Legit? Or am I just rationalizing?

Two years ago I interviewed for a job in Anaheim. The interview coincided with spring break at my son's school, so I brought him along for the ride. He was 10 years old then. We stayed in the Fairfield Inn across the street from Disneyland, so we could see into the park, and of course watched the fireworks from our room. We arrived in Anaheim late in the afternoon, so we didn't buy full day tickets for the parks but wandered around DTD. Next day was taken up by the interview, so we again didn't go to the parks. Day after we rented a car and drove to LEGOLAND. Spent that evening at DTD shopping and eating. (I wish they would sell a half-day or evening only discounted park ticket). Flew home the next morning.

I'm feeling like I owe DS a trip to DLR, and I've always wanted to stay at the Grand Californian. My question is, if I do plan this trip, am I doing it for noble or selfish reasons? Do I owe him a trip? Staying so close and not going inside is a special brand of torture.

DW and DD would not be invited.

LOL, Sheriff. Does noble or selfish really matter? I think it's great that you want to spend some one on one time with your son. It's good for all concerned. Going to DLR for that alone time is just icing on a cake. :)

Seriously, spending one on one time with Dad is almost certainly something your son loves to do - and probably your DD does, too. Doubt it matters much how that is accomplished. But if you choose DLR, maybe you need to think about a future trip with DD and then something equally special for DW?

Carol has given sound advice as usual!

Would it matter if it was selfish? Would it only be worthwhile if you thought it an awful idea but pursued it because he wanted to? No and no.

Plan and go!

Definitely 'selfish', and you would be doing yourself and the world a disservice by taking your son to Disneyland. It's just a bad, bad idea... ;)

We all think of excuses for going to Disney; yours is as good as any I have used.
