Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Lesson number 6. I should raise my tolerance for alcohol before my next trip, and should also have a snack to drink with.

:rotfl2: This sounds like something someone with a drinking problem would say. "My problem was that I hadn't drank enough, leading up to the trip." You're too funny Yuki!

Looks like you learned a couple of things about yourself in this chapter:

(Aren't I selfless? :littleangel:).

My, aren't I resourceful?

So what does a girl do when she wants something but doesn't want to pay for it?

That's right, I walked around the store with Stitch in my arms, making googly eyes at Andrew until he said, "Fine! That's my anniversary gift to you, ok?" Of course, I nodded happily and giddily jumped up and down as he paid for it at the counter. =) That brings my Stitch plush count up to 6.

Oh my gosh, you've got poor Andrew wrapped around your finger. And worst of all -- you know it!

As I was wandering around, looking for souvenirs, I came across some crocs. I had never been a fan of crocs clogs cause I think they look hideous. But the store had some Athens on display, which is one of their flip flop designs. It looked pretty good so I tried on a pair.

My impression? My feet were singing HALLELUJAH. They were so incredibly comfortable!!! I knew right then that I had to get me a pair. On sale. Not at Disney.

I'm with you...I've always thought they were uuugly. But now I have a pair that sit at the back door for when I take the dog out. Easy on, easy off, and comfy. I'd still never wear them "in public" though.

Sooooo, after all this, I have finally learned the lesson. Lesson number 8. Only buy souvenirs for myself. No more buying them for friends and family. Or at least, no more big ticket items. From now on, I will only buy souvenirs at Mickey's Mart.

Yeah, my family used to do that too and we had to learn this lesson also.

Enjoying the Updates YUKI!!! To bad about Ghiraldis !!! I try to limit my souvenir shopping and only get a few things ech time !!The kids usually want a T Shirt and Judy Mickey jewelry !!!I do want to get a Disney Spoon rest anda Mickey ice cube tray!!Of course I have to get me a pin!!!!

YUKI!

OH MY GOSH. I am so behind on your report! But I just read your most recent update, so I thought I'd comment.

Minnie Mouse merchandise is the best. I just wish I was 7 years old again so that I could fit in one of the dresses. LOL.

I love that you convinced Andrew to buy you the giant Stitch. I need to find a man who'll buy me a giant Stitch.

Basin is like heaven. I wanted to buy one of everything, but resisted and only wound up leaving with a bar of Mickey Mouse soap. Next trip I'm making one of the soy candles though, for sure.

That sucks about the service (and lousy shake) at Ghiradelli. I've always wanted to try it, but maybe not anymore...

Yuki! I learned that lesson a while ago too. I don't even buy anything for anyone on any vacation I go on. It might be a little bit selfish, but it's MY vacation so I should be making myself happy. It's kind of selfish of others in my opinion to be expecting a gift from me when I come back to begin with. I know it's your culture but I think even if I followed my husband's culture (He is Filipino) I would lose my mind. Hahah we are so American in that respect!

I am super picky about eating out now a days. I mean it's kind of crazy because I try to eat so healthy. So I would have asked for my money back and never got the shake because of that. I would have been so upset. Not mad, but just upset. Haha that kind of stuff happens to me all the time.

I'm glad that Andrew got you the Stitch did you get to trade more pins during your trip?????

How funny you walked around the store holding Stitch until Andrew finally gave in! :rotfl: Sweet he helped pay for the souvenir items, even if you did pay him back later on. I just usually buy something for my mom when I'm at WDW. I'm a broke college grad, I can't afford to buy stuff for everyone back home  It's ok, it's not like they expect anything, anyway.

I think Ghiradelli's gone downhill in terms of quality. Their brownie sundae isn't as ginormous as it used to be and it's now 10 bucks for a small goblet! Boo.

It's hard not to spend money when you are in DTD

Aw how nice of Andrew to take the hint and buy you the Stitch

I still have yet to visit Basin that is a must do when I go in August!

Ugh I am sorry about the bad service at Gheradelli! They should have at least apologized for losing your ticket!

It is easy to spend a lot of money at WDW I don't even want to think about the most money I have spent there :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear about TOT!

Merry Christmas, Yuki and Andrew!

Merry Christmas! I got your card yesterday, thank you so much! The little drawing of you was so cute! :)

Merry Christmas Yuki!!!

Great updates! :sad2: for overspendng at DTD. I know how it feels... to find a bunch of perfect things then realize how much of it doesn't fit in your budget!!!

By the way... i did get Epic Mickey for Christmas. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play today!!! Veerry excited!!!

Of course, key word is "too much" because I will, much to the displeasure of Andrew, spend some time in the stores. He knew about this well before the trip, so he was ready and armed with his DS.

Yuki, I don't know if I've said this before or not but I believe Andrew is the Asian version of my boyfriend Steve. I swear, he does the exact same things. Also you, like myself, totally know his weakness. A little pout of the lips and a bat of the eyelashes and they're done for.

With Steve and I whenever we go shopping, I'll warn him that it will be a while and he'll say "It's ok I have my DS and/or PSP" :)

And with buying stuff for me, I don't usually buy stuff for myself, I always say "I could use the money on something else." I also don't do it on purpose but I'll see something and then look at the price tag and put it back because it's too much or decide I don't really need it. Then Steve will look at me and ask "Do you want it?" And I usually say "Nah, it's ok" then we go back and forth him asking if I want it and me coming up with a thousand excuses why I don't need said item and he'll end up ignoring me and buying for me anyways. He usually comes up with some excuse saying it's an early [insert anniversary/holiday here] or sometimes he'll just say "Happy [insert day of the week]"

But enough about me back to your trip....

Shame about Ghiradellis. :sad2: I guess it's just regular old human error, however if seems to be consistently bad with the service. Especially since the shake was just meh.

I really want to check out the Pirate section of World of Disney. What's better than Pirates and Stitch?

The pin store also looks really neat. The Yoda/Stitch pin is so awesome. It combines two of my favorite characters. And I love love love Elvis Stitch. I really want to get some pins to trade on my trip.

OH and also, Crocs are awesome! I love me some crocs. Most people who can't stand Crocs are won over by the same kind you bought. They are little pieces of heaven for your feet.

I'm curious to know whether or not some of your relatives give you money BEFORE you go on vacation as good luck of sorts for travel. My grandparents still do that when we go away, ESPECIALLY when we travel on an airplane. We used to also do the souvenir thing, but now that we don't have much money, we don't do it any longer. It becomes a search for something they'll like and something they'll use, so it gets to be difficult. We ALWAYS go to Florida, so there's nothing new for them. My relatives go to places like Europe, so it's different!

Howard and I kind of got into pins on our last trip! We went to the nearby outlet and found them for 50 cents! They were perfect because we could trade every single one of them. Of course, we didn't buy THAT many because we didn't think we'd need it. STUPID move. We didn't realize that we could've just stocked up! AGHHH, we're STILL regretting it! We're going to have to go back and look there the next time we're in Florida. Even if they're $1, we'll get them. I even asked the CM who worked there if they were all tradeable, and she said they were. She said it was the best way to start trading and that they RARELY ever go that cheap. We should've listened to her advice more than we did!

I'm with you with how funky some of the crocs are! I never thought I'd get crocs, but they're branching out to make things that aren't just the clogs. I have 3 pairs of crocs. I have the Lily Winter flats that I wear every day to work until it's too cold, and I have to switch to boots. I also have the Cleo, which is what I wore to DTD in my current TR. I like that they stay on my feet and that they don't have the flip flop thong (it starts to hurt me after a while). My last shoe is the Adara, but that was because I bought it with a buy one get one free deal. It was too loose to wear outside, so it's the slippers I wear at home, and they're so comfortable! They all are! Good decision though not buying it at Disney! If you stalk the crocs site or even the budget board on DIS, you'll find out about great sales and deals!

Yay an update!! I love all your pictures and you're so funny! I took my first trip to WDW in May so I can relate to Andrew :)

I had the same problem with spending money as you did, luckily my BF is just as generous as Andrew is haha! Can't wait to hear more!

Hi, Yuki! I have seen you on so many other people's TRs I decided to come and check out yours. And I have been so glad that I did! I read the whole thing in a couple sittings. I have loved seein Disney through your eyes; you are so enthusastic and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. You also got to meet Karin and Tom (Dizneeat) who I will be lucky enough to meet come February! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to more updates!

Hi Yuki! Just got all caught up on your most recent updates. Souvenirs are always tricky for me too. I go down there with all these ideas about things I'd love to get - but I have a hard time spending money on myself. So I buy a bunch of stuff for other people first. Then when I realize how much I've blown - I REALLY don't want to spend any money on myself. Its a sickness, I know;)

Andrew was so sweet to get you that Stitch (and to help you out with your big World of Disney bill!). And he looks adorable in the Earl of Sandwhich pictures. You've got yourself a keeper!:goodvibes

Epic Mickey is really hard Yuki! I have trouble just moving around. I wish the controls to move around were like on Playstation for Star Wars Battlefront...I can move around in that without even thinking about it.
