Legoland - Water park question

We will be visiting Legoland in May. Should we plan to bring swimsuits/beach towels for DS (6) & DD (3) for the water park? How much time does the water park area take up (I am sure it is dependent on the kids too).

I just wonder if we should try to "steer clear" of the water park area so we don't miss out on any of the other Legoland stuff.

Are parents likely to get wet too if they stay pretty close to the their kids???

With my DD 4 we just avoided it. If you are there for just one day there will still be stuff to do and I just didn't want to lug the stuff around. It is kind of off to the side so you can avoid it with out too much drama. It looked really cute though so if they love water and you don't mind carrying stuff check it out! I had another friend who spent a couple hours there with her sons.

I agree with the previous poster. We were there on a very warm day in December, and saw quite a few kids playing in it. We wouldn't have had time to do that and see the rest of the park, but it was only open from 10-5 the day we were there. It looked really fun though. If we go again, we may bring suits and towels to stick in a locker just in case....

Hmmm...maybe we will just pack some towels & suits and leave them in the car, just in case. However, from the sounds of it, I think avoiding it all together will be our goal!

I'll give the other opinion. Its my kids favorite thing in the park. Its the reason I drive past Disneyland to go to Legoland. Frankly, compared to Disney, some of the attractions here are really and truly lame. Sweet, safe, and cute, but lame. Barely above what your high school might do for a school fair. Also, kids get sick of lines after a while. Waiting and waiting and waiting. So...the water park area is fun because its free play. They can run around screaming and get wet and acting silly and its appropriate behavior! So don't close yourself off the possibility that the water park area might be the highlight of the park!

There are lockers there for your change of clothes. It is SMALL, but fun. And when the bucket drops water, it's a BUNCH. I agree with the last poster - really long lines for short rides ( get there EARLY to avoid some of the waiting - most people show up around lunchtime).

That's fun as well as the castle play area - another free-play place...

If you have small children and they are going to climb on the small water slides etc and you are going to stay anywhere near them, yes, you will get SOAKED every time that bucket dumps. If you can keep them just playing in the fountains you might have a chance to stay dry but otherwise...prepare to be soaked. I find that area very nervewracking...so many kids going so many directions, with so many ways on and off the big central waterslide structure thing. In addition, there are not a lot of changing areas...a few family restrooms but long lines for those. So best to change elsewhere in the park before you get anywhere near the water area and plan to go home wet!

My general goal is always to avoid it and go swimming at the hotel when we are done!
