Lesli's Live Long and Strong WISH Journal

We haven't been to GA in about 3 years (although dd had gone with school 2 years ago) and I can't believe the FastLane tickets are now $15 - they use to be $10. What a bummer. Last time we went the streets weren't that clean either and the language from the kids was bad - water park wasn't there yet but still sleezies walking around in almost nothing. Definitely not Disney!!!! And just an FYI - you went right by my house on 88. Just before the bridge where they are doing that construction between Annie Glidden and the Oasis is where I live - right after the overpass after you come out of the tollbooth. My backyard is right up to the tollway!!!! If I would have known you were going that way I would have given you directions from here to get up to 90 - you would have avoided all that construction. Sorry.

Glad you had a good day with the girls and that the girls had a good day. I know I'm going to hate the day that dd is done with GS but I think I'm ready for the break - been doing it for over 10 years now and I'm beginning to get burnout but I'm training now and that's the major part of it (plus doing my old SUM position that I was done with 2 years ago - long story).

You did do pretty good given you had no options of eating your own food!!! Not bad at all.

Keep up the good work!
Keep on
Chris

Thanks for all the heartfelt concerns regarding my brave attempt to venture into Six Flags/GA. ;) It just isn't Disney.

Thanks for the compliment Mike. The teachings come from a great set of grandparents.

Now........WHO STOLE MY MICKEY MOUSE SMILIE AND MY ARIEL AVATAR? I want to know! This is really putting a slight damper on my morning. There aren't even enough smilies to express my thoughts right now. GRRRRRR.

Anyway, food for yesterday was alright, not great. Lunch was according to plan. The pm snack was changed to hard cheese. I was just too tired to go to the effort of making a smoothie. After that, I had 1 Tbsp of PB. Then I decided that if I was that tired, I should go lay down and I did. I should have gone before I let myself get off plan. After I got up, I was waiting for supper, which we hadn't figured out, and I was still to tired to think about, so I ate some ham, then I went and had some trail mix. DH made french toast for supper and I decided to eat a LC Asian style beef instead. It was alright. After that I ate 1 Tbsp of PB. This snacking unneccessarily is going to get me if I am not careful.

Last night I was reading in Dr. Phil's book and came across a chart that told you how many lbs a yr are added through bad food habits. Very scary. I am just thankful that I quite or have significantly backed off some of these habits already. I told DH and he pretty much freaked out, so now he is going to try harder with changing some of his food habits. It covered everything from late night eating to habitual eating to binging and things in between.

I didn't get much done yesterday, as I was tired. I did manage to clear a spot in my office, that is a plus. Then some other stuff came through my door yesterday and is now taking up residence on the floor. But nothing is touching my clean spot. Just a little at a time and I will get it done.

The good news is that I am back down to 195 after this last week of not eating the right foods and not staying in control. It seems like I have been in the 90's forever, but it is not near as long as when I was in the 200's.

Breakfast: oatmeal, 1 c. grapefruit juice, 2 slices ham
AM snack: yogurt & veggies
Lunch: salad
PM snack: banana smoothie
Supper: tuna wrap, veggies, and fruit (I have to leave for a meeting around supper time, so all these things are easy to take with if I don't eat them before leaving, which would be best)

Goals for day:
1. Exercise in the afternoon (this I have determined is my landmine time when I will begin grazing the cupboards and eat unneccessarily, so if I do something active instead, I should be able to steer clear of the kitchen)
2. Work on GS (more came in yesterday that I have to weed through. I think it is actually taking over my house)
3. Clean another spot in my office
4. Do a little catch up on my desk

Time to get going. Everyone have a great day! (Just imagine 2 Mickey's here).

::MickeyMo is this the Mickey that went away...it's still on my smilie list...at least for now.

I think one of the best things about journaling here, actually, is that we become much more aware of our snacking habits, and just how much food we are really eating in a day. I used to think "what a pain" when someone told me I should journal my eating, but now I realize how important it is. It definitely gives you more control to recognize your tendencies and try to come up with alternatives (like exercising in the afternoon...I think that's a great strategy). I've found that when I'm really busy and involved in a project, food becomes more of a nuisance than an obsession. Those are the moments when I really see food as an energy source and not a form of entertainment.

Congrats on holding steady in the 190's. Maybe I'll be able to meet you there at the top just as you are sliding into the 180's. I'll wave :wave2:

Hi Lesli!

Aren't you psyched that the DIS is back to normal! hehe! I know I am!

This snacking unneccessarily is going to get me if I am not careful.

I don't want to worry you, but I heard that the Snacking Unneccessarily gang was down at the school yard talking about how they were gonna take you down.. I told them they were sooo wrong, and then they said, that they heard that they were sooo right, so I said that I knew that I heard that they were definitely wrong... by then we were all confused... (heheheheh! :rotfl: Can you tell I am in a silly mood tonight?! hehe)

Hope that you are having a happy & healthy night!

GREAT News! Down 1.5lbs to 193! AND I stayed on plan yesterday, with the exception of missing my snacks AND the Snacking Unneccessarily Gang did not take me down! :teeth:

I am glad that the DIS is working better today, however, my avatar and most of my smilies are still missing. It's almost like taking away one's identity. Please bring them back soon.

I was busy all day yesterday. Amazingly, I tied up a lot of loose ends on things, but still have more to go. My office still looks like an explosion, so I guess I will be working on that today. I did not get in that afternoon workout, since I lost myself in other projects that needed to get done. Good in one sense, not so good in another.

Missed the AM snack, as I was out of the house taking care of some things. Lunch was a salad w/turkey, cheese & craisins. The PM snack was missed since I just forgot to stop and eat. WOW, how often do I get to say that? Supper was as planned and I ate it at home before I left. Tuna wrap, celery, banana, and 1 c. milk. I did not nibble on anything else. I went to a meeting and didn't stop at fast food or DQ (there are 2 on the way, but thankfully just off the path). I drank lots of water. It was very satisfying to go to bed last night knowing that I did great.

There was one moment that I considered grazing the fridge while I made my lunch, but then I thought about the fact that a small habit like that adds a lot of lbs during the course of the year and backed off. :smooth:

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/sprinkle cheese, 1 banana, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast w/butter, 1 c. milk
AM snack: veggies
Lunch: Tuna wrap, yogurt, & veggies
PM snack: fruit
Supper: Lazagna & salad if DD18 will be home, otherwise it is tacos since DDD7 requested them last week. I will be careful of my servings either way.

Goals today:
1. Exercise in the afternoon for 30 min
2. Bills
3. Tackle more GS paperwork to get it out of my office. Maybe I shouldn't be in charge of so many troops, towns, etc? It really is taking over.
4. Clear another spot in my office

Better get going. I am so excited now that I am back on the losing streak again. I can do this. I am only a few lbs. from being 1/2 way there!

Everyone have a great day! (I miss my 2 Mickey's)

Congrats!!! Doesn't it feel great to fall off of one of those plateaus? :)
Also great job fighting back the Unnecessary Snacking Gang- you SO took away their street cred! ;)

Good luck with bills...one of my all time least favorite things to do.

Have a great day! :)

Congrats on your loss Lesli!!!! How awesome!!!

Oh, I think they Unnecessary snacking gang took your avatar, they left a ransom note that said they would not return it until you ate a bag of ruffled chips and a bowl of onion dip! I told them you would find a new one! LOL :)

Have a happy & healthy night!
Mike

IT'S BACK! I got my identity back! YEA! :cool1:

The scale is the same and that is good. I almost thought it would be back up again. Another busy day yesterday and today.

I did get a very very small spot cleared in my office yesterday, but that is ok since the stuff on that spot took a very very long time to finish up. It was most definitely a GS day. My co-leader came over and helped me sort through all the Brownie stuff so that we can get it on track (we are taking over DD7's troop). It was so much easier than doing it myself.

Food was pretty good yesterday and water was great. :cool1: I did miss the AM snack, worked through it. Lunch was on plan. The PM snack was very very late as I was working through it. So I just had some celery w/PB. Supper plans were changed and I ate 2 pieces of pizza. It was almost like 3 sm pieces, they were so big. I felt so full afterwards for a long time. Next time, just one piece and a salad. WOW, whoever thought it was possible to eat 1 slice? No Unneccessary Snack Gang!

Breakfast: oatmeal, 1 c. milk, 2 slices ham, 1 c. grapefruit juice
AM snack: veggies
Lunch: LC spaghetti
PM snack: salad & smoothie (this will be late and will be my supper at 4pm, since I have to leave for a GS event and it will keep me from over snacking)
Supper: a few light snacks a the event, supposed to be a luau, so hopefully a few healthy things.

Goals for day:
1. Finish more bills
2. Finish a few more GS papers
3. Exercise for 30 min in afternoon

DD18 wants to go shopping for a desk chair, but I think we will wait until Sunday. Today is just too busy. She is chomping at the bit and I think she thinks we will never get the rest of her stuff. I would much rather take a day that is uninterrupted in case we need more time to finish things off.

I better get going, everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Good job on the snacking!!! :)

And good luck on the office...the tops of my desks are still clear, thank goodness. Hopefully I can kept it that way for a few weeks at least.

Have a great day!

Wow!!! Congrats on all of your losses this week! You're doing a wonderful job and making so many positive changes.

I'm so proud of you!!

Thanks for the update about the rain! I can't believe we finally got some--maybe my lawn will be merely brown when I get home instead of the day-glo orange I had before we left!

I hope you have a great rest of the day today! ::MickeyMo

The scale is still the same. I know I am sounding obsessive, but last night fell apart and I just figured it would be up.

I was busy all day yesterday and again focused on pretty much one thing. Good at times, but it wasn't planned. Computer programs can be really great until you find that when they updated the program, they didn't have it automatically transfer some of the old info into the correct places. :badpc: To make it worse, there are no longer reports for the old info so you can't print it out. :badpc: To make it even worse, there wasn't any way that you could highlight the info on the screen and copy it to a clipboard to print it. :badpc: :badpc: My only choice was to write down everything that needed to be pulled out of the old areas and manually put it into the new areas so that it is useful again. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: Needless to say, this made for a long day. But it kept me busy.

I ate a banana for the AM snack, forgetting about the fact that it was going to be part of my smoothie at the PM snack. Lunch was as planned. My PM snack/early supper didn't come off as planned. Unexpected company threw some things off. So 2 of my GS and I left for the GS event/training and I stopped at the store to grab a sm pack of crackers to tie me over. My plan now was to really watch what snacks I ate at the event. No luck, the leaders were pulled aside for training in another room (which turned out to be a hallway, but that is another story). Training was 3 hrs long and we didn't get to partake in the snacks or smoothies the kids got. Not that the kids got much. A little chex mix, a few cookies, and smoothies. They ran out of food, so some kids didn't get anything. Needless to say, my 2 and I were starving when we left at 9:20pm so we stopped at McDonald's. I ate a 1/4 pounder w/cheese & fries, water to drink. The problem is that I would have loved a salad, but how am I supposed to eat that and drive in the dark? I do not like the bread on the new subs at McD's. The meal tasted ok, but not great and obviously, I was really hungry since I ate everything. I did have a hard time getting to sleep when I finally got home around midnight.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/cheese, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast, 1 c. grapefruit juice
AM snack: veggies
Lunch: grilled chicken salad
PM snack: yogurt
Supper: probably steak, salad, baked potato, a few fried mushrooms & a few fried cauliflower (I will take some home)

Goals for day:
1. Get finished the things I didn't get done yesterday.

DH and I are going out tonight to "our" place for our Anniversary dinner. We always go here for our anniversary, it's where we ate our first meal on our wedding night. They have excellent food. The anniversary is on the 15th, but with DD18 leaving it is easier to do it tonight.

Busy day. Whining kid (DS), who is already beginning to have seperation anxiety over DD18 leaving. It is proving to be a bit trying today.

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Happy Anniversary!!! :bride: :groom: Hope you and your DH have a great dinner.

Don't work too hard!

And, good luck with DS today. :goodvibes

Hi Lesli!

Hope that you and DH have a great night!
I am sure that everyone's emotions are running high as DD18 departure for school approaches. Just wanted you to know I am thinking about ya!

Oh, almost forgot! On the computer issue... this may help, may not... but if you hit the Alt & PrtScr buttons at the same time, it copies a picture of everything on your desktop at that moment that can be placed into Paint, Word, or any program you put a picture in. So if you call up the old settings so you can see them you can copy them to one of those programs and print the image. May be too late to help but I thought I would share it!

Hope you are having a good day too!

Mike :sunny:

Thanks for the tip Mike. A little late, but maybe I will remember next time.

Yesterday was very trying on me with the youngest kids. Everything was an arguement. The older girls and DH were gone. Going out to dinner didn't come soon enough.

I stayed busy again. Trying to figure out how best to organize all the various things I have going on in Scouts so that planning will be easier and I don't forget to do something in one area. Once I get the system going, it should be pretty good and much easier to maintain. Another small spot in the office is cleared.

AM snack, missed. Lunch, as planned. PM snack was 1 oz cheese and summer sausage. It doesn't taste as good as it used to. I would have been better with the yogurt. Supper was really delicious. I had too many assorted crackers w/ spreadable cheddar (the really good kind), 3 fried cauliflower, 3-4 fried mushrooms (both dipped a tad in cheese :rolleyes1 ), a small salad w/green goddess dressing (so good), 2/3 baked potato w/butter, sour cream & chives :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 , 1/2 of a fillet mignon (pretty good sized), and two sm bites of a cinnamon roll (not as good as usual). We took home the left over cauliflower & mushrooms, amazingly we didn't eat them all. We also took home what was left of our potatoes and steaks. I ate a bit too much, but didn't overstuff myself to the point that I was miserable. Interestingly, I tried really hard to eat the whole steak as it had a great flavor and I just couldn't. Somewhere along the line I have realized that it is much better to save it for later than to devour it all now and pay for it. :cool1: Sure, maybe I could have done a little better, but this meal was a huge victory for the both of us. Food coming home from this restaurant is amazing. Oh yeah, I also had 4/5 of a wine cooler. It was really nice to get away for a few hours with DH.

I was expecting the scale to be up after that meal, but it is still the same. :cool1: :cool1:  I feel like I am starting to learn. Big meal coming, pull back in other areas for the day OR continue as normal, but eat less at the meal.

Breakfast: 1 egg omelet w/cheese, 1/2 slice 7 grain toast, 1 c. milk, 1 c. grapefruit juice
AM snack: yogurt
Lunch: ? Will be out shopping with DD18, so we will choose something healthy, possibly Panera
PM snack: veggies
Supper: Lazangna, salad, Panera bread

Goals for day:
1. Exercise 30 min in afternoon
2. Shop for DD18's office chair & some misc items for me
3. Maintain control while eating lazangna
4. Tie up any other loose ends for college moving
5. Clear another spot in my office

Here is the best news about yesterday. I actually wore a dress that I haven't worn since September 2001. :teeth: DD18 asked me when I bought the dress (thinking it was recently) and when I said "2001" she just laughed. Got some compliments, but I am hoping to pass it on to someone else soon. I also fit into a skirt that I haven't worn since MAYBE early 2001 or late 2000. I really wanted to wear it instead since it was dressy casual, but I don't have any shirts that will go with it anymore. The things I do have are the wrong color or too casual or too dressy. Guess I bett go get a shirt as I could where this skirt for alot of things, even day to day, it is so comfy. Oh yeah, I also put on a pair of size 16 dress pants. Not bad, but a few more lbs and some toning and they will look great!

So trying on all these clothes, I have realized how much I really need to exercise now. Toning different areas will make a huge difference in the way these clothes fit.

Well, I better get going. Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Congrats on the "new" wardrobe ;) I bet it felt great to wear that dress last night. Definitely treat yourself to a new top for that skirt- great combination of a new treat for yourself and the satisfaction of fitting back into clothes you thought you'd seen the last of.

Filet mignon is my fav! Sounds like an excellent meal! I'd guess the scale stayed the same because, even though you've been dieting, you've managed to keep your metabolism up, so your obdy is able to manage indulgences here or there better. Exercise will only increase you metabolism, especially some type of resistence training.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Happy Anniversary to you and DH!

Sounds like you had a lovely night!

Hi Lesli!

So glad you and DH had a nice aniversary dinner! And I think you did great with your eating there, you tried to keep your portions in control instead of finishing each course, that is great! Of course, now you have me wanting Filet mignon!!! (Le Cellier here I come! hehehe!)

Huge congrats on your clothes fitting! That must feel so great!! As for the young 'uns, I have another tip that I use when responsible for my niece and nephews... lure them into the dog's sleeping crate with a treat (a lollipop or a shiny piece of plastic) and then just close the door. Throw a blanket in there and they will fall asleep eventually! ;) just kidding!!! LOL!! hehehehe

Hope that you are having an awesome Sunday!
Mike :goodvibes

Sounds like you and your dh had a nice dinner - a bit late but Happy Anniversary. And congrats on keeping that scale the same rather than up - BRAVO!!!!!

Here's to a good next couple of weeks!!!!!

Keep on
