This is kinda like 60's-ish... but oh well...

So we are going with the dining plan, and I know it's more food than I can eat. Does Disney have a thing where if I request (or not request) to send the food to the hungry that it happens? Or no? LOL I don't know if people do this much anymore, but I saw a commercial on tv one day and it was saying they send their leftovers somewhere to help the hunger problem. Any insight?

Wow....And where would this half-eaten food end up? I do support food pantries, ect, but are you really speaking about leftovers....Have these leftovers been lipped yet? Major consideration I would guess.......

Disney donates a lot of unserved food -- I can't remember the statistic I read one time. However, I don't know of any aid organization that will accept "leftover" served food.

I'd say Health Department laws would be against actually sending leftovers, but I think the OP meant if she requested not to be served all of it and send what wasn't served to the hungry. I don't think that would work very well. It would be an accounting nightmare to try to separate out lesser servings requested. What would you use as the rule? 1/2 servings, 2/3 servings, what? Each persons' choice. It's not feasible, nor will it solve whatever hunger problem there might be in Orlando.

We had a BBQ at school and couldn't even take the left overs (lots of chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, mac salad and watermelon) to the fire dept across the street (health dept. rules they said) major waste of food. We weren't even allowed to take it home. So I don't think Disney could donate leftovers. Maybe unserved unprepared food.

Can you imagine the amount of waste that will be generated by changing the dining age for a child from 11 to 9? The amount served an adult to a 9 year old? And we wonder why we are growing into a nation od Pooh sized people?
Can you see the first lawsuit (like the one about a year ago against McDonald's) against WDW......WDW made my child fat by serving him/her adult sized portions.

Sorry about the rant, I must tired. TTFN.................
