Let’s Revisit Protein Shake Logistics

UPDATE! Guess what Prime Now as available to order for WDW delivery?! Premier Protein! 4-packs are $8.99 so not crazy expensive. I’ll have to carry 14 onboard, tho. Yikes! Well, I’ll have a rolling carryon for the ship & since we are concierge it’s not like I’ll have to haul that heavy bag for hours and hours. Definitely considering this option!

A suggestion: We used Prime Now for our December trip, but found the availability of things went in and out. Since this is something you absolutley require, if you can consider ordering it to your home well in advance and bringing it with you -- that way you KNOW you have it and if there is an issue with availability when you order it you can come up with an alternative. Of course, you may be like me and Prime Now is not available where you live. But if it is and you can do it that way, it may be the safer option.

Did you check with the Spa? They have a smoothie bar, and while I never bought one I think I remember them offering protein powder as one of the additions. Maybe DCL can get you more information from them as well.

Like you, no Prime Now available where we live. I’ve thought about the availability, as well. I wouldn’t want to put 14 of these ready-made shakes in my checked luggage even if we did have Prime Now here at home. The weight wouldn’t be as much of an issue considering hubby and I each get 2 checked bags up to 70 lbs. I’d be worried about all that liquid! I dunno. Maybe I’ll look at boxing it up and labeling it. Then I’m not risking luggage and contents plus not worried with a big void to fill when returning home.

I haven’t personally checked with the Senses juice bar. I saw they use protein as well. I could always go to them each morning and ask them to mix me 8 oz almond milk, a banana, and ice then add my own powders to it in the cup. The most important thing I cannot miss having is the collagen. I continue to be absolutely amazed at how my knees are improving every day. This morning when I got out of bed for the first time in I don’t even know how long I could move without my knees screaming at me. It’s amazing!

@sweetpee_1993 I am so glad you posted this thread! I have been pondering the same thing for our trip in Feb. I am most interested in the protein powder that you use that has collagen as I have hip pain and my husband has issues with his knees. Both might be helped by that.

@sweetpee_1993 I will have to look into the Collagen - DH and I both have knees that give us pain. Thanks for the info. Keep us informed how you make out.

I’ll message y’all so I don’t derail the thread. ;)

Since the collagen seems to be the hitch, is there perhaps a pill form of the supplement you could take when you travel instead of as a smoothie mix-in? That would be easy to pack and convenient to take.

There’s several different kinds of collagen so it took some studying to nail down what was the best fit for me. I haven’t found it in a pill form. I wish I could. That’d make a lot of things easier!

We are another family of Premier Protein lovers here! Even the kids like it and have one for breakfast before school. If you find you like it, you may look into a Sam's membership. They are $16.66 for a 12 pack, and you can have them shipped (free shipping for Plus members).

I’ll see if my mother-in-law still has her membership!

Okay, slightly :offtopic:, but I have been using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides and find it dissolves very nicely into a cup of hot coffee. This company makes individual packets too. Don't know if that will be of any help but I know it is good stuff, and is used a lot by triathletes for better muscle/joint recovery.

Okay, back to Protein Shake Logistics! :flower:

I would love to know what protein and collagen you have found success with. I would appreciate a PM. I need to lose some weight and have failed many diets. Thank you!

I’ll look it up! Thank you!

Instacart is also an option and will deliver to your resort.

Both Publix and BJ's Wholesale Club have it. BJ's is cheaper; they are in 12 packs. Though be sure to compare the delivery and any other fees. Also there is a minimum order for Instacart.

But between Amazon Prime Now and Instacart you should be pretty safe one would think, especially if you flexible on flavour.

You made a great thread. I'm planning on bringing some sample packets of protein I have and a shaker bottle, bit I was thinking about bringing my tub pre-workout to. Do I plan on going off my diet? Yeah, but I plan on working out as well and that helps me. Lucky I'm only driving a hour this time and not flying

Hi! I'm sailing on the Magic next week and was wondering if there was any additional information to add here? Was the hand blender allowed to come on board? (If you tried.) I'm using Shakeology and it's not quite as good in a blender bottle without some fruit. I'm at the end of my large shakeology pack - seems like even if it's been opened I'm better off bringing it in the original container than dividing it into individual ziploc bags? Thanks!

Can't you put Premier Protein pre-made shakes in your checked bags, then switch to a carry on to bring on the cruise? This was my intention for our cruise in March, after reading these posts I am concerned that this is not possible now.

For shipping if buying things from Amazon. You can always use the free Amazon lockers. Just need to find one at a location that you can get to. We have used them in the past and have been anywhere from fuel stations to Whole Foods.

If you are flying, you will put your shakes in your checked bags and then move them into a carry on when getting on the ship. Just make sure you do it before getting to port, as the porters who take your luggage move fast. We have packed a carry on with all our drinks as a checked bag so we don't have to do shuffling. We have also packed a carry on with our drinks inside a larger suitcase so we could pull it out at the airport.
