Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on other avenues on locating our bag? We arrived on Wed 2/20- well actually at like 1-2am into the 21st. Too late, too much chaos with the four kids, and just not a great travel plan on who was grabbing what. We've done this a ton of times, but this was just crazier! We left the backpack with the Ipad, my work laptop, and the camera (with my memory card which is actually the thing I'm the most upset about losing because it had pictures from the last 6 months including my 6 month old's hospital/arrival/first days). Mears is giving my DH the runaround every day when he calls and we know we left it on there...can't track us or the driver (which I can't believe because they scan the tickets plus we can tell them what time we got on and what other stops there were). We've also called the other resorts and left messages with bell services at those too just in case someone else picked it up and turned it in there. We've called the WDW central lost and found. We've called the airport. BUT now today, we were told that there's actually a special line to call for DME related calls and not the general Mears line (which the only reason we called them in the first place was that's the number that someone from the resort gave us and told us). So now apparently even though the general Mears line has told us every day that they can't track our driver down or bus down to see who it was or who cleaned it, this new DME person was able to pull up our thing right there! So I just am wondering if you have any ideas for any other lines to call that also might be more help than what we've gotten so far.
We're both under the assumption that we're not getting it back. We know that. :guilty: BUT what I don't want is to have it out there somewhere and we're just not contacting the right place. I really thought the first day that we'd get it back...it was so late and dark on the bus that no one else getting off at the other stops would have probably even seen it...plus we're all just good people traveling to Disney right? :confused3 I hoped. :sad2: But now we just are sad that that didn't happen. Honestly at this point, I'd just take the memory card. Don't get me wrong....I don't have any way to replace all the actual valuable things but the memory card is killing me :sad2:
THoughts??

I don't have any numbers or ideas, but I wish you lots of luck with this. Keep calling....sometimes it just takes getting in touch with the right employee! And St. Anthony prayers can't hurt......I hope you find your baby's pictures!

I don"t have any numbers at all. But I would suggest that you call your homeowner' policy. They may cover the items in the lost bag.

You are a Disney guest. Yes, the motorcoach operations are outsourced to Mears, but the service is a Disney-branded service. Disney should be able to help you.

I realize you've contacted Mears and several Disney resources, but have you called Disney's Magical Express Guest Services at 866-599-0951 and asked for a supervisor?

Because several days have already passed without satisfaction (and apparently with no real effort on the part of Mears), you might want to ask who at Disney will take this seriously and track down what happened to your backpack.

Considering that it was after midnight, chances are the motorcoach went back to the Mears lot afterwards. The backpack was probably removed from the motorcoach. Disney ought to be able to tell you what is supposed to happen next. After operating Magical Express since May 2005, Disney and Mears surely must have a procedure for dealing with items left on the motorcoach. Are such items supposed to be logged? Are they then stored at Mears? Or are they supposed be turned over to Disney? Was there an ID tag on the backpack?

Did you have "Find my iPad" turned on? See http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/find-my-iphone.html

There's still a chance the backpack is sitting in a locked cage somewhere, but not properly logged. Most people are honest, but not necessarily careful or thorough in their work.

I wish you success in getting the backpack -- and especially the memory card.

Please keep us posted.

Regrettably items stowed under the Magical Express bus or carried aboard are not logged or tracked until after they are found in the empty bus at the end of the run. Items should be taken to a lost and found area where there is some means of getting the items back to their owners possibly requiring the owner to make the first move.

If Mears is run like a typical transit company they probably log which bus each driver takes and the routes driven each day, but not who cleans which bus at the end of the day.

Oh No, I hope some great person finds it and turns it in for you. How awful. Last year on our trip to Florida, we were on the boat at Downtown Disney and we found a wallet on the seat when we sat down. It was full of money and all of the cc's. I really didn't know what to do with it. Part of me wanted to take it with me, and see if I could call Disney and see if this guest was staying at one of their resorts, or try to track them down via their information in the wallet. The other part of me told me to to turn it into the boat operator. Which is what we did, and as soon as I did it, I regretted it. I always wonder if this person got their wallet back, the boat guy was not very interested and threw it in the dash of the boat.
Later in our vacation we found a camera in the parking lot of Golden Coral. We took it in to the restaurant and hoped the person would come back from it. It had all of their vacation photos on it. I always hope people will/would do the same for me.
I sure hope you find your belongings, and some honest person has handed them in someplace and you will get them back.

If you are still in Orlando, file a police report for the lost items. This way if something comes up, they will have a legal record of it, and the insurance company may want it, too. reports are free, so no reason not to do it unless the Sheriff refuses for some reason.

Also, I like the idea of find my iPhone/iPad

It might be able to tell you the location if the batteries are still charged. You can try it from your current location, then try it again when you file the police report.

Had to help a friend file a police report when I was on my CP. Orlando has such a high theft rate that you can now actually file a report yourself online. Basically you fill out all the information and then 2 to 3 days later the police department accepts it and files the report. It was kind of sad that the police dispatch we talked to after my friends iPhone and wallet were stolen at the outlets said that Orlando is a pool full of trained thieves especially at the outlets and some of the amusement parks.

Did you check with Bell Services at your hotel. We left a bag on the bus last fall and the DME gave it to bell services. Go down to bell services because we called and the said they did not have our bag but later we went to talk to them in person and the manager told us they had the bag all day! Needless to say I was livid and they end up refunding us 1 night stay for the error. Especially after I pointed out right on the top of the bag facing up was all of our contact phone numbers and no one called us. And the fact that just a few hours earlier so & so that I spoke with said you did not have my bag yet you said its been here all day!

This. :thumbsup2 I've used "Find my iPhone" a couple of times, once when I truly left my iPhone in a restaurant and once just to confirm that I left it at home. Not only will it tell you the location of the iPad (assuming it still has a charge), but you can issue a "lock code" and/or tell it to wipe the memory of it if someone tries invalid lock codes 10 times or so. It's extremely useful. But the location finder can really give you peace of mind. If you can see that, likely the rest of the stuff is with it. You'll just need your AppleID/password to use it once you've downloaded it onto a computer or other iphone/ipad, etc.

My son's cell phone fell out of his pocket on our ME trip to the airport. He didn't notice it missing until we were at the gate. I didn't bother calling when we returned home because it was a prepaid phone and I had already bought him a new one for his birthday that he was getting a few days later. Well, over a week later (on the 4th of July) we got a phone call from Mears saying his phone was found and they tracked us down by calling "dad" under phone book. Hopefully your bag will turn up. I don't know why it took so long for them to call us. Sending pixie dust your way pixiedust:

Sending lots of pixiedust: I hope they find it. But, unfortunately not everyone is honest. We had similar happen in that my DH left our camera on one of the busses going from MK to our resort. He was distracted as one of the 3 boys was sick. It had all of the pics from 3 days of our vacation on it and our DS's 5th birthday at CRT and CM on it. We also had no way of taking pics the rest of the trip and we had a ton of character meals. It was also our last trip when Toontown was open so I had taken a ton of pics there. I was heartbroken as the pics and scrapbook I make are my souvenir. That is now known as our "lost" trip as all we have are a few PP pictures. We checked Lost and Found every day but no luck. Do keep checking as I have heard of people getting their stuff after their vacation was over.

I sure hope they track it down for you. Don't give up hope though.....although our things were not that valuable as far as money goes...but sentimental value YES. Years ago...we were staying at CSR and my daughter left her nice dance jacket somewhere on property. It was special to her and she was bummed. SO we checked in with lost and found and gave them a description and our mailing info. We hoped we would get it but didn't expect it. Well a few weeks passed by and we got a phone call from someone at CSR and they had the jacket. It had been turned in....and SENT TO THE WRONG PEOPLE. Those nice people sent it back to Disney and then Disney got it to US. That was pixie dust for sure. pixiedust: THEN a couple of years ago...I left my camera at a bus stop at OKW and didn't realize it until we got to the park when I wanted to take a picture. I called OKW and let them know but they told me they didn't have it. We thought maybe it got turned over to the driver of a bus. We thought for sure we would NOT get that back either. I was also upset more about the memory card. :sad2: Well I think it was the next morning....I got a call and they had a camera at the front desk and so we went to look at it and IT WAS OURS. :yay: There are nice people out there and I hope that SOMEONE turned it in to the right dept. GOOD LUCK!!!

Oh and once our oldest son left his cell phone on the monorail after we were over at the GF.....it ended up showing up at the lost and found at Ticket and Transportation a couple of days later. :) SO we are three for three.... I hope you get that backpack back too. :thumbsup2
