Last year I gave up clothes/shoe shopping for my newborn daughter. That was the hardest Lent ever for me! For 6 years all I had was a boy and so it really was a sacrifice for me. I also gave up going to my most favorite chocolate shoppe.
This year I'm not as addicted to shopping for DD or the chocolate shoppe so I'll be giving up pop
That's what we do too. Instead of giving something up, we try to do something meaningful to make us better people. That is actually what one of the sisters in our church encourages us to do instead of giving something up. We then talk about what we did when we are eating dinner together.
Like another poster mentioned, we do not eat meat on Fridays during Lent.
