Now the coolest part of lego for my boys are the little guys you can make. In the past you couldn't get Star wars guys without a set.
BUT NOW!!
They have magnets- newer magnets that the guys snap off of and you can take them apart like regular lego(In the past the magnet was a single piece with the magnet inside- now it snaps onto the magnet.)

Long explanation- the point is You can now get lego guys by buying the Magnets! For anyone else that has lego guy freaks.
And there is a super cool silver Storm Trooper one now! Special anniversary one. I think I'll buy a few more. *nerd alert.

Yes the little things make me happy.

The Lego sets are too expensive. My boys have about 20 sets and the pieces are all mixed together. They couldn't build any of the original lego creations if their lives depended on it...

:rotfl2: Would you like to see our Rubbermaid tub full of the "sets" of the past? I was just giddy about the guys because my little guys (who no way could build it) wanted that crazy $399 Star Wars ship because it has all the guys in it.

I'm actually trying to think of a way to display all the guys along a wall in the playroom- like little lucite cubes? But I need a wall of them. It's all in my head right now.

DH recently turned our kids onto Legos. DD has now become obsessed and spent all her birthday money on several of the kits. Her first construction was the beach house, and she agonized for days over whether to kept it intact or destroy it. She's now decided to document her creations with her camera so she can always have available Legos with which to build. DH is in heaven, and I'm just hopeful that I won't step on any in my bare feet! :)

Do they have C3P0????

Something that was very helpful is that all of the instructions have a very clear "don't do this" picture instruction people not to put the legos on the ground. :) It's the rule, you can't do it!

I also like the rule of "don't hit 0-3 year olds in the face" with the projectiles...it's just a picture, but it conveys the message well.

We have a small bin with instructions in it, so anyone at anytime could reconstruct something if they wanted to deal with finding the parts. Hmm...I might need to recreate the something or other droid (went with the spider droid in the box) that I made...it was really cool! (don't tell hubby or son that I said that)

All of our sets of legos are all mixed together now also. I use to keep each set in its own plastic container with the instructions.

My DS is older now and him and his friends have put all the pieces together.

That is great about buying the people. My DS also wanted the $399 set for the people. When we went to Disney and the Lego store I thought you could just get some of the people without a set. My DS was very disappointed.

Thank you so much for this info.

Ooooh I love lego!!! It's the best. And I'm 40! :lmao:

My almost 13 year old is still a huge lego fan - has been for 10 years now. I love that he doesn't feel he's too old for it. He just still has so much fun creating things.

We're currently in the process of sorting out all our Lego - hundreds of thousands of pieces. We bought 2 sets of 12 storage boxes in different sizes and the plan is to have a separate box for each size of lego. It's fun.

For years I've been saying there's a market for adult lego sets. Let me explain. lol!! I mean sets of Frasier lego, Seinfeld Lego etc. I'd never leave the house!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for sharing this!!! My DS could usually care less about building the sets, but loves the people, too. He will be so excited!

With three boys, we have THOUSANDS of Legos in our home..... most likely just about every set that's come out. But it's money well worth it in my home since it has kept my boys occupied for hours and hours.

Thank you OP for letting me know about the Star Wars magnets. That's great that they can be removed from the magnet and used as regular Lego people.

One question though... where do you find these?? My 12 yo is NUTS about Star Wars Legos...

DS17 still loves his Lego's. He, ah, has, ah, lego room in our basement. We have a room just for legos. :rolleyes1

His current favorites are all the Star Wars models. They are all put together and sitting on shelves in his room. They take him a day or so to put together and then he thinks he needs more. :confused3:lmao: The Lego room has boxes and boxes of legos, mostly old sets that have been taken apart and put in a box.

My MIL still has all the legos from when DH and his siblings were young, in the original box. They weren't kits then, just different sized boxes with places for the red bricks, green bricks, clear bricks, etc.

Walmart.com has some Lego sets on rollback right now. Combine the rollback price with free shipping to your local Walmart and it's not a bad deal.

We're swimming in Legos at our house. :) We have regular Legos, Technics, different sets, and the Mindstorms. Honestly, Legos is one of the only toys my kids consistently play with.

Oh Java I think I love you

My oldest ds had to have the Star Wars sets, so I got them. There is only one that is still together but he plays with the men everyday. I am getting them all :)

The mini-fig sets are so cute!! I'm wondering if they can be found at the Lego store in DTD?
My son wants to buy the build your own lego guys, but he might like the star wars guys better.

Oh those toy story ones are CUTE!

Now the issue in the past with the minifigures has been licensing. The reason they can't just sell a couple storm troopers is the deal they worked out with Lucas films I guess.

Toy story- well I hope they make just a minifigure set that would be nice.

To the Previous poster- They don't sell the mini- figures as sets other than the "vintage" figures or the box of a bunch of random people for $40

Interestingly the build your own was a major disappointment for my guys - the stuff available wasn't great. The choices were limited- like only orange hats- and only black legs. We were expecting more.
