Left Behind Series...

I just started reading them about 2 months ago, and have gotten though book 5. I am going to take 6 with me on vacay. I was hoping the whole series would be as good as the first ones. Now I am already kinda feeling dissapointed from reading this. I do keep a bible close by when reading, so I can refrence it. lol.

I thought this was a great series and I really cared about the characters.
One of the authors has started a new series the initial novel being "Babylon"...not sure if it is Jenkins or LaHaye...it was a library book.

Love them all ! About to finish the last one , I felt stupid when I cried during a few of them though .

ENJOY !!!!

I love the Left Behind books! My dad brought The Glorious Appearing home on Friday night, and I locked myself in my bedroom and read the entire thing in four and a half hours.:teeth:

But I do agree that they kind of started to drag along about half way through the series...they seemed a lot more suspenseful at the beginning. They also became slightly hard to follow as the number of characters increased. I forgot who a lot of people were between books, and often ended up skimming over things involving the less important characters to see what was happening to Rayford, Chloe and Buck.

I'm in the middle of "Glorious Appearing" right now. DW will read after me. We've read them all & enjoyed them all. Biblical prophecy can be hard to understand. This series has really enlightened us. I'm wondering though, am I going to have to wait till the end of the book for Jesus to come back?!? LOL!!!

Just a heads up to those who might see this post on this thread. Wednesday night on Sixty Minutes they are having an interview or story or something with lahaye and Jenkins about the return of Christ.

I don't think you can omit the political part from these books as when you are talking about the anti-christ politics are involved.

I am just about finished with Glorious Appearing (had to wait for dh to read it!). We loved the whole series! I was not disappointed in any of them. I did like some more than others, but was never disappointed! I don't think you can leave out politics in the series, everything is ultimaltely tied to politics (unfortunately).

I am trying to read them in order and not skip any. So far, I have read through "Soul Harvest," and I am waiting to find the next one at the library. I will have to put it on hold, I think. The local branch just doesn't have enough books!

I purchased the 10th book the day it came out and had it read in two days. Did anyone else get chills when they got to the part where Jesus came back? What an awesome sight. I started reading the series when there were only two books. I zoomed right through both of those and have hated having to wait for each new one to come out. Pure torture! I have the hardbacks of all the books and plan on rereading them some year-back to back- I think you would enjoy them more without the big wait in between each one.

I have read them all twice, and just finished book 11 for the 2nd time. I have Glorious Appearing requested from the library. Any long series of books can get confusing due to the number of characters.

I read the books the first time before I had re-connected with my faith. We have since then re-joined a great Bible based church. It's very interesting how many things in today's world are strong indicators that the end times are near.

For those of you who have been reading the books with a Bible, that's wonderful. You should absolutely verify any fictional account with the reference. There are several reference books available that will help you with questions that you might have resulting from the philosophy of the rapture. The authors definitely intended for this series to be an instrument to open many secular people's minds about the rapture.

Babylon Rising was written by Dr. LaHaye, and is also very good. It's much more focused on biblical archeology and has lots of action. You might check it out.

Dr. Jenkins has a couple of other fiction books out as well (The Youngest Hero is a good one). He writes secular fiction as well as religious fiction.

I was very much into the series but just never got around to read #11. Mostly because when I start them I do nothing else until I'm done. Well, I started 11 last night and forced myself to stop around 11:30! LOL. Less then half to go.
I'm really enjoying this one! I agree they did get a little slow and bogged down with all the politics but I encourage you to keep going. I'm very impressed with this one.
Now I can't wait to go get the last one!

Read them all, Loved them all.

However, I'm not too happy that two christian men drug the series out for 12 books when it could've been 6. It's just sad that the only reason I can think of for this is to make mucho bucks.

How suspensful are these books? I loved watching some of the Biblical prophesy and Nostradamus type movies / documentaries on TV years ago, but they ended up leaving me more nervous than anything else. I can't read Revelations (I've tried several times, too ) for the same reason. And I remember watching some movies about people being left behind several years ago and some of the scenes from those movies still bother me.

Because of that, I've avoided this series, though I'm curious. Anyone else like me but has read the series?

I have read them all. At this point I am reading them to find out what happens not because they are well written books.

I agree with whoever said the first couple were better, now they are boring and are now dragging out the series to make money.
