Legacy FP Machine SHUT DOWN at Magic Kingdom!!!!!!!!!!

I really do wish that at the very least Disney set up the FP+ slots to on-site guests the way they set up dining credits. That way if someone wanted to spend a day at the resort they could still use those slots on another day.

"Idea of the Year" nomination! Seriously, love this idea...sort of combines the best features of two opposing strategies for park touring (commando versus relaxed).

It would also be an extra little "perk" for onsiters that wouldn't cost Disney anything additional.

We tend to have days that are more ride centered, and days that are more centered on seeing shows and hunting characters. This would really help us get closer to maintaining what we used to easily accomplish.

Try this instead. :cake:

Or destroying threads. Don't forget that one. :teeth:

Things are already starting to unravel.:)

My friend is staying off site and is 60 days out. He was bummed he couldn't prebook. He is starting to understand the disadvantage he has upon arrival at MK and DK.

All I could do was listen. I feel bad for him.

:scratchin So why is it ok to tell people who dislike FP+ to get themselves to rope drop, but it wasn't ok to tell people complaining about TSMM FPs being gone by late morning to get there at rope drop?

:thumbsup2

I'm technically a newbie compared to many on these boards, the majority of my time in the past was spent on the Dining (yum) and Resort boards. Hardly ever even peeked in here 'cuz I wasn't much into IASM, height checks, and glitter t-shirts.

But then FP+ came along and for the first time I started looking at WDW from a pure business and operations perspective.

So I'm wondering - has there ever been as much controversy over anything as there has been with FP+ ?

That's a really good question. It might deserve its own thread. I'd be interested to hear, too. I've only been around here for a few years, so I can't remember any controversy causing as much of a ruckus. When they started enforcing FP return times in 2012, there was quite a ruckus, but technically that was *for* the future of FP+, so it really counts as a FP+ ruckus!!

RD at morning EMH park, hop to a different park where you have your FP+, then enjoy the night at evening EMH/whichever park is open late that night (since not every night has an evening EMH park)- you'll still get plenty done if you don't want to stop.

Some of us have young children to work around, while also still only having 4 days in the parks. Yes, I want to maximize out time and opportunities, but I have to do that within the framework of an 18 month old's needs (esp. with sleep).

OK. I used to live in Orlando and was an AP holder for 8 years before moving to VA. The last time I visited WDW was 2012. With little ones FP- was used alittle bit -not much. We got spoiled being passholders going during down times. Now maybe I was stupid but when I got a FP- for TSM at HS, let's say it was for 3:30 - I got it at 10am. It wouldn't let me pull another until 2:30, 1 hr before. I remember going to a machine and it wouldn't let me get one somewhere else. So how could people pull 8 FP's all for different rides for the whole day??

Anyways I don't have a opinion of FP+ yet, but it seems it will work for my family. I guess I will have to wait and see.

I think you may be misremembering...the rules were you could pull another FP either when the return window opened OR 2 hrs after you pulled it..whichever came first. If you pulled a FP at 10am that was for 3:30 return, you would have been able to pull another FP at 12pm.

I don't remember it working that way - I could pull a FP, and if I pulled it at 10am and it was for 3:30, I could get another an hour (or two?) later.

EDIT: What Angel said.

They are still better than Universal. At least with Disney, you get three free FPs. Universal you get none. Disney is several feet ahead of the competition.

well I won't tell you how to tour with an 18 month old- did 18 month olds follow legacy FP schedules? I seem to remember that being a common complaint from people looking for advice for their trips with toddlers- that getting FPs were hard to keep on a young child's schedule.

Are you sure you read the fine print at the bottom of the paper FP? I have grabbed approximately A TON of Fps and it always stated that we could pull another FP 2 hours into the future.

I could be wrong and maybe that is the case sometimes. I personally never had to do that.

Oh yeah, I remember that one. But it didn't seem to last as long or be as intense as the current discussion.

I do remember participating in some early testing in the Fall of 2012, it wasn't called FP+ then but it was the same concept, I went online and picked three things and we had special cards that they read. I remember there were some differing opinions at the time in regards to how that worked out for people but again - nothing like the current discussion.

DD has always napped well in the parks. If we had a FP and she was sleeping, we'd just ride one at a time while the other parent waited with her. We went with DD as an 8 month old and a 15 month old this past year, and had no issues at all using legacy FP- (and did get 5-7 of them throughout the day at MK).

Nope, can't say that I've seen more uproar from us Dis folks over anything else.

Uhhhh....when I can stay at Royal Pacific Resort on Universal property with an AP rate of $85/night and get free FOTL for a week then they seem like a clear winner to me. :confused3

When FP first came out the system needed to be tweaked- 2 hours was not always the maximum time before getting another FP. Now in 2012 it was 2 hours; however, if PP was remembering something from earlier on, there is a chance that he had a different new FP time.

It's important to remember that the original FP system needed quite a bit of tweaking as well.
