Okay, I am SO proud of myself!!! :yay:

I posted a picture of DS and Girlfriend!!

For your viewing pleasure . . .

I think they make a handsome couple, if I do say so myself. :) The portrait on the mantel over DS's right shoulder is his baby picture when he was just under one!

Hey all....as I said, no faces, but here is a shot of DD and BF and Limo...you can see her dress more than his tux, but it was way cool.
know it is a small picture, but not sure how large a shot is allowed by the photo police...

Pam Sandy...great job posting the photo...SOOO handsome, and his GF is as pretty as you said!

Thanks for posting a picture, Pam. That is a gorgeous dress; they looked like such a handsome couple.

So, I forgot to ask earlier - did Jerk go to the Prom? I know it's not important in the scheme of things, but I guess I'm a little curious. :)

Nope. Jerk did not ask anyone...stayed true to his comment to DD when she turned him down....you know, the head game of..."if you say no I won't ask anyone else" shpeel...GAG! So , he still tries to stay in the picture...just IM'd DD a little while ago, and they have lunch and PE together and he is at her side no matter how hard she tries to tell him. However, he is at her side throwing out digs and nasty comments..so she just tries to ingnore it all, but it is getting harder and harder.
Y'know, with the LOVELY faces I posted on the kids, you'd think they'd have a LINE of prospective dates!:rotfl2:
I asked if I could post them untouched, but they said no...so I understand. Neither has a 'MY SPACE", FACE BOOK, etc., but now if someone else from their group posts somewhere on the net.....:rolleyes1 I may just post that image here...but for now, that's what I've got!
Good Night ladies...I have my van back to the tune of $800 so far in the last 2 weeks, so I will be out tomorrow... must bargain shop the groceries until we recover from the repair bill.

Pam

Just popping in to say I love the prom stories! :) What great kids you all have. And gorgeous, too.

Finfan, I think your DD picked the right dress. :thumbsup2

Very handsome young man, and her dress was gorgeous! They made a very nice looking couple. :goodvibes

They do grow up so fast, don't they? :guilty:

Again, another great looking couple! They really did match well (as you said), and the limo seemed to be made just for them.

By the way, I love the smiley faces! You ought to print one of that one to add to their other pictures. :rotfl2:

Thank you. And thanks to Pam and Maleficient13 for the compliments as well. I'm so blessed to have such great kids.

Yes, they do grow up so fast. I have to start looking into photographers for DS's senior pictures and it just seems like we were doing this for DD not too long ago.

Congratulations to your DD for her grades. She must be a very special young lady to have such enthusiastic support from her professors.

It is SO nice to have DD home from college. I cannot believe how much STUFF that girl had in one dorm room, though. She's been spending her time trying to figure out how to store it this summer. I think her bedroom is going to be pretty full!! :)

Thank you too!

I agree about having DD home. It's always a pleasure (almost always ;) ) to have her around.

Now, BF comes by our house on his way home from work and stays until 8:30 or so (the school where he teaches right now is 75 miles from his house, and he has to be there at 7:30 a.m., so he has to get to bed to get up very early). We're crossing our fingers for next year, because an opening has just come up at a school 5 miles from his house.

This weekend they looked at engagement rings and picked out what they like. She doesn't want to get engaged for a couple of years, but they know what they want now! :rotfl2:

Horseshowoman...just took the time to reallly read the posts...4.0!!!!!!!!!:cool1: That is so cool...that is NOT an easyy achievemnet by far...I can only hope...DD dangles between a 3.6 and 3.8 most the time. She will have an AP class next year so weighted at 5, but who knows. HOWEVER....the 4.0 has just been trumped by the engagement ring shopping! Ohhhh, how I LOVE looking at new "hardware"...it's a joke around here, if DH goes to the hardware store, so do I, only mine doesn't sell lawn mowers or fertalizers!. Not that I buy, I just like to look at all the shiny things. Keeping fingers crossed that the closer position pans out. Have fun storing all the belongings...I have another year before entering that situation.
Sandy, funny you mention the Senior pictures...we have been getting bombarded w/literature from places...I thought it was just theri yearbook photo, but apparently it is the norm to basically have a personal "photo shoot"...DD will never go for that, believe me, the Prom pictures were enough to have her run and hide from cameras for a LOOOOONG time...( unless we were at WDW, now that's a different story) WDW...hmmmmm, seems like forever since we have been, and it was in August! Well, the van ate up any summer plans. I thought we had dropped $800, but it was just over $1,000. Man, am I disgusted. We HAVE to get another car, my mom arriving and not being able to be left alone is really gong to call for some creative timing around here. We have no time to get one before she arrives, and no time to leave her after. Sigh....again she is insisting on staying on the first floor...I just can't egt it thru her head that we actually LIVE in our house and kids are over all the time etc. Just cannot have all her "stuff" and meds in the powder room taking it over. Our friends/neighbors leave for Hawaii on 6/7...DD is watching all their pets and has been given the O.K. to hang there as long as she needs to , incase Gramma is getting to her...I just may join her!
Well, off to pay the Real Estate taxes, yep, so lovely RIGHT after shelling out for the van. This has been an expensive month!
Hi Mal! Thanks for the vote on the dress, I will try and post another image maybe just a bit bigger, of the group,( and yes they will ALL have smiley faces)they just alll had such a great time, I am sad it has ended, but that is what summer is for! DD has been invited to BF for a Halo 3 event tomorrow, but she is working and even tho DD plays video games, she decided she should let this be a guy thing....smart move I told her, as BF has been spending a LOT of time with her, he can't let his friends disappear. Gotta go,

Pam

Pam, we didn't do the photo shoot, but most of the others around here do. My cousin's DD spend over $1000 on hers (had an album with many, many pictures). I couldn't believe it. Good luck with yours!

Good Morning, all. :goodvibes

Pam and Horseshowmom, senior photographs are a fairly big deal around here so I expect we'll spend a decent chunk of change on them (under $1,000 though). I have to do some investigation into finding a good photographer that was cheaper than the one we used for DD's photos - she was too expensive for the results we got.

DS's girlfriend baked us brownies yesterday, so I was bad and had one for dessert last night. He's got final exams starting tomorrow that go through Wednesday, so he'll be busy.

DD spent the night at a local college with one of her soccer buddies. I'm sure she had a lot of fun catching up.

Melissa, I have fallen off the WW wagon and am trying to get myself back on the straight and narrow again!! Haven't heard from you in a while; hope things are okay.

Pam, I've been thinking about your parents and all of the stress you've been going through. We're here to listen if you need us.

Horseshowmom, it would be SO nice if DD's boyfriend could get that teaching job. I hope everything falls in place for him. Especially with the price of gas!! :scared1: Interesting that they aren't getting engaged yet but are looking at rings. Do you think it will happen sooner than both of them are telling you?

Well, back to work. I hope everyone has a good day!!

Honestly, he'd love to get engaged tomorrow (and married the next ;) ). She doesn't want to get engaged before she finishes her undergrad. After that she'll have two years left (one of them at the Medical Center in Jackson and the last year back here doing her rotations - she can live at home for that one).

He wants to get married when she gets back from Jackson. She leans toward waiting until she's completely done. She's pretty goal oriented and is concerned about dealing with "last year of school/first year of marriage". It could go either way. She first didn't want to be engaged over a year (doesn't believe in long engagements), but I think she's leaning toward getting formally engaged after she finishes her undergrad now.

I know he wants to buy her a nice ring, so I think they're looking now, so he can make sure he has the money together to afford what she wants! ;)

I can relate to the "no long engagements" sentiment, as DH and I met during the first year of law school and got married the summer after that. In fact, we didn't even know each other a year when we got married. There were a lot of folks that thought we were nuts. But . . . we'll be married 24 years in August, so it all worked out okay. Sometimes you just KNOW things are right. But it WAS both stressful finishing law school together and at the same time, comforting to have someone going through the same experience at the same time. It's a very personal decision.

Yes, gotta make sure there's enough money in the "ring budget"! :)

We have friends whose son and his DW met the first day of law school. They eventually married just before the last year of school and graduated together.

Personally, I'd be happy with either of the timeframes (before her last year or right after). He did tell her that he'd be much better satisfied if she at least had her ring before she started her year at the Medical Center in Jackson (something about hoping it would keep the med students away from her :rolleyes1 :rotfl: ).

Hey all:
So you didn't think I got hit by a bus or something
DD has had the heaving puking stomach flu and I have been home with her since mid-day Tuesday - catch up later today, if she stays at school.

Hope she's better soon. That's an awful disease and makes you feel so bad. :flower3:

Sorry to hear that, Melissa. Hope she feels better soon. :goodvibes

First I want to say to you ladies that your technical prowess amazes me. I have no idea where to start in regards to posting a picture. I did take some with the digital camera, I am a Canon Rebel w/ film(the stuff that has to be developed) kinda girl!

Secondly, thanks for all the good wishes for DD, she has bounced back, and you guessed it, DH started puking right after dinner (and no, it wasn't my cooking). I have a feeling it is going to be a looonnnggggg weekend. Learned today that DH has to have hernia surgery next Wednesday, Lord help me, pass the Martini's!

Hello to all....Prom was a HUGE success!
I am so glad things went well!

I have now witnessed the importance of "who" the group is. 2/3 of DD's group was wild, nutty, insane and it made the night! I picked up her pictures from during the dance...the throw away camera type...OMG...they are hilarious! I can relax knowing that DD has a fun side...and that she is not as "prudish" as she appears. As bad as this sounds, DH and I were getting a little concerned, that she woud be eaten up alive at college, but looks like she can hold her own!
Funny how they grow up and come into their "own" I look at DS with his social group and sometimes it just cracks me up!
Grabbed DD from school during 8th period..that is the only time she sees Art Guy, so she was not thrilled, but priorities..that hair was not going into an up-do by itself!
Girls:rolleyes:

Now...the issue of the garter is still out there...I had run to Hobby Lobby to one for each of the girls in the group as we figured better to have and not want, than to want and not have. DD caved and decided fine, but then wanted to personalize it for Art Guy...
Really:rolleyes1

grab my sewing kit and we are off.
Did anyone else picture McGyver here??????????:rotfl:

.remember the flower? I was so worried that the Black Magic was not really going to be what DD wanted, but she said it was fine...edges were not as dark as she would've liked, but it was a pretty deep red, and very velvety, so we were good to go.:woohoo: SOOOOOO,
yeah! Post a picture of this flower, I am intrigued

do you have your ID? TICKET? Like, a gazillion times.
:lmao: DS's date forgot hers and they were about 1/2 mile from her house and had to go back, this was after both her Mom and I asked that same question a gazillion times

She allows eye lashes to be curled, slightest of black eyeliner, violet/glitter near the corners ( apparently Art Guy likes violet for a real color, for clothes, mostly black) and a little blush. Good thing because there is no time for anything else. She gives the thumbs up on the face and goes to get the dress on. well ladies, out comes a grown up girl, not my normal sweat wearing, goin' fishing, horse riding little artist. I seriously had to do a double take. And then the moment was gone...
ooohhhh I am all goose pimply!

Car sounds awesome!
Girls are giggling, etc., and then one says, I wish we had gotten garters...TA-DAHHHHH...I hand them out, the run into the house to put them on, get the photo of them showing them off ( ahem, one mom was not too thrilled that the heathen in me had just given her DD a garter...but oh well!) DD was so happy that I had grabbed them, I was given a hug! Made my week! Art Guy also enjoyed his little souvineer, but DD took it off and handed it to him, not him getting it on his own.
Don't you just love when you save the day!

no sooner does my head hit the pillow and the phone rings..:scared1:( now keep in mind my mom's health, late night calls are always scary)it was Art Guy.....could he talk to DD...sure...so I have no idea how long that call lasted, I crashed.
Art Guy just lost a couple of points! ;)

DD had a blast, said the best dance ever, Art Guys first dance ever he loved it...and she is definitely planning to go again next year. So, DD's first instinct to say no to Jerk and stick to her guns and ask Art Guy...wait, that would be BF now.....:goodvibes .....was right on target. I am so proud of her.
That is great they had so much fun. She learned that she does make good decisions and I know that as a Mom I am proud of her and I don't even "know" her.

Awesome review - thanks for sharing, sounds like everyone had a great time, ArtGuy is now BF and he has nice parents - it's all good!
