LEGO deals for a first-timer

It has to be a qualifying item for the 50% discount. Last night I was able to get 50% off of a LEGO set, but today it doesn't show qualifying. I guess I got really lucky!! :)

This is really aggravating - the 20% codes won't work on the legos and the buy one offer won't work (and I am selecting sets that show under the link for the buy one offer). Grrrrr

I called the store and they said that it had to be an educational toy to get the 50% off. I asked how I was supposed to know if it was educational or not & she said just about every toy they have is. So I hurried to the store (35 miles) away. When I got there, there was a sign on the Legos that said Buy 1 Get 1 50%.

They didnt have alot of choice tho.

The Lego store now and Lego.com is doing double points all of October if you are a VIP member. It's free to be a VIP and you usually get 1 point for every $1 you spend and when you reach 100 points you get $5 back on your next purchase. Except right now its 2 points for every $1 spent.

I just went and bought two $99 sets and I had a few points on my card already. The guy at the store let me do one transaction to get 200+ points on my card then I used that to get $10 off the next set. It's not a lot but it's something and probably about as close to a sale you'll get from Lego official.

I'm guessing they want to encourage parents to stock up on lots of sets for Christmas by doubling the rewards now. (Then when you see that last minute set right beforehand you'll already have convenient money on your card to make a spontaneous purchase easier, right?! :rotfl2: )

Make sure you compare! I just looked at WalMart prices online & even with the b1G1 at 50%, it came to the same price WM has them everyday for!

I bought a lot of lego friends when Target had 20% off. I was able to get an even better deal by stopping by customer service to get the online sale price. Much cheaper than the lego/TRU site.

I shopped that sale too- with my red card discount and my pharmacy rewards, I was happy....not sure a better deal would come along.
