Lego coupons or discounts?!

I was reading your post and it sounds like you are describing my 7yo son! LOL! He does the exact same thing....I have learned to "let go" of the Legos and let him enjoy them the way he wants to. He will build them, play with them for a few days, take them apart and put the pieces into his Lego box, and then rebuild things that he dreams up. Oh well.......

I am ok with that of course.. i love seeing what he comes up with.. I have let it go with prob at least 20 sets LOL on top of the countess random pieces we buy everytime we go to downtown Disney. We must have more than 2000 pieces and parts . I have refused to buy anymore.. he has plenty of pieces to build with, which he does daily. If I am going to spend anymore on these stinking things.. Keep them together UGHHHH lol. I figure with his big table we built him , he could have a whole city and still have his other legos just to play with.

check lego.com on Black Friday. They normally have some type of discount on BF. In the past, the more you spend, the higher the discount percentage.

Oh WOW I didn't know they did that. I will definitely be checking there. DS8 wants the big Lego City construction site that is $99. Kohl's had it for $105 and then with the 30% discount code it would have been $75, but I didn't check out fast enough and by the time I got around to doing it, it was sold out. I was so doggone mad at myself for not checking out sooner. :sad2: I think their online Lego selection was pretty much gone within a day.

My husband and son are lego freaks. As far as a discount for them it is hard to find. TRU mark up their legos. There are some sets on sale BF at Target. They are a Troll ship for $49 and the Indiana Jones Crystal Ball set for $49 . TRU has The Twilight from clone wars for $49 on Black Friday. Other than that, Target does clearance once in awhile. Also Kohls has them online only and you can use the extra percent off. If you buy at the lego stores they do have a program to earn gift cards. Someone had already mentioned that. Good Luck on you search.

MY ds7 wants to start on the lego city stuff. My issue with his is that he tends to put the sets together and then take them apart mixing up the pieces. I explained to him that if we started this.. it is meant to stay together as a city and to be played with that way.

Let the LEGO's free! :goodvibes Yep, they are meant to be mixed and matched, and create new things.

But, if someday, you want to rebuild the original sets, in the age of the internet, there is help.

Keep a list of the set numbers, and then at anytime you can look the set up on that website and get an inventory of the pieces. And many of the sets have links to instructions, if you lose those. I think the site that has the instructions has a 3 year waiting list for posting instructions (so people don't skip buying new sets and putting them together with the pieces they already have).

And while it won't help with this year's shopping. I've had good luck finding sets on clearance at Target after the holidays are over. Then you can store them for next year. DH is the LEGO guy in our house (no kids)...so all the sets he wants are expensive too.

Thanks everyone!

My DS6 and I are both LEGO fans so I love helping him build them!

I am worried if I wait I wont be able to get them. So I am thinking of getting them now...

I signed my son up to be a "Brickmaster" and he LOVES it! He gets the lego magazine, but it has additional inserts that the free mag does not have which includes instructions on how to build something new out of a set you might already have which is so very cool to my almost 7 DS. He had gotten one of the power miners sets a few months ago and the latest brickmaster magazine had instructions on how to build something else with that set. DS immediately tore the old set apart and build the new one. He loves to tear apart, rebuild anyway so that was great for him.
He also gets sets (I think 4 times a year, i don't remember) that come in the mail and they are sets not sold in stores. Seeing the look on his face when he gets home from school to find one of the "lego packages" is priceless! Definitely worth the money.

Legos are so good for kid's spatial skills. I am always happy to buy them for my nephew instead of a video game. :)

Target usually has some good prices leading up to Christmas. I think they even have a coupon in their Christmas Toy catalog.

We are a lego loving house too! I stocked up at the last TRU b2g1 sale. The last few years, I bought 1 big set for each boy. This year I am getting more of the smaller sets. It is an inevitability that the pieces from the sets, especially the big sets, get intermingled in the rest of the legos never to be seen again. After seeing Hogwarts and the police station disappear, I am sticking w/the smaller sets that will be easy for the kids to build themselves and not so hard on me when they disappear.

My guys especially like the Lego guys, so I have ordered a bunch of pieces to make guys from the loose brick section of the lego website. These are pretty inexpensive, and there are a lot of accessories for them too (hair, hats, suitcase, etc). I did this to fill Easter eggs and for Christmas I ordered some guys to put together to win in the little claw arcade game. I also ordered the pirate tic tac toe, which has 10 guys (5 soldiers, 5 pirates) for $20.00, which is pretty good for Lego.

I am hoping to be done w/Lego for Christmas, so hope to remain strong if a good sale comes by......I agree that TRU is due for another good Lego sale too!

I'll second the Wow I didn't know that! I even order from here a lot especially for hard to find star wars sets and didn't know they did this.

Do these discounts start at midnight or is there a morning time? Does anyone know?

My target has a section with stocking stuffers. there were a few of the small (very small) lego sets, abt 40 pieces. they were only $3.99 and my DD will love them. there were 3 star wars lego sets and i got one of each.

to the PP who posted about the loose brick section of the lego website to get more people. can you post where that is? I looked on the lego site and did not see.

thanks

lara

KMart is having the buy 2 get 1 free on Black Friday. I picked up three bigger sets when TRU had the deal a month or so ago. I might do the deal at KMart with smaller sets, too. I think DH and I like the Legos as much as DS does!;)

Hi folks,

I didn't see this one posted here.

Lego is having a semi-hidden sort of sale on four sets.

I got the catalog in the mail back in September and never looked thru it until last night.

There was a note included that if you purchase two of the following sets get 15% off the price; if you purchase 3 or more you get 25% off the price.

The sets include:

10185 Green Grocer Reg $149.99 25% price: $112.49
10187 Volkswagen Beetle Reg $119.99 25% price: $89.99
6241 Loot Island Reg $19.99 25% price: $14.99
7746 Single Drum Roller $29.99 25% price: $22.49

Just these sets. If other sets are added to the cart their price does not go down. Not a BF level discounts but I've never seen the Volkswagen Beetle in stores so that might be a steal.

I tested it out and the discount applies automatically. They are also offering free shipping on orders over $99.

This price is good thru December 31, 2009.

cheapcheapcheap.com is linking to amazon right now for a $30 ultimate building set for $20.

just wanted to thank the PP who mentioned the loose brick section and then was gracious enough to post the link to the section. I ordered a bunch of pieces to make some lego people for less then it is to buy 1/2 the people in the store (i do wish you could buy more people) that is the one thing we always lack. People.

thanks again

Lara
