Lesson learned the hard way!

My sister went to Italy with a friend who was visiting family many years ago, I think she was 10 when she went. She brought a camera with her that she thought was an Advantix camera but WASN'T and she never loaded the film properly! She came home from a two week trip to Italy with not a single picture; and she was changing the film out too! We teased her about it too. How she didn't notice that the camera never made that whirr noise after a pic, that it never made a sound to rewind the film, that the counter never counted down... so many clues!

I have been tempted to get one of those Eye-Fi cards so we'll stop blaming each other for taking a card out and misplacing it. I'll have to look into that... and now I have to go see if my D200 has a setting like that...

Leave the flap that covers the memory card open until you replace the card.

I have a six card rotating systems. I upload the picture from the camera then change the card to the next card. If I use the card reader instead I change the card before putting the camera away.

I am a big fan of a tip I learned from these boards... Take a picture before you pack up your camera for the trip. This eliminated the no battery/dead battery no card dance of photography death that can bite you in the buns..

Hopefully you check out your camera the night before you leave so you will have time to throw the battery in the charger with it's cord tied around your camera back pack. That's another trick I use to keep from leaving the house with out a camera and battery.

The final thing I do is clip my car keys on to my camera bag and place it by the front door. I'm not going anywhere with out a car so that helps me to remember to put the camera bag IN the car.

This stuff has really helped me... I hope it helps you as well.
