonight The Patriots are on Monday Night Football - things don't get much better! It will be a noisy evening!
I think I will head into town to get the remaining supplies for DD's class scarecrow and her Halloween costume, if she sorts out what she wants to be sometime soon! First it was a gothic princess:confused3 , then it was a queenprincess: and who knows where we will end up! Personally I loved the year she was a blue Lego (I made her and her Dad matching costumes), but she won't go there again, neither will her Dad! :upsidedow

Horseshowmom:
Is this the week of fancy hotels, room service, maid service etc?
How is DH's hearing? Does he realize that he just lost an "excuse" for ignoring you:rotfl:

I think that is it - hope all is well in your worlds. Have a great day!

Pam, I agree check in, we think of you often.

Hey Girls:

Sandy: Hummmm how about them Rockies:cool1: My Ds was filling me in this morning over breakfast.

Just got back from the Ortho - Knee......................All those good thoughts and prayers worked! Thanks Girls:cool1:
This is the Ortho’s quote “Well, I have never seen anything like this before”
He has no torn ligaments, no major damage – what he does have is a huge contusion – he said it is one of the biggest knee contusions he has seen that did not involve other major damage.

He took a really really big needle and pulled some fluid/blood out of it – took out about ½ shot glass full. Said there was a bunch more but it is too thick and that he needs to heat/ice it and massage it to help his body absorb it. He also is plugging him into 4-6 weeks of P/T 3 times a week to help loosen up the knee. Told him to get on a stationary bike and get it moving.

He is out for this week and we will just have to wait and see where he is at for play for next week. The Dr. was going to call Coach and work out a plan. If nothing else, he should be back for Sr. Night at the end of October with no issues.

Thats it - I gotta run...............Hope all is well in your necks of the world
