Guitar legend-inventor Les Paul dies at age 94
AP, Aug 13, 2009 11:56 am PDT

Les Paul, who invented the solid-body electric guitar later wielded by a legion of rock 'n' roll greats, died Thursday of complications from pneumonia. He was 94.According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.
As an inventor, Paul also helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll with multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the tracks in the finished recording.

Thank you sir for making music what it is today. :guilty:

I'll have to tell my husband about this. He is a big guitar collector/player/rebuilder.

DH is a huge fan, of the man and the guitar. :) (DH had gone to Berklee College for Music for two years, before leaving and majoring in...of all things...Accounting.) He used to go see him in NYC when he was there on business trips. He's going Monday, and had hoped to see him again. We have a picture of DH with him from a few years back. :)

A true legend in his own time. Les was responsible for inventing and pioneering so much more than many realize.

NO! I never got to see him play live...

Guess I knew it would be coming, considering his age, but still...
