Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

I've never subscribed to a a trip report before.Very interesting as we are planning for late August soon.Reading with great interestpopcorn::
I get sooo excited for other people:goodvibes

I'm honoured to be your first TR subscription! Late August is a pretty good time, if you can handle the heat and humidity.

Woohoo! So exciting to read your TR!! I already have a bunch of stuff that I want to respond to, but will probably have to do it when I get back. (Love Sonic, BTW, and yes, there are barely any in my area. Garrett popcorn is sooo good. You must get the cheese/caramel "mix". It's the only reason to eat that many calories. LOL) :lovestruc

Still waiting to see what the deal is with Hurricane Earl. So far no flights are cancelled or delayed. It's hot and sunny in NYC right now, but come Friday, we're expecting rain and wind. Wish they would just allow us to change flights already! It's so silly for them to wait until the last minute just to see thousands of passengers stranded at the airport. Ugh.

Looks like we'll be working on our TRs at the same time as well. Love it!
Can't wait to hear more!

Hey Su! So many of us are writing our TRs right now

I hope that hurricane doesn't affect your flight out of NYC. It really IS stupid to make passengers wait. You'd think airlines would've learned from past storms.

I'm really excited to see your PICTURES! What's the name of the tripod you're bringing?

Chapter 3a. Day 1 pt.2-I'm all fired up!

On our way to the United terminal, we go through this underground-looking tunnel with a moving sidewalk that looked VERY cool.

DSC00014.jpg

The lights were changing and looked like a wave of colours that went back and forth.

After about 10 minutes of walking, we finally reach the corridor with our gate. We were pretty hungry by then, so looked around for some food. We found this mini food court with a pizza place and a Manchu Wok. The prices for food were ridiculous! A small personal pizza the size of my palm, was $8+!

We walked around some more and found a pretzel place, Auntie Anne's. You know what? I wish she was MY aunt! She sure knows how to make pretzels! We bought a pepperoni pretzel for each of us. They were bigger than the personal pizzas, and were at half the price!

DSC00018.jpg

If you look at the necklace I'm wearing...you'll notice that it's a white star with a Mickey in the middle! It's a Swarovski pendant my mom gave to me as a gift. The other side of the pendant is the crystals, but it's easier to spot the Mickey this way. You'll be able to see it more clear in some of my future pictures. I'm wearing it as I type this!

DSC00023.jpg

They're HUUUGE!!! And delicious!!! Nom nom nom.

We had never seen a pretzel like that. Not just the size, but the type. Up here, we only get dessert pretzels, and not meal-type ones, so it was very refreshing. We get plain pretzels too, but they're not so popular. Random fact: I :lovestruc pretzels.

After finishing our food, I remembered that I wanted to take pictures of my travel mate to show you guys. I named her Shelly.

The front, with my LGMH! It's so smaaaall.
DSC00019.jpg

The side, with a Stitch croissant Andrew bought me in Taiwan!! It actually smells like bread too. The Minnie Mouse was given by a housemate of mine.
DSC00020.jpg

The OTHER side, with another Stitch strap Andrew bought me. He actually bought me the whole set in the series!
DSC00021.jpg

I gotta say, I really liked carrying Shelly. I could wear her about 3 ways, depending on what I felt like. My notebook, wallet, video cam you saw in the 1st picture, and all other little things I carried on my body fit comfortably in her.

Here's a photo of my carry-on bag!
DSC00024.jpg

And this is the shirt I chose to wear. Some people stopped to ask me what I was "all fired up" about. I happily told them, "DISNEY WORLD!!! :cool1:"
DSC00025.jpg

The flight to MCO was the longer of the connecting flights, but it sure didn't feel like it. They had tv shows on the monitors. Some of what we watched were Big Bang Theory (WOOHOO!), Parenthood, and . . . I think we were landing at MCO around this time. :cool1:

On our way to the mini-monorail ride, Andrew saw his first pay-email machine.
DSC00027.jpg

We were both appalled by the prices :scared1:
DSC00028.jpg

Taken on the monorail. I grabbed the front of course.
DSC00029.jpg

Ahh, the Asian peace sign. I think I only did it....twice this trip.
DSC00030.jpg

So we get to the main terminal, and have a heck of a time finding the DME. This is my 2nd time in MCO, and first time staying at a Disney resort. It takes us a while to figure out, "hey, we're still on the 2nd floor." DME, is on the 1st floor!

Once we get there though, I see signs for DME, but I don't see it anywhere! :confused:We see some families heading in one direction, so we take a chance and followed them.

We found it! :worship:

Our line!
DSC00036.jpg

I should remind you guys that Andrew is the one that held the camera for the majority of our trip. Naturally, I wanted to take lot of pictures for this TR. But even without me asking him to, he took lots of pictures anyways! I guess he's more shutter happy than I thought he was. I was the one with my hand on my vidcam, Jerry. I was more than pleased with his picture taking.

Still need more pictures though. :upsidedow

Cont'd in next post

Chapter 3b. Day 1 pt.2-Look, it's our hotel! Take pictures of the sign!

When it's finally our turn to head out to the busses, we see this!
DSC00040.jpg

HALLELUJAH! :worship:

Unfortunately, we get this Mears bus.
DSC00041.jpg

:sad1:

I tried to get the whole name of the bus into one picture, but I fail cause I'm too close.
DSC00044.jpg

The weather was beautiful, by the way. Absolutely gorgeous. It's so much more superior than the Toronto and Waterloo weather I'm used to. Here's a shot from the bus.
DSC00045.jpg

I could get used to THIS. And I have. I WANT TO GO BACK!!!

So, we pass by the WDW sign. What? No pictures???

Well...we tried to take pictures, but it came out too blurry. :sad2: I must be the only TR without a photo of that sign (other than the ones that take a "back" entrance).

But we got to see this!

Closer...

The gate...
DSC00054.jpg

And we're finally there!!!

Up next: Checking in and checking out Epcot.

We walked around some more and found a pretzel place, Auntie Anne's. You know what? I wish she was MY aunt! She sure knows how to make pretzels!

The headquarters of Auntie Anne's is just up the road from me, about 20 miles, Yuki. They are good!

So your bag is named Shelly, and did I read that you named the videocamera Jerry? You crack me up!

Hey, get fired up, would ya? You're going to Disney World!

I wish there were Auntie Anne's in Canada! I'd have that for lunch every day...

I name most of my things. My laptop is Larry, my laptop sleeve is Henry and my car is Harvey.

I wish I could upload my video from my trip. I'm practically delirious when I'm walking into Classic Hall. :worship:

Hey, Yuki! Loving the TR so far. The Minnie Mouse sunglasses, the "All Fired Up" shirt, and your red skirt all have me way jealous. So cute.

We live right down the street from a Sonic. They are awesome, but I hardly ever eat there because it's not good for my thighs. :lmao:

Those pretzels look delish. *drools* Gonna have to stop by Auntie Anne's the next time I go to the mall. Yum!

Can't wait to read more. Pop Century is so awesome! :thumbsup2

Hey Em! So happy to have you here. We're the same age!

Yes, I love my clothes. I also have a lot of pun-y shirts. "Olive U" is one of my faves :lovestruc

I'll be hopping the border this weekend at Niagara, so if I see a Sonics, I'm SOO stopping to get something. There's another reason for the trip down, but I'll get to that in my TR later.

Pop Century is SOO NICE! I really loved the location of my room. I might request rooms in the same vicinity on my next stay at the Pop.

PS. Reading your completed PTR right now. I bought the exact same Mickey bag in brown and pink during my trip! I love it!

Just letting you know I am following your TR. I am a geek too and I totally knew what you were talking about when you mentioned the Family Guy thing.

Hey Kellie! Great to have another geek in the thread! I'm huge on geeking out. My siblings and I constantly quote Family Guy.

Andrew and I have figured out that geeks especially, love quoting. 3 out of 5 sentences out of our mouths are quotes!

I name most of my things. My laptop is Larry, my laptop sleeve is Henry and my car is Harvey.

I'm not real good at remembering names so I'm afraid it'd be an awkward situation when I forgot my laptop sleeve's name and kept saying "hey you...how're you?" And then my laptop would ask me why I didn't introduce it to the sleeve....with an accusatory "You don't remember its name, do you?!"

Yeah, that wouldn't be good.

Great update, and I looooove Auntie Anne's pizza pretzels!!!

I also couldn't stop laughing when I saw the picture of the Gaylord Palms hotel!!! Immature little me always can't help but smile when ever we drive past it in Disney!!! :lmao:

I'm a little late, but I'm here now and I'm all caught up!! :thumbsup2

OMG. Auntie Anne's pretzels make my life. You don't have them in Canada? And you don't have Sonic? I am so sorry. You poor Canadians are being deprived of some of the fast food greats.

YAY FOR BEING AT DISNEY!!! Can't wait for more.

We have Auntie Ann's at the mall. We also have 2 Sonics fairly close. You really are deprived.

Loved the update. My oldest is 25 and he and his wife or geeks too. They like a lot of the same things you do.

Looking forward to your arrival at POP!

And now I'm a fan of her pretzels too!!

If you think YOU'RE immature, we're 22 and we're STILL laughing at it.

This is Andrew's favourite picture to show our friends right now.

It looks beautiful though. I'd love to stay there.

I'm a little late, but I'm here now and I'm all caught up!! :thumbsup2

I know, we're SO DEPRIVED. I can't wait to get me some of those when I hop the border this weekend.

We have pretzel places at the mall, but only the super sweet ones at half the size of your pretzels :sad2:

Oooh, they play Munchkins too? That game cracks me up.

I agree about POP!!!!!!:cloud9:

I'm not sure about the mall, but we'll be getting ourselves a bottle of Gulden's spicy brown mustard! We fell in love with it at WDW, but they unfortunately don't sell them in Canada :sad1:

Well, I'm relatively close to the border, so we can meet up another time!

Hi! Following along and loving it so far. You're so funny! I'm staying at POP in December so I'm looking forward to hearing more about your stay there.

I love that you named your bag Shelly because that's my name (although I do spell it Shelley).

Can't wait to hear more!!
