I was daydreaming in work today (as you do  ) and I got to wondering how many left handers we have here on the DIS. I'm left handed although my Dad is right handed as was my Mum. Strangely enough I do hold my fork in my left hand and knife in my right when I am eating though. :confused3

Left hander here. My Mum is left handed but my Dad was right.

DH is the only right hander from his family (his brothers and Mum & Dad are lefties).

My eldest DD is right handed but youngest is left handed.

I'm a righty :) All my immediate family are, but my DF is left-handed.

Opposite of David though, when eating I swap around. I have my fork in my right and knife on the left :lmao:

I'm right, on my dads side all the men are left handed

I'm mostly left handed but I tend to use my right hand ocassionally for strength activities (like throwing stuff :lmao:). Nobody related to me by blood is left handed... The only person I can think of who is left handed in my family is my uncle but he's not related to me by blood :P

All righties here except DS10 eats as a leftie. I think my brother did exactly the same with the eating with the wrong hand.

we all righties but my MIL and Nephew are lefties

We're all right-handed - in fact I can't think of any family who are left-handed although I've got several friends who are.

Most people I know are right handed, apart from my brother who is left handed.

I'm interested to know if the people who consider themselves to be ambidextrous can actually use both hands to the same ability, e.g. to write with.

I'm right handed as are all my immediate family, my DH and his immediate family and our DS, however DD is a leftie so not sure where that came from. It was apparent from around the age of 10 months or so. I had trouble trying to show her how to write and cut with scissors when she was smaller and was dreading teaching her to tie shoelaces, thought we'd just end up in knots. However, last weekend I spent about 10 minutes showing her and she mastered it!

hi i am one of the ambidextrous, i have been for years,i used to write with both hands when i was at schhol but now more right handed than ambidextrous, but when i am eating i am will quite often change from left to right with out nowing it.

drove my wife up the wall as no one new if i was left or right handed.
i am just both. lol :)

I'm right handed but have always held my knife and fork in the opposite hands! Bf is left handed.

Same! I really have no idea why I do this! It baffles my boyfriend, who is left handed but was taught to 'eat properly' so the opposite way round for him. I must just have bad table manners

I have no idea why I do it either :lmao: I guess it just feels more comfortable when eating, but I do find it odd, as everything else I do is using my right hand.

Least we can have bad table manners together :rotfl2:

I'm right handed. DH is left handed but plays some sports right handed. When he was a kid he would write with his left hand to the middle of the page and then swap to his right hand to carry on.
