Legacy Pass Blackout Calendar . . . why? Am I missing something?

Just recently activated 4 legacy silver passes that were about to use just prior to Covid but things closed down before the trip. They were activated as Sorcerer passes on the system which have some slightly different blackout dates than the Silver pass (the major ones being they have blacked out some of the "lesser" holidays but have opened up more of the summer.

Because Disney has (and still does) maintain a Silver Pass blackout calendar through November 2023 on their website - I had assumed they would honor the blackout dates on the old pass. At this point - more than a year after the ending of the legacy passes - there is no reason why they would even have a legacy pass blackout calendar anymore. Unless I'm missing something, no one should have an active silver pass if they're activating all passes as a new pass and even if you have an unactivated pass - it would be transitioned over upon activation. All this blackout pass calendar does it seems is mislead people who may have unactivated old passes that they will be subject to the legacy calendar (at least until such time as they stop publishing the calendar and instead put on the website that all passes will be activated into the new calendars). There shouldn't be a single person out there who is or will be subject to that calendar anymore based on what they're doing.

Main reason for asking is that we had planned to go over MLK weekend and even have flights and resort reservation. Was thinking about cancelling at one point but with a trip this weekend looking like it might be a washout - we're more likely to want to keep this trip.

So first - am I missing something here? Is there any logical reason why Disney has a Silver pass blackout calendar through Nov. 2023? And what department at Disney would you deal with for discussions on this?

Sorcerers pass seems to be the one that Legacy passes are pushed into. We had a platinum style pass that we activated recently and they shoved it into a Sorcerers pass because we are DVC so we lost the ability to go during TDay and Christmas which the original pass would have allowed. Disney is not as accommodating with legacy ticket media as they used to be. Unfortunately, they control the rules and right now the over-the-top customer service we once knew is not cost effective for Disney anymore.

Hmm, I thought the DVC Gold APs became Sorcerer, and the DVC Platinum became IncrediPass APs. When did you renew? Or did you have renewal vouchers or new-AP vouchers bought before the pandemic? What do you mean by “platinum style”? If it was very recent, you might want to call the Passholder Help Desk at (407) 939-7277 and/or email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com and guest.services@disneyworld.com.

Are you sure your Silver APs were activated as Sorcerer APs? Sorcerer APs are not blocked out for MLK weekend, only Thanksgiving and Christmas. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/disney-sorcerer-pass/
The Pirate AP and Pixie Dust AP are blocked out for MLK.
Correct - I didn't have the list in front of me and mixed up Sorcerer and Pirate. Silver activated into Pirate (I assume Gold activates into Sorcerer). But my mind still boggles why they're continuing to post and extend the legacy pass blackout date calendar online since theoretically there is not a single person out there with an active Silver pass or will ever be able to activate into a Silver pass (or Gold or Platinum for that matter).

Ah, understood. Yes, interesting that they’re maintaining the blockout calendars for those passes — Disney IT at its finest!

Ours was DVC Platinum Pass vouchers that were bought quite a while ago. We had never activated them when Gold came out and we opted to buy those instead and kept renewing. Since we were DVC, they told us in October that it could only be activated as a Sorcerer pass because the platinum pass was purchased with DVC discount.

I'd call and argue the point on that.

That doesn't even make sense. You'll be able to get that one fixed.

So this happened to me during spring break. I activated 3 silver and 1 gold pass. They automatically switched them into pirate/sorcerer passes. Fine. But we were there for a 5 day trip and these were days that were good with the silver but not with pirate (technically the gold/sorcerer pass was fine). I had been able to make hotel and park reservations with the vouchers. I had already bought G+ for the day and had a bunch of rides stacked for MK that evening (which is where we were activating them). They tried to get me to pay the $800ish dollars to upgrade the pirate passes to sorcerer passes. No way. They ended up issuing me 5 day park hopper tickets so that we could continue the trip we were on and the pirate/sorcerer passes stayed in voucher mode (but for the new pass type). I'm pretty sure we ended up a better deal then them just upgraded the passes but it took a lot. I had gotten multiple mixed messages when I tried to sort this out beforehand. There is no reason they should keep the calendar for those old passes at this point.

If you have already activated the pirate passes then I would think you would be out of luck for MLK weekend since you are already in the new pass type and new calendar.
