Let simplify Memory Maker!!

I can tell you this about MM. Don't ask Disney CM how it works none of them know. We bought it for our trip march 12-24. It comes with no instructions, or so little instructions that you don't know what to do. I linked it to dd band, instructions say that is the only one who can get the pictures, in our case that is and was true my band did not work to get the pictures even thou we are linked. But since I linked her thru my account we were able to view pictures but not download them. After numerous trips to the stores in Disney everyone telling us a different store and all of them wrong. We finally got our answers, 6 hours of total frustration and going back to ask more questions to be told our problem was two first and formost MM is not iPad computable, and we only have iPads. You can not download pictures on an iPad, it will not work. Second the MM was linked to her band but my account, so after another round of phone calls and transfers we finally got them to link it to my account to get the pictures, but we still had the problem of only having iPads. So we had to get my dd who was not on vacation with us to log into my account, use my passwords and download the pictures onto her Mac. Oh but wait many did not download, MM obviously is not Mac comparable either. Another three phone calls and we are still waiting to here if we finally got the photos.

I will never buy again. First not enough places or photographers, in ak, ep, and HS there is only two places they are standing. Many rides do not have photography, many times the ride ones do not show up. And when you do bell,s tales you get 100 pictures of people you don't know. Many dining don't have pictures of the characters either. Also many of the pictures on iPad are very blurry.

My experience it is a total waste of time and money. I fell it is the one place Disney stole our money, and until people in the stores can actually help you and fix problems, or until Disney can be honest and tell you it is not iPad comparable, and until they can have enough photographers I. The parks and fix the problems with rides not showing up, this is one product that just is not worth the money.

This is upsetting to me. I bought a package with a Free Memory Maker. I am an Apple User. I have an iPhone, iPad, and a Mac Computer. My husband does have a PC.

Anyway, my vacation is not until August. Hopefully the Memory Maker will work for me better than it did for you. All I can do is wait, and see. At least I did not pay for it.

I was perfectly happy with the old Photopass System. I liked the days when I could leave for home on my last day, and my Photopass Disc was safely tucked away in my carryon.

What strikes me as strange is that the CMs at the park FP kiosk use iPads, right? And to offer a service that does use one of the most common personal technology gadgets is ... well it's like when the disney site did not play well with Firefox

The question I have about MM is how long is it active? I have a stay coming up in may from the 23 through 25. Is MM only active during that stay or is it for 45 days from activation? We plan on visiting Disney 2 weeks later and I am hoping I can still use MM to get pictures.

I was unable to find an answer on this one.

That is disappointing that the MM is not mac compatible. All we have are macs.

Has anyone called disney to clarify?

Guess I will call later today to see how I link mine since it's part of the package I bought and I can't seem to find a way to do it in MDE.

Very informative thread, thank you for starting it!

I purchased the memory maker package for our upcoming trip. I see my reservation in MDE and it says it's that package, but when I look in the memory maker section of MDE, there is nothing there except the button to link it to my account, but that just takes me to where you can purchase it. Is there anything I need to do myself with that package to have it linked to my MBs or will that all happen automatically (magically? lol) when I check in?

I received a memory maker card in the mail shortly after I purchased it and was able to then link it to my MDE account online. I assume I will be able to use that card and/or my magic band when I am there next month.

:)

kj4msu, was your MM part of your package or did you buy it separately?
I purchased the package deal that is out that includes the MM for free and I didn't receive a card in the mail. Just wondering. Thanks

I bought it separately. I want to say the card came a week or 2 after I purchased memory maker.

This Memory Maker thing has had such a terrible rollout. Mainly due to the lack of CM knowledge.

We have 2 parties going. My party. My brother's party. I have full access to both accounts. Once I buy MM and link it to MY band -- I understand I can use my band for ride pictures.

But the other half of our party will often not be with us. Can he, who is directly linked to me (fully accepted, I can change his Fast Passes) via my account, swipe his own band without me being there to lock in a ride photo?

The Disney material indicates: NO. It clearly says the entitlement holder must be present.

I've asked CMs, they say... "You should probably be able to do that"... We can transfer you to Photopass... and Photopass will transfer me to Memory Maker, and MM will say that's a question about MDE linking and transfer me to MDE Support.

Very annoying.

Well I don't want to probably be able to, then get home and find out we can only get half our pictures and have no recourse to a refund. I want to know for 100% certain that if we buy MM for our combined party of 8 guests (6 and 2) if all 8 will be able to get pix.

And that if all 8 cannot, that I am entitled to my money back.

Can my brother? He is the primary on the other account. He is linked to ours.

Can his wife? She is a secondary on his account, and is linked to mine as a friend of friend, but is "managed by him".

Can MY wife? She is a secondary on my account. Or would I, as the entitlement holder, have to be the one to get ride pics?

Can my kids? If they go on a ride by themselves, I want them to absolutely be able to get the pics without me, the entitlement holder, having to visit the photo booth.

Dinsey either needs to confirm that yes, you can share like this and it will work fine (which opens up the oppor to share among 100 families, so they should limit it in some way) or they need to say no, because you're booked as 2 families, it'll cost you $300 to get what you want, not $150.

This seems like it is such a simple thing that most guests interested in MM would be asking and they should have clear cut answers for.

Thoughts?

I called last week to clarify a few things with MM.

I was told i can add 1 person to have scanning abilities. You have to go to guest services in the park to get another person linked.I hope this info is true since we are likely to split up at some point.

Are they trying to prevent sharing in the Memory Maker program due to the way that the old Photopass Program worked? I know that a lot of people combined many many photopass cards into one account/order. They ended up paying very little, per picture, for what they received.

Seems to me that you should be able to decide before hand who constitutes your traveling party. Then those people should be able to receive digital photos on that one account.

I am sure they will work out the bugs/flaws. If not, the word will spread that this is indeed, not a good idea.

Will NOT buy memory maker ever again! I'm at the parks now and bought the package because this is my 50th birthday trip. I know there are at least 10 pictures, two are ride photos, that have not been added to my account over the past 5 days. I was depending on memory maker to capture all my special moments. I never get the package because it's so expensive, but I wanted some great pictures for this trip with my daughter. Also, there are not many photographers around. Twice when we were entering the park, there was no photographer in front of the train station. My goal was to get 150 pictures, one per dollar spent. Right now I have 81 and it's our last day. Sure hate that I wasted that money. I could have just gotten the photographers to use my iPad or phone instead. Lesson learned.....don't count on memory maker for your sole source for pictures!!

I will be taking a lot of my own photos, but since I am traveling alone, I am never in any of them, unless I ask the Photopass Photographer to take some with my camera. It does seem that the photographers make a better effort when they see that you have prepaid for something. The more comments that I here about the Memory Make Product, the more that I am happy that I didn't pay for it. It is free with my package.

I am a little nervous now, up until today I have been reading about everybody in the party being able to add pictures. I am the primary planner and there are 6 on my reservation all linked to my MDE account. If they are on my account I understood that they could scan pictures. If this is not the case I am not sure I want the package. I have a 2 year old daughter so ride pictures will definitely be done without me there all the time....

Before you download photos do you still get the option of adding borders etc? And do you no longer get a CD - do you just get the download option now?

Thanks for your help all - this thread is really useful!

Yes, borders and signatures can still be added to photos

Memory maker by default comes with no disc but one can be purchased as an add on.

Okay, MM sounds complicated. I see that there's a link on Disney's PhotoPass page to purchase the disc of photos and edits pre-trip for $119. Does anyone know if this is, indeed, still honored/functional? I'd so much rather do it the old way!

It's not not Mac compatible. It's not mobile device compatible. This is because you're trying to use a desktop site on a mobile device. They often disable functions in mobile devices to halfheartedly display web pages.

As I've said a million times, the memory maker downloads the traveling party collects photos. The only thing that matters is that somehow you get photos into the memory makers account. It's a pretty simple answer.

Memory maker is the ability to download photos that's all. As long as you have them in friends and family and check the box that says "this person can view and purchase my PhotoPass photos they'll show up.

You got 81 pictures and you feel that you wasted your money? That's less than $2 a picture. I would agree though about not making it your sole source of pictures - as many times as I've been, I wouldn't dream of not taking my own camera.

Memory Maker replaced PhotoPass+. What you saw is the PhotoPass archive disc, which includes all your PhotoPass pictures but unlike MM (and PhotoPass+), doesn't include ride and dining photos.
